From left: Ada Jaurez, Edith Johnson, and Téa Campbell
Meet Me @ the Altar's band name came serendipitously over a text. Drummer Ada Jaurez and guitarist Téa Campbell were swapping messages in 2015 when they stumbled across the moniker of Gen Z's next great punk group. An occurrence like this feels perfectly suited for this trio - Juarez, Campbell, and lead vocalist Edith Johnson - who all connected virtually before Zoom meetings were the norm. They organized a band in different states and wrote songs miles apart, with a shared vision to bring a 2008 sound back to the foreground.
Flash forward six years, and Meet Me @ the Altar finally live under the same roof. They're able to collaborate in the same room instead of over texts, which is ideal considering the group is releasing their debut EP, Model Citizen, on August 13. They're proud recipients of Halsey's Black Creators Fund. They're...

Since pop punk broke through in the Nineties, the genre’s most prominent faces have been largely white (not unlike dozens of other scenes). But as the music industry begins waking up to its history of race and gender inequality, one band is ready to rewrite that unspoken rule: Meet Me @ the Altar, one of 2021’s most exciting new rock acts.
Guitarist-bassist Téa Campbell, 20, and drummer Ada Juarez, 22, met online in 2015 after Campbell stumbled upon Juarez’s drum cover of a Twenty One Pilots song. Despite living in different states (Florida and New Jersey,...

Well, more accurately Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Hive (Brett Dalton), who just so happens to be inhabiting the corpse of former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and friend/lover/sworn enemy of Miss Johnson’s, Grant Ward.
This new batch of promotional stills from season 3, episode 18 of Marvel’s Agents of S,H.I.E.L.D., “The Singularity”, feature both characters having a surprisingly calm little chat while taking in a scenic view. Daisy has every reason in the world to hate both Ward and the parasitic entity that’s living within him… so why isn’t she unleashing her Quake powers on his malnourished ass?
Well, on tomorrow’s instalment, Daisy and her Secret Warriors infiltrate a Hydra base, so there’s a pretty good chance Hive intervenes and takes Daisy prisoner. Perhaps she’s simply aware of his power and realizes...

Stepping out for some media duties, Dakota Johnson paid a visit to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Friday (September 18).
And of course, Ellen couldn’t help bring up “Fifty Shades of Grey,” despite the fact that Miss Johnson was actually in the house to plug her new movie “Black Mass.” DeGeneres gave her a flogger and handcuffs, showing that she, too, has a naughty side!
Of the public’s reaction to her erotic thriller, Dakota explained, “Sometimes people just say things that are little bit awkward for me. I was in a cab recently, and the driver was like, ‘You know, my wife and I, we saw your film.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, that’s great. Thanks.’ He’s like, ‘We really liked it.’ I was like, ‘Thank you very much.’ And he was like, ‘I thought there could be more sex.’ And I was about to roll out...

Though she’s achieved a modest fame over the years, everything is about to change for 25-year-old Dakota Johnson.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” star is featured on the front of the February 2015 issue of Vogue magazine, and that’s just the beginning of what’s sure to be a tidal wave of high-profile opportunities.

She's taking on the role as Anastasia Steele in the highly anticipated film "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie adaptation, but even Dakota Johnson can admit she's experienced some boring moments on the set.
In the March 2014 issue of Vanity Fair magazine, the 24-year-old actress opened up about her approach to prepping for the upcoming flick and revealed her thoughts on working with actor Jamie Dornan
"[I did] a lot of getting into the character's head - Ana's headspace - kind of before she meets Christian," Miss Johnson explained. "So it's kind of reading, which I love. But she's an English major, so that's kind of boring."
Despite the before work being dull, Dakota stated she loves being on set with Jamie and director Sam Taylor-Johnson. "It's been a very smooth, fun and creative experience. I think going into something like this you kind of have all these different fears of what it...

Taking time away from the set of her highly anticipated film "Fifty Shades of Grey," Dakota Johnson garnered herself a little added exposure by covering the March 2014 issue of Elle magazine.
The 24-year-old actress looked absolutely stunning in designer garbs from Burberry Prorsum and Jason Wu for the sultry Carter Smith-shot spread while chatting about everything from her interest in the upcoming flick to being constantly in the spotlight.
Highlights from Miss Johnson's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to Elle!
On "Fifty Shades of Grey":
"Reading the book, I found myself more interested in the ways they were breaking each other down emotionally than the sex scenes. I think there's a part of a woman that wants to be the thing that breaks a man down."

Kicking off another busy day of filming, Dakota Johnson arrived on the set of her highly anticipated flick "Fifty Shades of Grey" in Vancouver on Wednesday (January 22).
While taking little break from the set, Miss Johnson enjoyed some quality time with a set dog and shared a few laughs with the production crew as she tried to pick up her new four-legged friend.
Meanwhile, rumors circulate about a possible feud between the director of the film Sam Taylor-Johnson and the book author E L James. Earlier in the day, E! News claimed there's been a "bit of tension" between the two during the production.
"Sam is getting annoyed about the way the script is being handled," a source stated. "E L James wants the movie to match book exactly, but Sam has a different perspective. Sam is reminding E L she writes the books and she makes movies. This has...

The search for the perfect “Fifty Shades of Grey” cast might just be called “Fifty Shades of Actors”—as the number of names bandied about for the roles keeps on growing.
The latest celebs being considered are Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam. Miss Johnson, who previously starred in the Fox-tv comedy “Ben & Kate,” is reportedly up for the lead role of Anastasia "Ana" Steele. Hunnam, of “Sons of Anarchy” fame, could become the elusive Christian Grey character.
Aside from being the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Dakota has appeared in films like “Engagement” and “21 Jump Street.” Hunnam’s movie roles include “Pacific Rim,” “Deadfall,” and “The Ledge.” He also starred in the acclaimed but short-lived Judd Apatow series, “Undeclared.”
“Fifty Shades of Grey” is slated for an August 2014 release.

Noël Coward's Brief Encounter (New Gallery) is, to my mind, not only the most mature work Mr Coward has yet prepared for the cinema, but one of the most emotionally honest and deeply satisfactory films that have ever been made in this country. I doubt very much if it will be generally popular. It represents a confidence so utterly frank that few people will be simple enough to accept it as true.
It is the story of a middle-aged married man and a middle-aged woman who meet by accident, fall deeply in love, and agree to separate and get over it. Their rendezvous is a station refreshment room in a North-Country market town. He is a doctor, who comes in every Thursday to take over a morning's duty at the local hospital. She is a housewife, who comes in to change her library book, go...
