Fandango was privileged to be part of a panel of movie experts invited by MTV News to dissect this year's top Oscar categories and deliver our predictions. MTV correspondent Joshua Horowitz led myself, VH1’s Janelle Snowden, Entertainment Weekly’s Darren Franich and Extra’s Ben Lyons in a spirited, entertaining discussion on this year’s Oscar nominees for segments that will be streaming in MTV.com during the week as we lead up to the Oscar telecast. Earlier, we posted clips of the Oscar experts batting around Best Supporting Actor and Actress nominees. Today, the conversation heats up with breakdowns of the Best Actor and Actress races. The first race is kind of over even before it starts, with all five of us...

Fandango recently visited the New York offices of MTV News, where correspondent Joshua Horowitz invited Oscar experts for a series of lively chats about the top categories in this Sunday’s Academy Awards. Together with VH1’s Janelle Snowden, Entertainment Weekly’s Darren Franich and Extra’s Ben Lyons, we hashed out who we thought should win in the major Oscar categories, who actually will win, and who was on the outside looking in. Our predictions will be streaming in MTV.com during the week as we lead up to the Oscar telecast, but we have two to share with you right now. We started the session talking about the Best Supporting Actress category to figure out if anyone could upset Anne Hathaway and her stirring performance in Tom Hooper’s Les...

While it might seem like things are in a whirlwind with Kristen Stewart right now - what with The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 and On The Road promos on deck at the moment - beyond these two releases she didn't have any new projects fully lined up ... until now. According to Deadline, Kristen Stewart is now considering a Warner Bros. film called Focus, which will star Ben Affleck and will be co-directed by Crazy, Stupid, Love' Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. The film reportedly centers on con artists who link up, with one being more experienced in the business than the other (Stewart's role would be the latter). Journalist Joshua Horowitz with MTV spoke with Kristen Stewart last week in support of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 and tweeted, "By the way Kristen Stewart told me her next project might be announced as soon as the next week or two.

'I think we got a good shot with Melissa [for Best Supporting Actress],' Paul Feig tells us on the Golden Globes red carpet.

"Bridesmaids" might have walked away from the Golden Globes empty-handed, but the raunchy comedy is still considered a dark horse for the upcoming Oscar race. Nominees won't be announced until January 24, and many experts are guessing that the film might sneak into the pool of Best Picture nominees.
Director Paul Feig is similarly optimistic. MTV News caught up with him on the red carpet before the Globes where he chatted about his predictions for "Bridesmaids'" Oscar chances.
"I'm really pulling for Melissa [McCarthy]. I think we got a good shot with Melissa [for Best Supporting Actress]," he said. "I think the girls have a good shot for the screenplay."
But what about their Best Picture odds? Feig isn't holding his breath.

Robert Pattinson reveals the name of his new dog and confirms he found the puppy at a shelter.
Doggate is officially solved. We’ve been hearing rumors about Rob Pattinson’s dog for a few weeks but he is now opening up about his new companion. Rob revealed during an MTV interview that his new dog is named Bear. But what kind of dog is it?
“It’s called Bear . . . He was called Yogi Bear in the shelter, and I thought Yogi Bear was a bit much,” Rob explained to Joshua Horowitz. Rob adopted the puppy from a shelter in Louisiana while filming Breaking Dawn and ever since we have been trying to guess what kind of dog he has. Nikki Reed told HollywoodLife.com that one of her dogs looks like a bigger version of Rob’s puppy.
“It’s a little puppy, common mongrel,” Rob tells Elle Russia via Robert Pattinson News UK.

Just in case you wanted a color pic to go with your shot of John Cusack in "The Raven" from earlier today, he tweeted a creepy accompaniment that you may wish to check out.
Elsewhere, Miley Cyrus is still grabbing attention with that bong video from last week, and Seth MacFarlane suggested how she might have avoided being identified. And speaking of uncomfortable moments, an alternate "Yogi Bear" ending that you're not likely to see in theaters has been making the tweet rounds and was passed along by Paul Scheer to his followers today. You'll understand what I'm talking about down below, where you'll also find Jessica Alba sharing a special moment with MTV News' own Joshua Horowitz.

Junkets are completely useless, and it's like murder for the actors involved. Reporters and movie bloggers are given 5 to 10 minutes with an actor, and the actor spends 8 hours going from reporter to reporter answering the same 8 questions over and over as though the "witty" reporter were the first person to ever ask the actress what it was like to be naked or whether Adam Sandler is a good kisser. It's brutal.
In fact, in recent memory, there have only been three junket interviews to my knowledge that have been worth a damn. There was the brilliant Texas reporter who went Between Two Ferns on Zach Galifianakis, and the junket where the Harry Potter cast was asked to demonstrate their American accents. The latter interview was conducted by Joshua Horowitz over at MTV's Movie Blog, and he's also responsible for the one below, where he asks Ryan Gosling if he's heard of the "Fuck Yeah,...

So MTV Movies' Joshua Horowitz and I both get a lot of flak for our love of M. Night Shyamalan's dark superhero movie "Unbreakable," but that hasn't stopped us from pestering the filmmaker about a potential sequel every time we have the chance.
Back in June during "The Last Airbender" press junket, the filmmaker told me he was searching for "the right story" for "Unbreakable 2." Now, promoting the first of his "Night Chronicles" film series, "Devil," Shyamalan once again fielded the question — and revealed that his "Unbreakable 2" story will indeed hit the big screen, but as a completely different film.
"I cannibalized the idea for the sequel to 'Unbreakable' for one of the 'Night Chronicles,'" revealed Shyamalan.
"It was such a cool idea for a villain, and it was actually originally in the script for 'Unbreakable,' and it was too much," he said...

MTV News has already interviewed Robert Rodriguez and the casts of "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" and "Red" at San Diego Comic-Con this week. On Saturday, the headlining actors from Marvel and DC's biggest upcoming films are going to be here, though, as Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively from "Green Lantern," "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth and director Kenneth Branagh and "The First Avenger: Captain America" cast members Chris Evans and Hugo Weaving hang out during our extra-large Saturday livestream event at 6Pm Est.
Questions will be answered, even more guests will arrive, and Seth MacFarlane himself will join MTV Movies editor Joshua Horowitz as we bring you even more shocking details and breaking news straight from San Diego where it's all going down.
This could be the biggest Marvel/DC crossover event since George Pérez drew "Jla/Avengers," but you won't know for sure unless tune in here to watch tomorrow.

From Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" to Jodie Foster in "Taxi Driver" and Julia Roberts in "Pretty Woman," in Hollywood, playing a prostitute can seem like a rite of passage for many actresses. Screen vixen Megan Fox will join the ranks of A-listers cast as paid temptresses when "Jonah Hex" opens on Friday. When MTV News caught up with the star, she suggested that all actors should at some point take on the role of lady of the night. (Actually, she even recommended it to our own Josh Horowitz, but added he might first consider shaving what she called his "Jaws" beard.

Way back in October 2009, we called out a scene in a French-language "Iron Man 2" featurette that included a shot of Scarlett Johansson wearing one of Iron Man's gloves while Robert Downey Jr. helps her aim the gauntlet's repulsor. A few months later, we got a peek at the finished version of the scene in the "Iron Man 2" trailer, which featured "Natalie Rushman" (a.k.a. Black Widow) firing off a shot while Tony Stark looks on.
Cut to the arrival of "Iron Man 2" in theaters and, well... the scene is nowhere to be found in the film.
During the "Iron Man 2" press junket, MTV News made sure to ask Johansson about the conspicuously omitted scene.
"It's not in the film?" asked Johansson, who hadn't seen the film at that point. (The interview was conducted a week before the U.S. premiere of "Iron Man 2.

"Jonah Hex" arrives in theaters June 18, featuring Brolin as the scarred bounty hunter out to bring down Quentin Turnbull, an evil plantation owner (played by John Malkovich) who's out to raise an undead army.

MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz chatted up the "Hex" star to get his take on the film's evolution, where "Hex" fits in Brolin's impressive Hollywood career, and why he's hoping a movie he once said was "horrible" will become "even more absurdist than it already is."

Among the high points of my time as editor of Splash Page, there are a few specific moments that stick out. My interview with former "Doctor Who" star David Tennant almost made me hyperventilate, and the time I spent talking about ninja movies with Chuck Norris is still a little too unbelievable for me to wrap my head around.
And then there was the time Patton Oswalt complained about me being too geeky...
"I did two interviews with really good, knowledgeable comic book nerd guys," Oswalt told MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz when asked about his geek cred during a recent red carpet event. The writer/actor was referencing our conversation earlier this month about his new "Serenity" comic book published by Dark Horse Comics.
"After a while, I got kind of defensive," he said. "I was like, 'I don't know what you mean by that, Rick, okay? Fine, you win!

The third and final Kick-Ass poster exclusive to the South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, has been posted online by MTV. As predicted, the new poster continues the war propaganda poster theme by featuring Hit Girl (played by Chloe Moretz) in an homage to Rosie the Riveter.
The three posters — the first two featured Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) — were released to promote last night's world premiere of the movie at the opening of SXSW. To help further promote the event, Lionsgate representatives cruised the streets of Austin yesterday in a Kick-Ass SUV, offering free rides.
Today at the festival, MTV's Joshua Horowitz will host a Kick-Ass panel discussion that will include director Matthew Vaughn; the creators of the comic book that inspired the movie, writer Mark Millar and artist John Romita, Jr.; and stars Johnson, Moretz, and Mintz-Plasse. Get more information...

We already gave you the first look at two of the limited-edition "Kick-Ass" posters that will debut during this year's South By Southwest Film Festival, and now we have the third (and final) poster attendees will be able to pick up at the show.
This time around, actress Chloe Moretz channels World War II-era "Rosie the Riveter" imagery in a Hit Girl poster that proclaims "We Can Kick Ass!"
The Hit Girl poster — as well as the previous Kick-Ass and Red Mist posters — will only be available during "Kick-Ass" signings at SXSW, including Saturday morning's official "Kick-Ass" panel moderated by MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz. The film will kick off the festival at a special screening tonight, but just in case you couldn't make the trip to Austin, our "Kick-Ass" image gallery has all three SXSW posters along with more posters and images from the film.

Jessica Alba might show traces of her "Fantastic Four" character's superpowers and turn invisible when it comes time for the "Fantastic Four" reboot, but the "Valentine's Day" actress is proud of her stint as Sue Storm, one of the first female superheroes to arrive on the big screen.
In their last screen incarnation, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," Marvel's favorite superhero family fended off Galactus. Given her potential roles in "Sin City 2" and an adaptation of the French comic book series "The Insiders," it's no stretch to believe Alba will soon be kicking butt onscreen again.
"I don't know anything about it," Alba said of the "Fantastic Four" reboot during a "Valentine's Day" dinner with MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz.
While rumors of a darker "Fantastic Four" film probably don't mean we're any closer to seeing Sue Storm's possessed alter ego Malice, Alba is pleased...

Pardon the interruption of your regularly scheduled comics news, folks — but since today is new comics day, there's some info I want to send your way before you hit the shop.
If you're planning to pick up any of this week's Dark Horse Comics titles, be sure to check out the back cover for a little shout-out to your friendly neighborhood Splash Page editor, Rick Marshall (that's me). And I'm in pretty good company, too.
The "Hellboy" publisher devoted their monthly "Dark Horse Heroes" section to honoring me and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" comics writer Brad Meltzer (so any negative effect my photo has on the comic's value is balanced out by Meltzer's handsome mug). While I'm honored to be one step closer to actually being a superhero, this seems like a good time to thank all of you for reading Splash Page and let you know where else to...

Brace yourselves, Spider-fans: We have our first official pitch for the new Peter Parker.
At last night's red carpet for the National Board of Review, "Weeds" star Hunter Parrish threw his hat into the reboot ring, telling MTV News he's got the right stuff to bring your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man to the big screen.
"I hear Spider-Man is up for grabs, so I'm going to go for that one," he said.
When asked if he had what it takes to play a teenage Peter Parker, Parrish grabbed MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz's glasses, put them on and made his pitch for the role.
"Look at me!" he laughed. "Come on, look! Peter Parker! Spider-Man!"
While Parrish wasn't among our original list of actors who could play Peter Parker in the new "Spider-Man," it seems like he could be a worthwhile addition to the pool of potential bookworms-turned-superheroes. What do you think?...

For this week's final Halloween movies list, I decided to turn hit up the real superstars: my co-workers here in the MTV Newsroom who keep this great ship moving every damn day. After the jump you'll find recommendations and reminiscences from around the office. If you're game for some heavy reading, make sure to check out the last write-up, detailing Joel Hanek's pick: "Ernest Scared Stupid." Oh yes, he went there.
As for myself (MTV Movies Blog editor Adam Rosenberg), it's a toss-up. To this day I still have occasional nightmares relating to "Candyman," the Bernard Rose-directed, Virginia Madsen-starring horror flick based on a tale by novelist Clive Barker. There's something uniquely terrifying about the Candyman's ability to attack at any time, day or night. When horror can touch you even in the relative safety of sunlight, that's something to fear.

Yesterday, our chat with "Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau yielded the news that Favreau won't be directing "The Avengers," but today we get a little insight into Tony Stark's upcoming return to the big screen.
Bouncing around a golf cart during the "Couples Retreat" press junket in Bora Bora, Favreau told with MTV Movies editor Joshua Horowitz that the primary relationship driving "Iron Man 2" is still Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow)—despite the introduction of Scarlett Johansson's Russian superspy, Natasha Romanoff (a.k.a Black Widow).
"I think the central relationship is still those two characters," Favreau told MTV News. "It's still Pepper and Tony."
"We introduce Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and she has a dual identity, so that ends up affecting both the superhero side of things and the personal side of things—as I think all good superhero plotlines do,...

Actor Elias Koteas might be best-known to Splash Page readers for his role as Casey Jones in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movies, but when we were getting ready to speak to him about his upcoming film "Defendor" with Woody Harrelson, we noticed an interesting entry in his online resume. According to Wikipedia (not the most reliable source of information, we know), Koteas has a role in the live-action "Green Lantern" movie scheduled for release in 2011.
According to Koteas, the "Green Lantern" role is news to him.
"Am I in the movie?" asked Koteas when MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz brought up the project's presence on his wiki-based resume.
After confirming that he hasn't heard a thing about the film, Koteas said that doesn't mean he wouldn't be willing to join the cast alongside star Ryan Reynolds.
"Sure, the more the better. I need the work," he laughed, adding, "Maybe they're confusing me with someone.

From Splash Page: Ever since Michael Caine infamously name-checked Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman as potential cast members for the next "Batman" movie, he's been on notice. According to Caine, who's currently making the rounds promoting his upcoming film "Harry Brown," he hasn't been on the receiving end of any details regarding Christopher Nolan's next foray in the Bat-universe... but that doesn't mean he isn't interested in where the franchise goes next.
MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz caught up with Caine during the Toronto International Film Festival (where the "news" first got started last year) to pick his brain about the next "Batman" movie and joke about the scoop that rocked the 'Net.

"Jonah Hex" will be "super-violent" despite being a PG-13 movie, so claimed its female lead Megan Fox. When MTV Movies Editor Joshua Horowitz sat down with this star of "Jennifer's Body", the 23-year-old shared what to be expected from the DC Comics' adaptation.
"I think it's a really good interpretation of the comic," gushed Fox when responding to Horowitz's statement about the movie being kind of insane interpretation of the comics. She then added, "It somehow manages to be super-violent while still having a PG-13 rating. I don't know how they did that."
The "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" actress went on to talk about her co-stars. "It looks incredible and I've never been so blown away with the performances in an action film aside from my own as I am in this one," she revealed. "Because it's [Josh] Brolin and [John] Malkovich and Michael Fassbender, and these theater actors who are just phenomenons and brilliantly talented.
