It was recently announced that MGM are developing a prequel series based on the RoboCop franchise that won’t feature the half man, half machine, all cop himself, and while that’s hardly surprising news when you consider that Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 action classic was an origin story, you still get the feeling that it seems a little bit unnecessary.
After all, we’re in the age of Peak TV where small screen quality is at a higher level than ever before, and surely there are plenty of better ideas out there than relying on a recognizable property to develop and market a show that will ostensibly be a tale of a major corporation corrupting the young and innocent Dick Jones into the megalomaniacal villain we met in the Omni Consumer Products boardroom, played with scenery chewing relish by Ronny Cox.

We’re just a week away from the release of the Dceu’s Birds of Prey, one of this year’s highly anticipated movies, albeit one of the most controversial.
Nowadays, if a film even remotely incorporates elements that are considered to be politically correct, or even slightly embraces a ‘woke’ approach, it’ll be susceptible to controversy and backlash. As such, Birds of Prey, which is essentially a female-led superhero movie, has come under fire many times despite the fact that it’s not even out yet. Cast member Ewan McGregor openly saying that this is a feminist film doesn’t help matters, either.
That’s why, to put it in a delicate manner, there’s a growing sensitivity that Birds of Prey is ultimately a movie with an Sjw agenda. And lately, this sensitivity has manifested in some people expressing distaste for how the leading ladies are depicted.

When the first trailer for the upcoming Hellboy reboot screened at New York Comic Con a couple of months ago, viewers seemed dazzled by David Harbour’s fresh take on the title character and the crazy world he inhabits. But now that the general public has a teaser of their own to look over, the reception isn’t quite so glowing.
Coming from Dog Soldiers and The Descent helmsman Neil Marshall, the new Hellboy was hyped up as a darker affair than the Guillermo del Toro flicks, which made this one-liner-filled teaser and its ’80s dance pop soundtrack all the more surprising. And while the footage has already drawn its share of supporters and detractors, most fans on Twitter seem utterly divided in their thoughts on next year’s release:
