TrustNordisk has sold family animation Super Charlie to additional territories ahead of showing new footage in a promo reel today (May 14) in Cannes.
Deals have been struck for Poland (Best Film Co), Portugal (Pris audiovisuals), Bulgaria (Pro Films) and Middle East (Empire Networks).
3D animation Super Charlie is adapted from Camilla Lackberg’s book series, about a young boy whose dreams of becoming a superhero and fighting crime like his policeman father are shattered when his baby brother Charlie is born – and has superpowers himself. It is in production ahead of a Nordic release on December 12 this year.

Netflix announced six new Nordic feature film productions at its Next on Netflix showcase in Stockholm on Monday.
The showcase, which followed similar events in Germany and London last week, gave updates on 26 titles across film and TV, including 12 new titles. For the new Nordic TV line-up, read here.
On the cinema front, new Nordic movies include an adaptation of the Key Series crime whodunnit books about Private detective Julia Stark, by Alex Ahndoril, the pseudonym for husband and wife writers Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril.
Working titled The Key Series, the debut feature-length instalment will see Julia Stark hired by a wealthy family to solve a murder been committed at their estate in the northwest of Sweden.
Banijay company Filmlance is lead producing. Casting and the delivery date has yet to be confirmed.

TrustNordisk has sealed several deals on 3D family animation Super Charlie at this week’s European Film Market.
The film, written and directed by Jon Holmberg, has sold to the UK (Kaleidoscope), Baltics (Estin Film), former Yugoslavia (McF Megacom) and Vietnam (Blue Lantern Corp).
The Swedish title is produced by Gustav Olden for Nordisk Film Production Sweden.

German film and TV company Telepool, jointly owned by Hollywood actor-producer Will Smith and Swiss investor Elysian Fields, is moving forward in multiple areas of the entertainment business, CEO André Druskeit tells Variety. Druskeit reveals a major new acquisition for its German distribution arm, and Julia Weber, head of theatrical sales and acquisitions at Telepool’s world sales arm Global Screen, speaks about the films making their market premieres at this month’s European Film Market in Berlin.
Last year Telepool launched into theatrical distribution in Germany, and continues this year with titles such as “Ironbark,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Now the company has acquired the German distribution rights for the next Will Smith movie, “King Richard,” about the father of tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams, Druskeit says. Final titles revealed for the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus strands.
The Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 20-Mar 1) has revealed the final raft of titles that will comprise its Generation strand and confirmed that 58% of the features and shorts in the youth section are directed by women.

Produced by Good Thing Productions’ Nick Batzias with Anna Kaplan and Virginia Whitwell, the film will screen in the Kplus section of the Generation program, which this this year is tagged: ‘Giving the Oppressed a Voice.’
A three year self-described labour of love, 2040 takes the form of a visual letter from the filmmaker to his four-year-old daughter Velvet, showing her what the year 2040 could look like “if we simply embraced the best solutions that exist today.”
