Exclusive: Michael C. Hall has signed with CAA for representation.
Hall is best known for starring in Showtime’s award-winning series Dexter, and in HBO’s Six Feet Under. The two roles earned him a Golden Globe, three Screen Actors Guild Awards, and several Emmy Award nominations.
He recently reprised the role of Dexter Morgan in Dexter: New Blood, the limited series in which he starred and executive produced. Showtime is definitely interested in more Dexter series; it already said it is considering a Dexter prequel series about the Trinity Killer while also developing Dexter: Origins and the next chapter of Dexter: New Blood.
Hall’s stage career includes such Broadway performances as the emcee in the 1999 revival of Cabaret, directed by Sam Mendes; Hedwig in John Cameron Mitchell’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch; and John Jones in The Realistic Joneses opposite Toni Collette, Marisa Tomei, and Tracy Letts.

When I think of the sitcoms that raised me, I don’t usually think of “Smart Guy,” and for that I am sorry.
“Smart Guy” often gets lost in the pantheon of sitcom lore, eclipsed by decades of long-running predecessors like “Full House,” “Fresh Prince,” and more. Created by Danny Kallis, the series stars Tahj Mowry as T.J. Henderson, a 10-year-old genius who skips from fourth to tenth grade and has to navigate high school with older kids — including his two siblings. It ran from 1997 to 1999 on the WB and aired reruns on the Disney Channel until 2003.
That’s when I and many other young millennials found the exceptional series. “Smart Guy” became the foundation of my sitcom education in tandem with “Boy Meets World,” a post-school package deal viewing (usually with my dad sharing the couch). In the years that followed, “Boy” moved to ABC Family, but “Smart Guy...

New year, new Netflix! January 2023’s slate can keep viewers entertained amidst all the gray skies and rainstorms, with new original films like “Dog Gone” starring Rob Lowe to classics like “Forrest Gump” starring Tom Hanks. Those who can’t get enough of the adrenaline of “Top Gun: Maverick” can stream the original film on Netflix now, too.
Other genres well-represented in the batch of new titles on Netflix in January include the whodunnit and rom-com, with several options like “The Pale Blue Eye” and “You People” landing as Netflix originals. For those in a more serious mood, “Brokeback Mountain” is now available. “Minions: The Rise of Gru” promises fun for the whole family with Illumination animation, child-favorite characters and a throwback to songs of the seventies for parents.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
It is unlikely any movie ever made will recapture the straight-up fever that engulfed so many of us in the lead up to "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." It can be so hard to remember now, but there was a time where it felt like we were never going to get any more "Star Wars" movies and the prequels were going to be it. Then Disney purchased Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams crafted a bona fide crowd-pleaser that, though nostalgic, also introduced us to brand new characters that a new generation of fans could care for. "Star Wars" was back and it felt bigger than ever.

Rivalries are heating up on and off the court at Bringston University in a new teaser from Season 2 of “All American: Homecoming,” which TheWrap can exclusively reveal.
The clip shows tensions are clearly rising between tennis stars Simone (Geffri Hightower) and Thea (Camille Hyde). Also making an appearance in the sneak peek are Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), from sister show “All American,” as they make a surprise trip to the Atlanta-based Hbcu.
According to the minute-long promo, Thea and Simone aren’t the only ones dealing with drama; Jordan, fresh off his breakup with Simone, has some beef with baseball Mvp Damon (Peyton Alex Smith), who had a notable will-they-won’t-they history with Simone in Season 1 and is currently dating Thea. In the clip, Jordan can be seen punching Damon in the Bringston locker rooms.

Typical to the start of a new year, specialty newcomers are rather few this weekend. The film is the second narrative feature by Meredith Danluck. Too often, filmmakers forget that less can be more. Luckily, the creative forces behind Rust Creek, a new thriller hitting theaters, they know this. Within the first ten minutes, the action and story are already set into motion. Independent cinema like this is always preferable to overly pretentious fare. This flick just wants to tell a lean, mean, and razor sharp story. Without question, they do. This is a really solid film that only pauses to breathe once a breath needs to be taken. It suggests a real strong future for the filmmakers and especially for its star, who is a real find. As mentioned above, the movie gets down to it rather quickly. Sawyer Scott (Hermione Corfield) is a college student with a plum job interview scheduled in Washington D.C. in a few days. En route, she winds up getting horribly lost in the maze-like Kentucky forest. One...

"If they find you here, they'll kill ya." IFC Midnight has released a trailer for Rust Creek, an indie survival thriller from filmmaker Jen McGowan which premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival earlier this year. The film is about an "ambitious, overachieving college senior" who is heading to a job interview, but makes a wrong turn and ends up stranded deep in the frozen Kentucky woods. She is forced into an uneasy alliance with an strange loner with "shadowy intentions", while trying to survive and find her way back home safely. The cast includes Hermione Corfield, Jay Paulson, Micah Hauptman, Sean O'Bryan, Daniel R. Hill, John Marshall Jones, and Jeremy Glazer. This looks very much like a Kentucky woods thriller, exactly as it sounds, with some twists & turns to go along with the survival. Not sure if it's any good though. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Jen McGowan's Rust Creek,...
