Although Michael represented former prosecuting attorney and author Vincent Bugliosi, he refused to represent the 1960s cult leader Charles Manson. However, Michael did represent swindler-turned-informant Mel Weinberg whose story was documented in the David O. Russell film "American Hustle" (2013) and Mel Weinberg served as technical consultant.
Michael Hamilburg served as an associate producer on the film The Yakuza (1974). He helped organize other film projects such as Von Ryan's Express (1965) , Shaft (1971) (1971), and Billionaire Boys Club (2018).

The movie was nominated for two Golden Globes and one Emmy Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement in Sound Editing for a Miniseries or a Special.
Michael's friend of over 40 years was Jim Preminger, the nephew of Otto Preminger and son of talent agent Ingo Preminger. Jim was working on a project with Michael up to the week before he died.
