Back in 2018, Netflix launched its “Summer of Love” slate, which featured six original romantic comedies that brought excitement to a fading genre. Among the stand-out films was Susan Johnson’s adaptation of Jenny Han’s To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. The story of Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky’s (Noah Centineo) fake-romance-turned-real was an instant success, capturing the hearts of viewers with its endearing characters, relatable themes, and undeniable chemistry between the leads.

JoJo Siwa, the 18-year-old internet sensation who came out in January, will soon star in the movie “Bounce,” an adaptation of Megan Shull’s popular young adult novel of the same name. If Paramount Players gives “Bounce” the greenlight, it would begin filming in the fall for a 2022 release. But in a recent Entertainment Weekly cover story, Siwa made headlines by saying that she doesn’t want to have a kissing scene with a male character in it: “I’m madly in love and I do not want to kiss another human,” she told the magazine. “Especially because it’s a man.”
She continued vehemently, according to EW: “I’m not about it. I’m trying to get it pulled so bad. It’ll happen. It’ll get pulled.”

Bounce tells the story of a teenage girl who wishes she could trade her family for a new one on Christmas Eve. Her wish is granted and she finds herself “bouncing” into the lives of other girls and living Christmas Day on repeat — learning the value of family, finding your voice and the power of love. Josann McGibbon, the writer and EP on Disney Channel’s Descendants franchise, and the scribe on such movies as Runaway Bride, Three Men and a Little Lady and the Co-ep of ABC’s Desperate Housewives, is adapting Shull’s novel.

When To All the Boys I've Loved Before premiered on Netflix in 2018, it was instantly hailed as a romantic comedy sensation. Critics centered much of this acclaim on the film's director, Susan Johnson, for infusing the story with its jubilant tone and lending her eye to smaller touches like the production design of Lara Jean's (Lana Condor) home, which was curated to represent the character's Asian heritage.
When Johnson bowed out of directing the sequel due to prior commitments, the reins were passed off to a male director, Michael Fimognari - a move that arguably resulted in diminishing returns from the franchise's inferior latter chapters. But the To All the Boys series is just one example of a frustrating pattern in the film industry: female directors establish female-focused romance franchises with strong first installments, only to be booted to make space for male successors.

To All the Boys: Always and Forever is a sweet, comforting reminder of so much of what made the original film special. In yet another winning performance, Lana Condor anchors the final adaptation of Jenny Han’s trilogy of YA romance novels about Lara Jean Song Covey as she comes into her own. Through Condor and in this film especially, it’s clear that while Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo) and romance will always be important, this is Lara Jean’s story about a young woman learning to step outside her comfort zone and follow her dreams, whatever they may be.
Lj and Peter are back together and facing down their senior year and with it, the prospect of life beyond high school. Opening with Lj’s family trip to her mother’s native Korea, the specter of separation looms large over the usual highlights like prom and the senior trip...

“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and its sequel were nothing if not dependable. When we last left star-crossed teens Lara Jean Song Covey (Lana Condor) and Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), the couple at the heart of Netflix’s most charming YA series had overcome (yet another) near-fatal relationship misunderstanding. For a romance built on miscommunications and cute complications, “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You” offered up more of the sweetness of its predecessor, with a gentle nudge into grown-up concerns. Similar issues frame the final entry in the film trilogy based on Jenny Han’s popular books, which is also touted as the conclusion to the series. “To the All the Boys: Always and Forever” marks the longest entry in the franchise, and it certainly feels it — especially through a middle both overstuffed and inert — but its otherwise keen energy often keeps it afloat.

Never mind the Oscars – the streaming event of the season is the follow-up to Netflix’s 2018 hit teen romcom To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
Netflix’s latest awards-film cycle finally wrapped up last week, having yielded an Oscar apiece for Marriage Story and the exceptional documentary American Factory, and a disappointing shutout for The Irishman, which will nonetheless live on in streaming eternity. The next round will start up soon enough, as the glitzier big-name titles on its 2020 roster pop up at various festivals. For now, however, a brief off-season ensues, as the streaming giant renews its focus on the cheaper, more televisually scaled films that the term “Netflix movie” initially connoted.
Which is not to say they can’t be a big deal. In streaming terms, the arrival of the somewhat awkwardly titled To All the Boys: Ps I Still Love You on the Netflix menu last week was a blockbuster-scale event.

Lara Jean Song Covey has always had a way with words. That’s precisely what started the action in Netflix’s winning 2018 teen rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” which offered a contemporary twist on the Cyrano mythos with a hefty dose of the ever-popular “let’s be fake boyfriend and girlfriend” storyline that has driven many a big screen high school romance. Based on Jenny Han’s young adult novel trilogy, that film hinged on the release of a pack of love letters written by romance-obsessed Lara Jean (budding star Lana Condor), who poured her heart out on the page, never expecting that any of the objects of her affection would ever receive her missives. Well, they did, and thus Netflix’s first great Ya film franchise was born, one that gets a charming update in the film’s first of two planned sequels, which find Lara...

Netflix debuted a first look at the sequel to its hit romantic comedy, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.”
The follow-up, titled “To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You,” catches up with high-school sweethearts Lara Jean (portrayed by Lana Candor) and Peter (Noah Centineo). But there’s a sense that things might not be as peachy as they seem.
Their relationship takes a complicated turn when Lara Jean’s old crush, John Ambrose McLaren (played by Jordan Fisher), shows up. He reveals that he received a letter from Lara Jean expressing her love for him in middle school, one of many sent out by her younger sister in the first movie.
“I’m gonna need that letter back,” Lara Jean tells McLaren, who jokes, “I’m gonna need proof that someone actually liked me in middle school.”

It seemed like any other movie premiere.
Journalists and photographers swarmed the red carpet as stars Tessa Thompson and Justin Theroux smiled gamely for pictures and struck a pose, just as they would for any other Hollywood screening. Except there was one key difference. The film they were in New York City to promote last week, a live-action remake of “Lady and the Tramp,” is helping to usher in a new frontier of moviemaking. Instead of bowing in theaters, it will debut on streaming platform Disney Plus.

The sequel to Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” has made some significant changes behind the scenes from the first movie, but switching out one of Lara Jean’s love interests has caused quite an uproar. Talented actor, dancer, and singer Jordan Fisher has been cast as the charming John Ambrose, a move that has created mixed feelings for fans.
In the first film, Lara Jean Covey’s (Lana Condor) childhood love letters that she had no intention of mailing get leaked to her five crushes during her junior year in high school. She eventually ends up dating one of the boys, Peter Kavinsky (Noah Centineo), but during the end credits, John Ambrose (Jordan Burtchett) shows up on her doorstep with one of the incriminating letters.
Fisher’s casting is a surprise for fans who had expected Burtchett to reprise his role as John Ambrose, a potential rival for Peter.

"HBO is keeping much of what happens in Game of Thrones Season 8 a secret, but we do know the Night King and his forces are looming large. The Army of the Dead is ready to do even more damage after bringing down the wall, but no matter what he does, the Night King has to lose, right? Maybe not, according to several new interviews with the cast and crew of Game of Thrones Season 8. 'I don’t think of him as evil, I think of him as Death,' showrunner David Benioff told Entertainment Weekly of the Night King. 'And that’s what he wants — for all of us. It’s why he was created and that’s what he’s after.
