(special note: My DVR messed up last week and recorded an old episode of Top Gear instead of Terra Nova. I was finally able to watch it last night, and here’s the review!)
In this week’s episode, we learn that people enjoy fishing for huge fish from the top of high cliffs, hero worship isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, the Sixers have more tech than one might expect, and one of the main characters may well need to be classified as “too stupid to live”.
We start with the fishing, with Commander Taylor (Stephen Lang), and Jim (Jason O’Mara), firing bait with longbows. They then hook what looked like some sort of primitive marlin, though the CGI was too horrible to really judge.
On the way back to the colony, they stumble across an old fire. Taylor reasons that...

Welcome back to your weekly dose of Terra Nova. What have we got this week? Betrayal. Murder. Fishing? Let’s take a look!
The Quick ‘n’ Dirty:
It seems that Taylor and Jim are cementing their bromance with a fishing trip. Not for sockeye salmon, mind you. But a ginormous prehistoric swordfish, of course!
Later on in the day, Taylor and Jim come upon a recently abandon campfire. Taylor tells Jim to head back to Terra Nova while he investigates. What Taylor comes up on is disgraced solider Curran, who had been exiled from Terra Nova a few episodes ago for killing a fellow officer. He’s been wounded in the leg by a dinosaur that has a poisonous bite and waits for their prey to weaken before eating them.
Taylor takes care of the dinosaur with a well-placed torch and gives Curran an antidote to the poison. But what’s the catch?...

Terra Nova: “Proof” – Recap
“Proof” did a good job of presenting an episode that was more or less driven by the younger cast members. Aside from Taylor’s tracking of Curran, Maddy and Josh are the stars of this hour, with one tackling a case of identity fraud while the other brings their journey to its climax. The two are thankfully separated from their parents for a good portion of the episode; instead they interact with the supporting cast, such as Malcolm and Boylan. It was a positive step toward not relying on the Shannon’s being a family to tell cohesive and compelling stories.
I enjoyed Maddy’s investigation of Ken Horton, even though it turned in to a watered down version of something you’d see on some police procedural. I was mainly intrigued by the work the Horton imposter was doing, discovering new species and how...

There were parts of "Proof" that I actually enjoyed. In fact, Maddie's turn as a detective - in attempting to take down the man masquerading as her apparent hero - was surprisingly one of the highlights.
The problem with Terra Nova continues to be that there are just so many... problems. The acting is subpar, the dialogue is some kind of awful and even when you think a story is going somewhere interesting, it turns out to be a dud.
I was completely invested in the Josh and Mira story when I though the latter was letting the former go in exchange for a favor down the road that was going to be important. I thought it would be for something she had planned. The fact that she used up that favor the very next episode in order to help her sick Sixers was extremely disappointing.

When Smallville announced it was in its final stretch, a new inevitability arose: when would fans get their 'Complete Series' DVD and Blu-ray sets? For now, the answer is still a vague "Fall 2011" (though it's going to be the same day they release the 10th season), but until then fans can begin pondering the question that every faithful fan of every TV show has to ask themselves. What to do when that 'Complete Series' set of your favorite show hits the shelves. For Smallville fans, I'm guessing this will either be a wash or a case of double-dipping (and selling off single season sets on craigslist or eBay), because part of the effort in keeping their beloved show soaring over Metropolis was buying up the DVD sets with gusto.
So what's the double-dip incentive? Some brand spanking new extra features. Hit the jump for details and a look at the packaging.
