Making much of the year’s top athletes, the 2013 Espy Awards too place at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre La Live earlier this evening (July 17).
With Vintage Trouble serving as the house band and Jon Hamm manning the emcee position, the 21st edition of the Espys was a raging success, complete with plenty of Tinseltown celebrities as well as sports stars.
The night’s big winner was the Miami Heat, which scored the top prize for best team, while LeBron James and Serena Williams took home the awards best male and female athlete respectively.
As for the celebrity presenter roster, folks like Don Cheadle, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Ben Affleck, Selena Gomez, Jason Sudeikis, Chrissy Teigen, Lake Bell, and Kevin Bacon all turned out for their chance to pass out the evening’s trophies.
The complete list of 2013 Espys Winners is:

While last night’s Espy awards provided some big laughs, the awards show also provided moments of profundity when awards were given out to Jack Hoffman, the young boy from Nebraska who got to play alongside his Nebraska football heroes; the Hoyts, who have run hundreds of races with each other — father pushing his cerebral palsy-stricken son to the finish line; and to the amazingly talented Robin Roberts, who overcame not one but two life-threatening illnesses.
When the Arthur Ashe Courage Award was given to Roberts, it’s hard to imagine that there was a dry eye in the house.

Welcome to the ESPYs! You know, that awards show that happens on a Wednesday on Espn? Yeah, they give out awards to athletes who are like “Thanks, but I totally have an actual championship ring back at home.”
I’ve personally never felt the need to watch the awards show, or as host Jon Hamm calls it “the world’s largest gathering of people wearing sunglasses indoors,” but the idea of missing the Mad Men star hosting was too risky to pass up. Those of you who’ve seen Hamm guest on 30 Rock or make a cameo in Bridesmaids knows...

Sadly, though, not everyone was able to go home a winner. With Jon Hamm serving as host, and Selena Gomez as a presenter (she looked fabulous!), we figured there would be at least a few surprises during the telecast, but the biggest surprises turned out to be the winners — and the losers.
Espy Winners List

Best Male College Athlete: Johnny Manziel
Best Championship Performance: LeBron James

The "Gold Rush Alaska" finale is around the bend, "Never Say Die," as the February 18 episode marks the end of a season for both the series and the miners in Alaska's Porcupine Creek. Battered, weary -- and running out of money as the weather starts to turn -- Todd and Jack Hoffman and their team of miners throw caution to the wind and desperately dig deeper than ever before. Rain and thawing snow flood the mine, and Jack puts his life on the line as the glory hole caves in around the massive 100,000 pound excavator. After a blockbuster premiere on Friday, Dec. 3, and two more well-received episodes after that, Discovery's "Gold Rush: Alaska" returns after a holiday break on Friday, Jan. 7, with seven original episodes in a row, continuing to question whether a bunch of down-on-their-luck guys can turn their fortunes around with a gold strike in the Alaskan wilderness.
Of course, the wilderness isn't what it used to be, and if you're not careful, the bureaucracy could turn your dreams to mud -- literally.
,
The unscripted series follows a group of Oregon men hard-hit by the economic downturn that decides to head north with hopes of striking it rich. Led by Todd Hoffman and his father, Jack Hoffman (the only experienced miner in the bunch), the would-be gold miners sell property (including two of Jack Hoffman's planes) and scrape money together to buy heavy equipment and supplies and ship them up by barge to Alaska.
