Chris Hemsworth is the latest actor to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. His Marvel co-star Robert Downey Jr. was present at this special occasion. While the other Og Avengers stars couldn’t make it to the ceremony, they sent their best wishes via Downey Jr. Knowing their bond, it wouldn’t be a surprise that the stars chose to roast Hemsworth on his special day.

Chris Hemsworth received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and his longtime Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr. marked the occasion with a public roast of everyone’s favorite “Thor” actor. Downey asked their Marvel buddies Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans to describe Hemsworth in three words. Their answers had the audience in laughter.
“What is Chris Hemsworth?” Downey asked. “Renner says, ‘Absurdly, annoyingly amazing.’ Ruffalo came in strong with ‘friend from work.’ Scarlett got to the heart of it with ‘sensitive leading lady.’ Captain America calls him the ‘second best Chris.’ And I’ll bring it to the here and now: There is no one who deserves it more. He is ‘Hollywood star recipient.'”

Coralie Fargeat made a splash with her debut Revenge. But she was only standing in a puddle, endearing niche corners of the global cinephile community to her cinematic bloodlust for sexually violent men and gore-horror filmmaking. With her second, The Substance, she’s fully submerged in the ocean and making waves.

Scarlett Johansson has been an A-list talent for many years and has starred in a diverse range of films over the years. The actress has confidently proven that she can be a part of franchises like the MCU and also do smaller character-driven dramas like Marriage Story. The actress has also faced a lot of problems professionally where she had to take legal action.

Glen Powell may be the next ’80s-style movie star, but the actor admitted to recently turning down one of his childhood dream roles in an iconic franchise: “Jurassic Park.”
Powell told The Hollywood Reporter that he opted to not star in the latest franchise reboot for Universal, tentatively titled “Jurassic City.” Scarlett Johansson is leading the feature, with Jonathan Bailey co-starring. Gareth Edwards is directing and the reboot is slated for a July 2, 2025 release.
“‘Jurassic’ is one of my favorite movies. It’s one of the things I’ve wanted to do my whole life,” Powell said. “I’m not doing that movie because I read the script and I immediately was like, my presence in this movie doesn’t help it. Scarlett Johansson is one of the few MCU actors who have managed to maintain a splendid career after being part of such a highly beloved franchise. One would think that after her successful run in the comic book universe, the actress would want to avoid joining any more franchises and instead focus on showcasing her talents in independent features.
Yet, this assumption is far from the truth. As the dust settles on her MCU departure, the actress has taken a bold move that could prove to be a misstep in her otherwise successful career.
Scarlett Johansson in and as Black Widow | Marvel Studios
Defying fan expectations, Johansson is helming not one, but two acclaimed franchises, i.e. Transformers and Jurassic World. What could possibly be a huge gamble for her career, the actress is one of the leads in the upcoming Jurassic World reboot, apart from having a voiceover role in the Transformers franchise.

If the words “Taylor Swift” and “MCU” sound like an unlikely pairing, you’re not alone. Yet, rumors of Swift’s involvement have been circulating for months, particularly suggesting a cameo in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ as Dazzler. These rumors gained such traction that both Reynolds and director Shawn Levy addressed them on multiple occasions.
As the movie inches closer to release, the rumors have only intensified. However, a recent shift in online chatter suggests that Swift will indeed join the MCU, but not as Dazzler. Instead, she’s rumored to star in her own standalone show as Blonde Phantom.
This information comes from Daniel Richtman, a well-known industry insider and scooper. Richtman suggests that the actress has already held meetings with executives to discuss the details, positioning her as one of the top contenders for the starring role in the show.

Scarlett Johansson called out OpenAI this week for mimicking her voice for a new chatbot, underscoring the urgency that many artists feel about regulating artificial intelligence.
But in Congress, taking on AI is starting to resemble wrestling an octopus. It’s so sprawling, it’s hard to know how to begin.
The Senate AI Working Group issued a “roadmap” last week. But that left it vague where Congress is going or when it will get there.
Some have warned against stifling innovation. And while some regulation is likely to happen eventually, it appears it will be done piecemeal — one tentacle at a time.
“From the House perspective, part of the challenge is that we’re under Republican control,” Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California, co-chair of the House task force on AI, tells Variety. “It’s been very chaotic. We’re just trying to stop stupid stuff.”

We recently learned that Scarlett Johansson's next Marvel Studios project, which she'll produce rather than star in, could be The Blonde Phantom.
Now, thanks to scooper Daniel Richtman, we have a few additional details, including the fact this role is one of the characters singer Taylor Swift discussed with Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige during their recent meeting.
As we're sure you'll recall, it's been widely reported that Swift - who counts 14 Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards, 39 Billboard Music Awards, and 23 MTV Video Music Awards among her many accolades - had a "good" conversation with Feige about joining the MCU. We didn't expect Blonde Phantom to be on the list but she clearly stands out to both Johansson and Swift.
Richtman adds that this would be a spy show which takes place in Las Vegas in the 1950s.

A new lawsuit alleges that Scarlett Johansson isn’t the only celebrity being ripped off by AI voice cloning.
Two voice actors filed a class action lawsuit last week against Lovo, Inc., the startup behind an AI generator named Genny that they claim stole their voices for its software. Beyond that alleged theft, the program also offers AI-generated soundalikes of celebrity voices, including that of O’Brien.
The lawsuit by voice actors Paul Skye Lehrman and Linnea Sage alleges they were misinformed about how voice samples they provided to Lovo through freelancing website Fiverr would be used. Artists were first to sue. Then authors hit generative artificial intelligence companies with a volley of lawsuits, followed by publications. As battle lines over the use of AI tools in Hollywood are being drawn, actors may be the next group of creators to open another front in what could be an industry-defining legal battle against AI firms over the use of copyrighted works and personal data to power their human-mimicking chatbots.
On Monday, Scarlett Johansson threatened legal action against OpenAI for allegedly copying and imitating her voice after she refused to license it to the company. According to the actress, OpenAI asked her to be one of the voices called “Sky” for its newest AI system. She declined, though she said that didn’t stop chief executive Sam Altman.

Joe Biden is singling out the need for “safe, secure, trustworthy, and responsible” innovation in the use of AI generated audio, as Congress considers legislation to establish guardrails around the use of a person’s likeness without their consent.
Biden’s statement, posted to his X/Twitter account, comes as major guilds and artists groups are pushing for passage of the No Fakes Act, designed to curb the use of deepfakes. The president’s statement also comes a day after actress Scarlett Johansson called out OpenAI over the use of a similar voice to hers, even after she declined to give her consent.
Biden wrote, “Artificial intelligence and the companies that wield its possibilities are going to transform the lives of people around the world – there’s no doubt about that. But first, they must earn our trust. I commit to do everything in my power to promote and demand safe,...

YouTube is actively looking into whether OpenAI used creators’ content to train Sora, Google CEO Sundar Pichai says.
He joined The Verge editor-in-chief Nilay Patel on the latest episode of Patel’s podcast The Decoder, and said YouTube is “following up and trying to understand” recent reports alleging OpenAI scraped videos from its platform for its text-to-video generator product.
You’ve probably seen the mega-viral interview where OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati pulled quite the memorable face and said she didn’t know if Sora had been trained on YouTube videos.
“I’m actually not sure about that,” Murati told The Wall Street Journal. “You know, if they were publicly available to use, there might be data. But I’m not sure. I’m not confident about it.”

Here's some free advice for the day: If you're a multimillion-dollar corporation looking to exploit human beings for profit, maybe don't try pulling that kind of stunt with Scarlett Johansson, of all people? Disney learned this the hard way back in the summer of 2021, when the studio used the pandemic as an excuse to turn the release of Marvel's "Black Widow" into a day-and-date premiere both in theaters and on Disney+ streaming ... and subsequently found themselves in breach of the lead actor's contract. When Johansson took the unprecedented step of filing a lawsuit against one of the biggest and most powerful conglomerates in the world for going back on what should've been an exclusive theatrical window, Disney ended up settling the case out of court and handed the movie star an unmitigated victory. Now, it's apparently artificial-intelligence company OpenAI's turn to mess around and find out.

OpenAI has been forced to suspend its new ChatGPT voice, Sky, following claims it was mimicking Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson in 2013's Her (when this sort of thing was science fiction rather than science fact).
Johansson serving as inspiration for the system was obvious after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman simply posted "her" on X when Sky launched. He's also shared his love of Her in previous interviews, but a scathing statement from the actress herself has left the company likely fearing a lawsuit.
She's confirmed that OpenAi first approached her last September about officially becoming the voice for ChatGPT 4.0. Ultimately, Johansson declined the offer, only to once again hear from the company two days before Sky went live.
As the actress explains, she and Altman didn't get a chance to discuss the matter, forcing The Avengers star to get lawyers involved (which pushed OpenAI to "reluctantly" remove the apparent...

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has faced grave allegations recently from Hollywood sweetheart Scarlett Johansson. This is regarding the AI personal assistant voice that Sky, one of the voices in the latest ChatGPT 4.0 model’s “Voice Mode,” sports. According to these accusations, the actress has claimed that this voice released sounds eerily similar to her own from the 2013 sci-fi movie, Her.

However, through his latest statement, Altman has denied all such allegations regarding the same. But what’s surprising is that even while refuting these claims, the company has actually issued a public apology for this new AI voice at the same time — something that has left users and netizens from all around the globe utterly confused about what the company is actually trying to do.

Scarlett Johansson said she received an offer from ChatGPT to use her voice for its new system last year. After thinking about it, she declined. Yet, she said, OpenAI used a voice “eerily similar” to her own anyway.
In a statement to Rolling Stone on Monday, the actress shared that she was “shocked, angered and in disbelief” that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman used a voice so similar to her own for ChatGPT 4.0. that “my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference.” OpenAI claimed they used the voice of an unnamed actress.

Scarlett Johansson is hitting back at OpenAI, claiming that the company has used her voice to create one of its “Voice Mode” options even after she declined a collaboration offer from the company’s CEO Sam Altman.
In a statement shared on Monday, Johansson explained that Altman sought to “hire” her “to voice the current ChatGPT 4.0 system,” and tried to convince her to accept a collaboration by saying that she “could bridge the gap between tech companies and creatives and help consumers to feel comfortable with the seismic shift concerning humans and AI.”
Johansson, however, declined the offer. When a new voice option named “Sky” dropped recently, though — heavily resembling Johansson’s cadence and delivery — it appeared as if OpenAI went ahead and used her voice as a model anyways. Supporting that argument is the fact that Johansson voiced the chatbot in the movie, Her, and as the “Sky” voice was being demoed,...

Update: Scarlett Johansson has reacted to the AI voice in OpenAI’s ChatGPT system, saying she was “shocked” and “angered” by how closely the voice resembled her own. She also revealed that the company had actually wanted to hire her to voice the chatbot last year, but she turned down the offer, making it all the more suspicious when the final voice sounded so much like her.

Updated, 4:15 Pm: Something called “Sky” that sounds a lot like Scarlett Johansson’s voice no longer is on OpenAI, but the Her star says there’s a lot more behind the story.
For one thing, she maintains that OpenAI founder Sam Altman was advised of the actor’s objections to the voice feature but still pushed forward with the update.
Hours after OpenAI dropped the interactive “Sky” voice, one of five in its ChatGPT update, Johansson put out a statement in her own voice, literally and figuratively. It details her account of events, in which Altman sought permission to use her tones, got rejected, but moved ahead anyway – at least until lawyers were called in.

Scarlett Johansson said that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman contacted her last September about voicing the current ChatGPT 4.0 system but that she declined. After the launch of “Sky” that resembles her voice, Johansson said she’s hired legal counsel to demand more information about how the company created the AI voice model, leading the company to today “pause” its usage.
“When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered, and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference,” Johansson said in a statement shared with IndieWire on Monday, May 20.
Johansson said Altman contacted her agents two days before the release of ChatGPT 4.0 asking her to reconsider, but the demo featuring Sky was launched before they had the chance to meet.

OpenAI says its “Sky” voice for ChatGPT’s Voice Mode is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson’s voice. It is instead the “natural speaking voice” of one of its compensated voice talents, per a blog post. Still, the company says it will “pause” the availability of Sky while it addresses the issue.
“We believe that AI voices should not deliberately mimic a celebrity’s distinctive voice — Sky’s voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson but belongs to a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice,” the post reads. “To protect their privacy, we cannot share the names of our voice talents.”
OpenAI stated that they employ “well-known, award-winning” casting directors and producers to cast voice actors for the products.

Steven Spielberg’s legacy is a much-renowned one, unmarred by time and the arrival of new talent. His films have established a new era in Hollywood, through Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. When the generative artificial intelligence startup OpenAI released a demo of its new ChatGPT 4o model last week, it included extensive video of its “Voice Mode,” which features an emotive voice answering user questions.
While there are a number of voices available, viewers noticed that one of them, “Sky,” sounded suspiciously like actress Scarlett Johansson, who portrayed the voice of an emotive AI in the 2013 film Her (in fact, OpenAI founder Sam Altman posted “her” on X during the demo).
Now, OpenAI says that it is “pausing” the use of the Sky voice as it seeks to address the concerns from users about such a familiar voice being used.

There’s something strange about the franchise reboot of the big orange tabby in The Garfield Movie. For one, the story completely sidelines the relationship between Jon Arbuckle and Garfield. Another issue is that all the characters are cardboard cutouts, and you know virtually nothing about them besides how Garfield came into Jon’s possession.
Perhaps most importantly, the trademark apathetic nature of the main character is non-existent. It’s as if the studios bought the brand name and turned the character into a clone of any fish-out-of-water animation adventure. That’s what’s wrong with The Garfield Movie. What makes the character great is washed away for a run-of-the-mill animated family film that you’ve seen nine lives over.
It’s purr-fectly predictable from start to its stagnant finish.

As in recent finale episodes, Michael Che and Colin Jost wrote each other’s jokes during the Weekend Update segment in this year’s Season 49 finale. The recent assault on Steve Buscemi on the streets of New York City spawned a skit for SNL that featured Jake Gyllenhaal as an NYPD sergeant urging bad guys to “stop punching character actors in the face.”
Speaking at a press conference for reporters, Gyllenhaal called character actors “the life blood of the entertainment industry” and expressed concern about the assaults on these “national treasures.” He said the attack on Buscemi followed similar ones on Rick Moranis and the “shocking versatile Michael Stuhlbarg.”
He went on to define character actors as “actors who faces you can remember but names you cannot,” including anyone “who has ever been on the TV show Boardwalk Empire, you have a face that makes casting directors go ‘oh interesting,'” and “your IMDb page has over 100 entries, but all your characters just have a first name.”

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update reacted to the planned presidential debates between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, as well as an especially viral exchange in the House of Representatives this week involving Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-ga).
For a preview of the CNN debate in late June and the second on ABC in September, co-anchor Colin Jost suggested that viewers “take a bottle of Ambien and Adderall at the same time.”
Jost also mocked each candidate for their social media posts agreeing to the debate, as Biden addressed Trump with “Make my day,...

We’re about due for a new live-action Scooby-Doo movie, and Jake Gyllenhaal and Sabrina Carpenter are happy to hop into the Mystery Machine.
On this week’s SNL, host Gyllenhaal and musical guest Carpenter co-starred in a Scooby-Doo video short as Fred and Daphne, with Mikey Day as Shaggy and Sarah Sherman as Velma, along with a CGI Scooby. The gang searched a spooky haunted house for “the Shadow Phantom,” capturing the villain after Scooby knocked a suit of armor onto him. In typical Scooby fashion, Fred tore off the Phantom’s mask to reveal (gasp!) Old Man Franklin.

Colin Jost and Michael Che continued their Saturday Night Live “Weekend Update” tradition of swapping jokes and writing zingers for each other to say.
Che started by saying that the last time he tricked Jost into thinking he had invited a civil rights hero, “and that was low. So to make it up to you this time, I invited an actual, practicing rabbi.”
Jost started off by addressing the Jerry Seinfeld commencement speech at Duke where students were seen walking out.
“I think that’s disgraceful. During these difficult times it’s important to support our Jewish friends. That’s why the only chant you’ll hear from me is, ‘Free [Harvey] Weinstein!,'” Jost read.

It’s the end of the road for Saturday Night Live’s 49th season — and host Jake Gyllenhaal has the perfect way to say goodbye.
During his monologue that kicked off this week’s season finale, Gyllenhaal started out with some thinly veiled complaints that he’s stuck hosting the Season 49 finale and not the landmark Season 50 premiere. (He missed it by that much!) But he was still honored to host an SNL season finale, and he decided to commemorate it with a song, grabbing the mike to croon a version of the classic Boyz II Men torch song “End of the Road.
