- Harriet Sansom Harris starred in two fine productions of "The Man Who Came To Dinner" on stage. In the first, she appeared with John Mahoney at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater. She then reprised the role on Broadway, playing opposite Nathan Lane. This latter production was captured on film and subsequently broadcast.

- 2001-02 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for her work as Mrs. Meers in the stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Kaufman and Moss Hart's play, "The Man Who Came to Dinner," in a Steppenwolf Theatre Company production at the Barbican Theatre in London, England with John Mahoney, Robert Breuler, Natalie West, Shannon Cochran, Ross Lehman, and Alan Wilder in the cast. James Burrows was director.
- (2005) She acted in A.R. Gurney's play, "The Dining Room," at the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, Massachusetts with Brian Murray, Michael McDonald, Stephanie Weir, Prentiss Benjamin, and Jeremy Webb in the cast.
- (1994 to 1995 season) She acted in Craig Lucas' play, "God's Heart," in a world premiere production at the Trinity Repertory Company Theatre in Providence, Rhode Island with Ray Ford, Phyllis Kay, Ed Shea, Janice Duclos, Brienin Bryant, Avaan Patel, Rosalyn Coleman and Barbara Orson in the cast. Norman Rene was director. Eugene Lee was set designer. Walker Hicklin was costume designer. Debra J. Kletter was lighting designer. David E. Smith was sound designer. Tom Sgouros Jr. was video designer. Tori Haring-Smith was Dramaturge.
- (1985 to 1986 season) She acted in William Shakespeare's play, "A Midsummer's Night Dream," at the Tyrone Guthrie Theater, 725 Vineland Place, Minneapolis, Minnesota with Jay Patterson and David Hyde Pierce in the cast. Liviu Ciulei was director. Beni Montresor was set, lighting and costume designer.
