The Masked Singer is back, with fans tuning in every Saturday night to try to guess which celebrity is behind each costume.
Comedian Joel Dommett has returned to host proceedings, with 13 mystery stars singing familiar songs on stage, while dressed up in an outfit obscuring their identity.
Guessing along with the in-studio audience and the viewers at home are the judges: Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Rita Ora and Jonathan Ross.
One way to help narrow things down is checking out who’s been on the series before – as it seems unlikely they’d return to the show (although not impossible).
So here’s a full list of who appeared on seasons one, two, three and four…
Season one
Winner: Nicola Roberts – Queen Bee
Jason Manford – Hedgehog
Katherine Jenkins – Octopus
CeeLo Green – Monster
Denise van Outen – Fox
Jake Shears – Unicorn
Skin – Duck
Kelis – Daisy
Teddy Sheringham – Tree
Justin Hawkins – Chameleon

A-ha The Movie
In the first part of my interview with Thoman Robsahm about A-ha The Movie, we discussed how he engaged with Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Pål Waaktaar, and what he learned about how these very different personalities interacted. We talked about the vast scope of the project, which charts the band’s story across four decades, and how it was important to him to keep the focus on the music. In this second part, we discuss the band’s own musical influences, their various artistic side projects, and how he went about filming them onstage.
He almost left out the side projects, he says, because it would have been the obvious thing to drop if the film was too long, “but I feel that since this is a band so much about the different personalities. In some bands, you could argue that some of the members bring a lot less into.

An air of self-loathing and regret hangs over this 40th-anniversary documentary about the Norwegian trio who shot to fame in the 80s
It’s got to be one of the worst jobs in showbiz: being a-ha’s official photographer. Here’s the poor guy after a particularly awkward, everyone-gritting-their-teeth photo shoot: “It’s very hard as a photographer when people don’t want to be together. It shows.” And it really does show. Watching this 40th-anniversary documentary, you might conclude that what a-ha really need is a band therapist, not a photographer.
Four years in the making, a-ha: The Movie is the comprehensive story of the Norwegian trio (about 20 minutes too comprehensive for all but diehard fans). To anyone over 45, no introductions are necessary: a-ha is the band whose single Take on Me reached No 2 in the UK charts back in 1985 (it’s still a knockout pop tune with the crack-cocaine of riffs). Back then,...

A band’s 40th anniversary is nothing to sneeze at, but learning that one of the groups to reach that milestone is the Norwegian trio a-ha might warrant not so much an achoo as a gasp, double take, or “Come again?”
Since 1985, we’ve all lived with the sparkling earworm of syncopation, synth and pop crooning that is the single “Take On Me,” the kind of breakout chart-topper (in 36 countries) that you just knew was going to define an era’s sugary, youthful romanticism. The dynamically conceptualized half-animated music video didn’t hurt its immortality campaign either, with lead singer Morten Harket’s chiseled, sensitive pouty-rebel presence — someone, please, help him! — destined to adorn teenage walls everywhere. a-ha was ‘80s MTV fame personified, but that song is also a truly great pop classic.

A boy who, at the age of three, discovered that he could sing anything he wanted to, that his voice would just soar. Another who made drums out of carboard tubes and performed out on the balcony of his parents’ flat. A third, his neighbour, who loved guitar. Perhaps it was inevitable that they would find each other. They played together in high school. After leaving, Pål Waaktaar (now Pål Waaktaar-Savoy) and Magne Furuholmen moved to London to pursue their dream of becoming rock stars. When it didn’t work out, they persuaded Morten Harket to join them. When it still didn’t work out, they persevered, constantly changing their look and their management and their videos until suddenly, Take On Me was a worldwide hit. The three teenagers realised how far out of their depth they were only when they were number one in the US and there was no looking.

Exclusive: Lightyear Entertainment has acquired two documentaries that made their world premieres at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival: Thomas Robsahm’s A-ha: The Movie and Eddie Martin’s We Were Once Kids. The former will open in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on April 8, with the latter set for release in May.
A-ha: The Movie celebrates the 40th anniversary of the synth-pop band’s irresistible single “Take on Me,” which is still one of the most played songs of the last millennium. The musicians from small-town Norway became global sensations and heartthrobs overnight when they released the song and its groundbreaking pencil-sketch animation video, seeing their newfound fame overshadow their original dream to make music. In the years since, each has taken separate roads to get back to what they loved most.

The four remaining contestants in Group A for season 6 of “The Masked Singer” compete in the semi-final on November 10. While Bull and Skunk have been with the show since its premiere, the other two contenders jumped into the competition as Wildcards. Pepper popped up in episode 4 while Jester joined in episode 6.
We’d figured out who was hiding in those first three costumes (scroll down for those names) and are willing to take a guess about the identity of this newest Wildcard. Keep reading for all “The Masked Singer” spoilers, including the answer to the question, “Who is Jester”?
In the sneak peek special, we saw the Jester with a bouquet that had an unlucky 13 red roses. A promo touting his first appearance promised that he would “flush” out the competition. Jester rollicked in his first appearance with a scorching cover of the Alice Cooper anthem “School’s Out.”

Swiss-based sales outfit First Hand Films has added major territories to Tribeca and Haugesund entry “A-ha: The Movie” doc, helmed by Thomas Robsahm together with Aslaug Holm (“Generation Utøya”).
Lighthouse Entertainment has snapped rights for the U.S., Modern Films for the U.K., A Contracorriente for Spain, Periscoop for Benelux, Pannania for Hungary and Side Project Production for Taiwan.
Earlier distribution deals were closed with Germany (Salzgeber), Japan (Klockworx), Korea (Company L), Poland (Mayfly), Norway (Euforia), Sweden (TriArt), Denmark (Øst for Paradis), with First Hand Films’ own distribution shingle in charge of the Swiss premiere.
The Norwegian doc is a candid and close look at the iconic Norwegian pop band A-ha, behind the 1985 hit “Take on Me.” The pic follows founding members Pål Waaktaar-Savoy, Magne Furuholmen and Morten Harket through their creative clashes, ambitions and stormy relationships.

Consider it a celebration with something of an asterisk: in-person film festivals are back! But so are virtual components, making some of the year’s biggest cinematic events both safe and accessible for an even wider audience to enjoy them. After a cancelled 2020 edition and a delayed 2021 event, the Tribeca Festival is bellying up for a hybrid event with a major in-person edge, with lots to watch, no matter in which manner you choose to consume it.
In March, the festival announced that it would “transform prominent locations into an expansive 12-day multi-screen outdoor celebration” held this month, and is believed to be first major North American film festival to mount such an in-person event.
Director Jon M. Chu’s long-awaited “In the Heights,” adapted from Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, will open the 20th anniversary edition of Tribeca on June 9. The festival will also celebrate the world...

Sometimes, it takes a couple tries before a song or a group catches fire. That was underlined once again this week with news that A-ha’s Take On Me rotoscopic video has now surpassed one billion views on YouTube.
Although it’s not the only video to surpass that enormous total, it has one of the more unique stories behind its ascent to the top of the charts.
Elsewhere in music, there was tragedy this week in Hollywood as an up and coming rapper was shot dead, and one of rock’s greatest bands finally reunited with a key member.
This week in music:
Second Time’S The Charm: A-ha’s classic song Take On Me had a tepid original version of the song, and its video failed to ignite much passion. But Warner Bros. executive Jeff Ayeroff realized that the band’s lead singer Morten Harket was one of...

This year has been awash with nostalgia for the final year of the Sixties and the end of the 20th Century (a.k.a. 1999), but Stranger Things is bringing the Eighties back in a, like, totally major way. The upcoming third season of the hit Netflix series (set to premiere July 4th on the streaming service) finds the Hawkins, Indiana crew navigating adolescence, as well as a paranormal phenomenon or two, over their school vacation in 1985. Aside from the near constant supernatural threats, we have to admit we envy them.

Aside from Donald Trump randomly insulting LeBron James’ intelligence late Friday night while “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” was airing, it was a relatively quiet day for politics in Trump’s America.
And so Colbert was light on the political discussion Friday night — Trump’s name was actually not even mentioned until midway through Colbert’s interview with Rob Reiner, and a video of Colbert working out with Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg neatly sidesteps any political talk.
Even so, “The Late Show” did kick off with one of its standard political sketches. In this case, it was a parody of A-ha’s video for “Take on Me,” featuring none other than Donald Trump’s old campaign manager Paul Manafort.
For those unfamiliar with the original 1985 video, it involves a young woman being kinda seduced by a man, played by A-ha lead singer Morten Harket, in a black-and-white comic book.

Let’s face it. The songs are the best parts of the James Bond movies. Throughout 007’s five decades, the title tracks are each film’s one hope of rising above dubious casting choices, retreads of old villains, and grandiose plots for world domination that will inevitably be foiled. And like all that other stuff, we like the songs because they’re another expected element in a series that’s filled with them, a pop cultural barometer for measuring the secret agent’s standing in the zeitgeist.
Bond songs can be aged bygones of their time with poetically vague lyrics that don’t add up to much, but the best ones rise above their period trappings to comment and reflect on their respective films. With Spectre set to hit American theaters this week, let’s look back at each and every title song in Metro Golden Mayer’s canon:

Byker! Byker! Byker! Byker Grove! A-ha, A-ha, A-ha!
Geordie youth club drama Byker Grove was one of the greatest children's TV shows of the '80s and '90s, and next month it will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special party in Newcastle.
But what ever happened to the stars of the show? We look back at some of the programme's breakout stars and forgotten favourites.
1. Declan Donnelly played Duncan
In the show's first series, Dec was going solo as 'Duncan' and it wasn't until he was united with Ant's 'Pj' that he truly became a central figure in the series. While they are remembered as being best buddies on the show, Duncan did end up nabbing Pj's girlfriend Debbie. After Pj went blind in a paintball accident. Harry Hill and Sinitta have teamed up to record a spoof of 'Take On Me' for charity.
The pair have shot a special music video reminiscent of the original 1985 A-ha hit for Children in Need's appeal show on November 15.
Former TV Burp presenter Hill replaces frontman Morten Harket in the video, while Sinitta plays the love interest.
Hairy Bikers Si King and Dave Myers will also make an appearance on motorcycles and start a fight with Hill over a giant sausage.

Vampirology, diving lessons, advanced Rubik's cube training – director John Tiffany recalls in his production diary how he got his cast to sink their teeth into his stage adaptation of 2008 horror classic Let the Right One In
Let the Right One In is one of my favourite films of recent years. It's full of images that have burned their way into my mind: bodies frozen in coffins of ice; blood spilling on to snow; a patient in a hospital bed bursting into flames. I first saw it at a friend's house one lazy Sunday in the summer of 2009. Not for a moment did I think it could be the source for a play.
But when I was approached two years ago by a producer who had acquired the rights, the idea felt exciting. It's a tender, brutal love story following the relationship between Oskar, a lonely bullied teenage boy, and Eli,...

What happens in Vegas....? Billboard hosted it's annual Billboard Music Awards (TV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday night. Despite his best efforts, host Tracy Morgan appeared to get off to a rocky start and never quite seemed to recover. During the course of his brief (and only marginally funny) monolog, the comedian managed to mispronounce three artists' names and flubbed his date with the teleprompter. Aside from a quasi-entertaining dance off with pop star Psy, his hosting chops left a bit to be desired. No question Morgan is a good comic, but his skills seemed ill-suited for this particular gig. Bruno Mars kicked off the show with his newest single, a Motown-style tune called "Treasure." It was a crowd-pleasing "crimson" moment that set the stage for a host of performances by Billboard's most prevalent chart toppers of the year. Country fave Shania Twain presented the first award...

Another day, another domination for Taylor Swift: She was the red hot winner at the Billboard Music Awards.
Swift won eight of 11 awards, including top artist and top Billboard 200 album for "Red." She told the crowd: "You are the longest and best relationship I ever had."
She also had a colorful performance of her hit "22" – starting backstage and working her way to the main stage on the back of a bike with help from a dozen background dancers and a flurry of red balloons.
Justin Bieber also performed – twice – and was also a multiple winner with three awards, including top male artist, social artist and the fan-voted milestone award, beating out Swift and Bruno Mars. When accepting the latter – where boos were heard – he alluded to the tumultuous weeks he's had in the public eye.

Going into the Billboard Music Awards, we know three things for sure, right? 1. Taylor Swift is going to be adorkable. (And you are going to hate that. You always do.) 2. At least half a dozen times, I’m going to have to ask Google to identify an act that, because I’m a nerd who’s well past puberty, I’ve never heard of. (How am I supposed to tell Macklemore from Ryan Lewis when I still struggle with telling Hall from Oates?) And 3. the whole massive recording industry back-slap will be followed by a TVLine Top 10 countdown of the ceremony’s best and worst.

We recently reported that ‘X Factor’ winner Joe McElderry, A-Ha star Morten Harket and Erasure singer Andy Bell will also be singing for survival on the ITV show, which was won by former Pop Idol star Darius Campbell last year.
Also joining the lineup are former Steps star Claire Richards, Toploader’s Joe Washbourn and Us soul singer Jocelyn Brown.
Joe is said to be elated to be taking part in the show, as he was recently dropped by Simon Cowell’s Syco record label and is relishing the thought of another project to get his teeth into.
A source said: “Joe loves to sing – he’s not bothered about what people will say. He will prosper from doing a show like this.

Joe McElderry has reportedly agreed to appear on the next series of Popstar to Operastar.
The former X Factor winner was recently dropped from Simon Cowell’s record label Syco and instead of performing at sell out tours and arenas all over the country, insiders say he will follow in the footsteps of Kym Marsh and compete in the ITV1 reality show when it returns this summer.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “Joe loves to sing – he’s not bothered about what people will say. He will prosper from doing a show like this.
“He’s incredibly talented and thinks appearing on the show could open up a whole new chapter. He’s always loved the West End and thrill of performing live – it’s when he’s at his best.”
The source added: “Considering the deal with Syco has just fizzled out, Joe’s in a great place right now.

Whether you recognize it or not, we're currently in a bit of a music video renaissance. Once again, clips from major artists are hotly anticipated, and more often than not they are evaluated on their artistic merits and their ability to push the envelope of an admittedly limited medium (look no further than the work of Lady Gaga or Rihanna for proof). The genre of music videos has peaked a number of times in the three decades that MTV has been on the air (most notably at the heights of the grunge and boy band eras), but the first one came in 1985 when videos like A-Ha's "Take On Me" found their way into heavy rotation and blew minds in the process. The success of the video pushed "Take On Me" to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 on this day in 1985.
Even 25 years later, "Take On Me" still seems pretty mind-bending.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, '80s fans, but a-ha, the Norwegian band that gave us arguably the greatest music video of all time, is calling it quits after three decades and 35 million albums sold. The band had one real hit: 1985's "Take On Me," which featured the inscrutable chorus of "Take on me/take me on" and whose sketchy animated-live action video won six Moon Men at the MTV Video Music Awards. The feather-haired threesome—Morten Harket, Magne Furuholmen and Paul Waaktaar-Savoy—never again sniffed that kind of popularity in the states. The trio's only subsequent song of note was the theme to the James Bond film The Living Daylights. But outside the U.S.,...

Reuniting in 1998 after 4 years in hiatus, a-ha confirm that they will split after finishing one last world tour in 2010. "As a consequence, a-ha will not be releasing any further albums in the future," it was announced on the band's official website.
"We've literally lived the ultimate boy's adventure tale, through a longer, more rewarding career than anyone could hope for," they said in a statement. "Doing this now will give us a chance to get more involved in other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else - and of course through new constellations in the field of art and music."
The band also thank fans for their support. They stated further, "We are retiring as a band, not as individuals. Change is always difficult and It is easy to get set in one's ways. Now it is time to move on."
