Realm, the largest scripted podcast network, today announced the upcoming release of America 2.0, a scripted audio drama starring Patrick J Adams (“Suits”) as an idealistic first term congressman, launching May 2.
Entangled in his first ever controversy, Seth McGuire (Adams) finds himself ill-equipped to navigate D.C.’s treachery. His only hope comes from a big idea to give every American citizen one million dollars.
Inspired by the optimistic storytelling in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and The West Wing, co-creators J S Mayank and David Carlyle wanted to put out a message of hope. “Politics is supposed to be aspirational, and yet it’s become anything but. Our cast and crew wanted to bring back high-minded, civil discourse—all while making politics entertaining again,” said Mayank.
In addition to Adams, the podcast features an extensive cast of Hollywood stars, including Emmy Award-winning and Oscar nominated actor Laurence Fishburne, Shanola Hampton...

Sunday’s SAG Awards ceremony will be a streaming event for the first time on the Netflix YouTube channel. One of the highlights each year is the special In Memoriam segment. It’s been a particularly rough year with over 100 deaths of prominent actors and actresses who were likely members of SAG/AFTRA. Show producers typically are able to include approximately 40-50 people in a tribute.
Among that group will certainly be Oscar winners Louise Fletcher, William Hurt and Irene Cara, plus nominees Angela Lansbury (a SAG life achievement recipient) and Melinda Dillon. Emmy champs Mary Alice, Kirstie Alley, Leslie Jordan, Ray Liotta, Stuart Margolin, Robert Morse and Barbara Walters.

Who are the 5 Emmy winners that contended as both series regulars and guests for the same character?
In 1965, Don Knotts made history as the first actor to step away from an Emmy-winning sitcom role while the show was still running. After playing Barney Fife on the first five seasons of “The Andy Griffith Show” and collecting three supporting trophies, he moved on to a film career by signing a contract with Universal Studios. As the show continued for three more years, Knotts returned for five special appearances and ended up earning two additional Emmys. He was the first person to be nominated as a regular supporting player and guest star for the same role on the same series. In the 55 years since, he has been followed by two dozen others, including five more double winners.
Cloris Leachman emulated Knotts in 1975 when her fourth bid and second win for “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” came for what was deemed a single performance rather than a supporting one. She...

On Wednesday, Dec. 4, with the premiere of acclaimed filmmaker Frank Darabont's "Mob City," TNT brings the classic gangster drama to Tinseltown, which does have the gritty urban landscapes of New York and Chicago, the sandy beaches and palm trees of Miami and Havana, the tall buildings and neon signs of Las Vegas, and even snow (miles away on mountaintops, that is).
When it's pointed out Los Angeles isn't associated with the mob as much as other cities, Darabont tells Zap2it, "Well, all the more reason to tell the story of the mob that was, because it's a largely unexplored area. You've seen lots of stories about the mob in Chicago and New York back East.
"It's a lesser-known bit of history now, but it was very prevalent, it was fascinating, what was going on. I didn't even know the extent of it, until I read John Buntin's book,...

It was Rebecca that made me pay attention to The Mentalist. I had never seen the CBS crime drama starring Simon Baker until the eighth episode of season 2. “His Red Right Hand” was the one where a secretary in the Sacramento offices of the California Bureau of Investigation shot Sam Bosco (Terry Kinney) and two other agents on behalf of a serial killer — Red John, a brilliant phantom with a blood-drawn smiley face insignia, powerful influence and connections, and a scores of similarly brain-sick and unnervingly gleeful devotees.

Covert Affairs resumes its fourth season Thursday night with Annie (Piper Perabo) having faked her own death and now hunting Henry Wilcox’s (Gregory Itzin) ex-wife solo to see if she can turn her against him and bring him down. “She’s completely in the dark, which is a really exciting dynamic going into the back six,” co-creator Chris Ord told EW after the summer finale. “We’ll see Annie in situations where normally she’d have the opportunity to just call Auggie or the CIA, but she won’t now. And that compounds the challenge of all those situations.

USA has picked up a fifth season of its spy drama "Covert Affairs," a couple weeks before the final episodes of Season 4 arrive on the cable channel.
"No other series on television travels the globe to tell a story like 'Covert Affairs,' and we are pleased to bring it back for another season," network head Chris McCumber says. "The series continues to be a cornerstone in our lineup."
The series averaged just under 4 million viewers for the first part of Season 4, putting it among the Top 10 scripted cable series of the summer.
It returns for its final six episodes of the season on Oct. 17 with Annie (Piper Perabo), who faked her death in the show's summer finale, now living off the grid and looking for a way to bring Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin) down.
Season 5 will run 16 episodes and will premiere sometime next year.

TNT‘s upcoming Mob City (Dec. 4) has released new key art, and basically the show is laying its cards on the table… do with that what you will. It’s a show that builds in as much audience as it might hope for just by putting Frank Darabont on display, and it even throws in some actors from The Walking Dead for good measure.
Of course, it also has the mob, Ed Burns, and takes place in the ’40s (period is popular).
But, just in case that isn’t enough… well, it has this poster.

Things are getting tough for Annie on "Covert Affairs." After all, the death of Henry Wilcox's mole has been discovered and the race is on to make sure that the show's hero doesn't go to jail for murder.
That could be tricky, now that the FBI is investigating Seth Newman's death. These five clues about "Space (I Believe In") show just how tricky everything is.
Warning: Minor "Covert Affairs" spoilers lie ahead. Proceed with caution.
In the episode, Annie (Piper Perabo) has to infiltrate the FBI investigation herself if she wants to keep the truth hidden. Her efforts might be somewhat complicated, however, when Henry (Gregory Itzin) offers Annie the opportunity of a lifetime. The result of all of this is tension -- lots of racing-against-the-clock, high-drama tension. It's excellent.

Fans of quality television are getting their fix from cable networks these days, and TNT has another effort that it hopes is going to soar, Mob City. Frank Darabont's Mob City promises violence, gangsters, the glamour of mid-century L.A., and Simon Pegg...
First it was L.A. Noire, then City Of Angels, and now Frank Darabont's 1940s La cop drama goes by the name of Mob City. Whatever he's calling it, we think you'll agree that this new drama from the former The Walking Dead showrunner, Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile writer/director promises to be something quite special.
Set six years before James Ellroy's L.A. Confidential, Mob City is based on John Buntin's L.A. Noir: The Struggle For The Soul Of America's Most Seductive City, a chronicle of the battle between the city's Dragnet-era police and Mickey Cohen's criminal gang.
The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal plays ex-marine Det. Joe Teague, part of the task force constructed to sweep organised crime from the city.

TNT has set a premiere date for "Mob City," an upcoming drama created by Frank Darabont ("The Walking Dead"). This event series will premiere on Dec. 4, 2013.
The show focuses on an epic battle that arises between a Los Angeles police chief and a mobster in 1947. Detective Joe Teague (Jon Bernthal) is an ex-marine who has just been assigned to a mob task force headed by Detective Hal Morrison (Jeffrey DeMunn). They're part of a larger effort by Police Chief William Parker (Neal McDonough) that is supposed to remove mob-related criminals from La. The cops will, however, have trouble getting rid of mobsters like Ben "Bugsy" Siegel (Ed Burns) and Mickey Cohen (Jeremy Luke). Chief Parker has to be ruthless with the criminals -- and also with anyone on the police force who might be corrupt.
Other actors involved in the project include Gregory Itzin, Robert Knepper, Milo Ventimiglia and Alexa Davalos.
