- Syrie was born in New York state to Morton and Joann Astrahan. Her name is pronounced like the App Siri. Syrie's father worked at IBM and was a leader in computer science. Syrie was Valedictorian of her high school class and graduated cum laude from U.C. Davis with a B.A. in English and Communications. She has sold twenty screenplays and teleplays to Tri-Star Pictures, Fox Family Films, ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX TV and the Lifetime Network. She is also a produced playwright and the author of 13 published novels.
