Austrian-born Max Grießer was a famous Bavarian folk-play actor and has
played many roles on "Komödienstadel", a famous Bavarian folk-play that
usually is performed in the "Kleine Komödie" in Munich, Germany. For
some years he personified "Father Barnabas" during the famous Salvator
celebrations on Nockherberg in Munich where Bavarian and German
politicians are mocked each March when the new brand of the strong beer
"Salvator" is issued.

Despite being a successful and popular actor, he was hospitalized due
to depressions. During an eve-of-the-wedding party at his nephew's
house in Epstein/Taunus, he went to the cellar and strangled himself to
death (11 August 2000).
His son Florian was born in 1976.
Was also a Volksmusik (alpine folk music) singer and released 30
singles.
Being the son of an popular Austrian singer, he made his stage debut at
the age of five.
