The Fall Guy is a movie that celebrates and spotlights the importance of stunt performers, dressed up in an entertaining action thriller that has a real commitment to giving audiences a good time. Helped along, of course, by Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. But they aren’t the only ones making this film what it is, as we had the pleasure in speaking to the supporting star Winston Duke, as well as director & producer team (and husband and wife); David Leitch and Kelly McCormick.
We speak about the roles of stunt performers, and whether they believe there could be a chance of a stunt Oscar in the foreseeable future. We speak about Spielberg seeing (and liking) the movie, while with Duke, who we could’ve spoken to for hours, we get deep into the differences between Schwarzenegger, and Stallone. Enjoy both interviews in their entirety below.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are ready to leap into action later this week when The Fall Guy races into theaters. As the blistery winter winds blow away and the summer heat increases in certain parts of the world, the duo’s new action-packed homage to stunt performers arrives to take the box office (and your wallet) by storm! Analysts expect The Fall Guy to reach $30M+ in its opening gambit, with some studio execs saying the film could reach $35-40 million.
While a box office opening in the 30s would be solid for an original action film, The Fall Guy cost a reported $130 million to produce. If you like the film, be sure to sing its praises from the rafters. Word of mouth goes a long way with films like this, regardless of the fact that two of Hollywood’s heaviest hitters lead the charge. Meanwhile, The Fall Guy...

Zendaya’s brand new romantic sports drama Challengers has been at everyone’s hearing pretty much before the movie finally hit the cinemas last week. The film also starring The Crown’s star Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist eventually made all the hype in social media work for itself and didn’t take much time to dethrone Alex Garland’s post-apocalyptic hit Civil War from the box office top.
Though all the stars seem to still align for Challengers’ blast as the movie started its theatrical run only several days ago, some earlier predictions for its success show that it actually could’ve done better.
According to earlier reports that were released ahead of Challengers’ world premiere in theaters, the movie was projected to gross at least $20 million in the domestic run while the international numbers were supposed to ultimately cement Luca Guadagnino’s drama’s hit status.

Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, two essential ingredients in the “Barbenheimer” phenomenon, will leave Barbieland and Los Alamos behind them as they team up for “The Fall Guy.” But will audiences turn up in force to see the “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” stars when their new action comedy debuts this weekend?
Well, “The Fall Guy” isn’t going to hit those films’ box office heights, but it should have no trouble topping charts as it kicks off the summer movie season. The film is expected to earn north of $30 million, with some rival studio executives pegging the opening at between $35 million to $40 million. The catch is that movie wasn’t cheap to produce, boasting a healthy budget of $130 million, so “The Fall Guy” will need strong word-of-mouth if it’s going to leg it out on the long path to profitability. It will also need to do well overseas. “The Fall Guy...

Kim Kardashian is the style Moghul of Hollywood; she has been making and breaking trends since the internet started. The reality show star turned billionaire owns and creates many luxurious businesses. Kardashian is famous for always being in the headlines for something. While Kim Kardashian has her sense of bizarre and exquisite fashion, it looks like she was seen copying the style of Ye’s current wife, Bianca Censori. In what is a fashion tit-for-tat, Kim Kardashian was wearing a barely there risque Balenciaga piece that Bianca Censori had already worn.

Ostensibly a big-screen reboot of the 1980s television series of the same name, “The Fall Guy” is actually director and former stunt performer David Leitch’s love letter to both his wife, producer Kelly McCormick, and the undersung art of stunt work — only not always in that order.
Working closely with screenwriter and executive producer Drew Pearce, who previously scripted his “Fast and the Furious” spinoff “Hobbs & Shaw,” Leitch creates a clearinghouse of gobsmacking stunts (some truly record-breaking) while chronicling the tumultuous relationship between veteran stunt man Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) and first-time director Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt). It’s quick-witted (and quick-footed) fun that bridges multiple generations of Hollywood moviemaking, melding together rom-coms and bombastic action into one blockbuster package.
Since making his screenwriting debut on Shane Black’s “Iron Man 3,” Pearce has developed an aptitude for conceiving stories that maintain a singular yet cohesive tonal balance.

The domestic box office at $2 billion currently this year is dragging 21% behind the same January-April spread last year, and when Universal’s Fall Guy commences the hot moviegoing season this Friday with a hopeful $35M, expect summer to drag some more.
That’s because the lack of product due to the actors’ strike has made a backloaded May through Labor Day frame in what will be lucky —lucky— to hit $3 billion. That’s a $1 billion less than last summer’s $4.09 billion per Comscore and -27% off. More bad news about summer: It’s not going to catch up the year any more against 2023.
Essentially, expect less and hope for more. Remember, no one saw Barbenheimer and Sound of Freedom coming last summer and that trio collectively minted $1.15 billion. If anything, summer 2024 is more about getting moviegoers back into the habit of moviegoing than breaking any records.

The Fall Guy Producer On Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt’s On-Screen Relationship ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling created box office history with their respective movies last year. Oppenheimer and Barbie not only clashed at the theatres, but both were successful. The Barbenheimer clash [Barbie & Oppenheimer] was one of the most talked about topics on social media last year, and now the actors have paired up for the movie The Fall Guy about stunt performers. Producer Kelly McCormick has recently given an insight into Ryan and Emily’s incredible chemistry on the film’s set.
Emily and Ryan are two of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, and they rekindled their Barbenheimer banter on the 96th Academy Awards stage last month. Although Blunt did not take home the golden statuette, her team ruled the night with seven wins, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Ryan’s Barbie won the box office war last year.

Ryan Gosling has been a versatile actor who has dabbled in various genres. While he had his breakthrough with the romance The Notebook, the actor had branched out to drama, comedy, and sci-fi, and he was even nominated for an Oscar for his role as Ken in Barbie. One of the actor’s most recognized roles is that of Luke in The Place Beyond The Pines.
Gosling has a distinctive look in the film as he plays a bank robber in the generation-spanning drama. The actor reportedly fulfilled his dream of performing a bank heist with the film. However, the actor mentioned that shooting a heist was not as exciting as it was shown in the movies and he even took over twenty takes to make himself menacing.

Every successful man has a strong woman behind him, and Eva Mendes is the perfect example of that. After a string of hit movies, such as Derek Cianfrance’s smash hit The Place Beyond the Pines, which sparked a protracted romance between her and Ryan Gosling, Mendes became a prominent actor in her own right.
The 2012 flick may have contributed to their off-screen romance, but the Barbie star genuinely detested his character. That being said, despite his reputation for giving melancholic and enticing performances on screen, Gosling found it difficult to fall in love with one particular role: that of the character in The Place Beyond the Pines. In fact, he hated the character so much that he felt “ashamed” to even look at himself in the mirror.

Ryan Gosling‘s dream didn’t only include becoming a rich and famous actor. He once opened up about a fantasy he had about robbing banks. This 2013 feature gave him the opportunity to make this dream a reality.

There's a certain type of actor that likes to brag about performing their own stunts. Obviously, this kind of bravado is a given — and a source of tremendous excitement — when we're talking about martial arts stars like Jackie Chan, Anita Mui, and Scott Adkins. They can make physical combat look elegant and playful, or, in the case of guys like Adkins, just flat-out brutal. But we also hear likewise about folks like Harrison Ford, Angelina Jolie and, of course, Tom Cruise — folks who like to mix it up as much as they can.
As someone who can no longer ride a rollercoaster without fainting, I envy these people for their fearlessness. What a gift — or a touch of madness — it must be willing to jump off a speeding van onto a moving car (as Michelle Yeoh did in "Police Story 3: Super Cop").

With the release of Zendaya's "Challengers" behind us, it's just about time to focus on the arrival of the 2024 summer movie season. That begins, in earnest, with the release of Universal's "The Fall Guy" this Friday. After a couple of particularly bad weekends at the box office that the industry can frankly ill afford, all eyes are now on summer to help turn the tide. Like it or not, the summer now has an undue amount of pressure on it as theaters look for films capable of filling seats so they can sell enough popcorn to keep the lights on. Unfortunately, the slate we have before us doesn't seem, on paper, like it can compete with what we had last year. As a result, we're doomed to be disappointed by what unfolds in the coming months.

On Saturday, WeAreMovieGeeks.com got a sneak peek at the Fall Guy Stuntacular at Universal Studios Hollywood. Based on the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic TV series, The Fall Guy Stuntacular is a limited running show at the popular movie theme park. Presented just before the Water World stunt show at Universal, this new show features many of the big stunts from the movie. And as if that wasn’t enough, Ryan Gosling, star of the new film was on hand to treat the invited audience to the first look at the stunts and the stunt men and women who make it all possible. Gosling called the film, “a love letter to the stunt community” that has been overshadowed for years. Laughs were also abound, as Gosling doubled down on his likeability and comic chops, joking with the crowd and director of the film David Leitch who was also in attendance.

Plot: After being gravely injured, a stuntman named Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling) tries to win back his ex, a movie director named Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), by finding the star of her mega-budget action movie, who’s gone missing after falling in with a dangerous crowd.

Universal Studios Hollywood premiered “The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show” at the “WaterWorld” set on Saturday. The live stunt performance, featuring Ryan Gosling and “The Fall Guy” director David Leitch, came six days before “The Fall Guy” hits theaters May 3.
The “Stuntacular Pre-Show” premiere was staged as the stunt performers’ final dress rehearsal and dedicated to the hard work of stunt people across the industry. It starred Gosling, Leitch and the pre-show’s disgruntled director, who was desperate to prove his show was just as “Stuntacular” as “The Fall Guy” movie.
“This is a live show based on a movie, based on a TV show, based on a real stuntman! We are not going to have average stunts,” the director screamed at Gosling before calling “action.” The pre-show saw performers doing backflips on jet skis, riding dirt bikes through the audience and diving off towering platforms into water.

L to R: Ryan Gosling is Colt Seavers and Emily Blunt is Judy Moreno in The Fall Guy, directed by David Leitch © Universal Studios. All Rights Reserved. The Fall Guy is generating some serious hype! Think about it: a huge cast, a director who knows how to deliver explosive action, and those early reviews are fantastic. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt – both Oscar nominees – are headlining this one. And with David Leitch behind the camera…well, let’s just say the guy who made Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train knows how to keep an audience on the edge of their seats. This movie has all the ingredients for a hit. But even a great director needs a stellar cast, and Leitch certainly has that in Gosling and Blunt. He raves about their talent and on-screen chemistry. Traditionally, movie theater walkouts are usually associated with the horror genre, with infamous cases ranging from 1973’s The Exorcist (particularly during the crucifix masturbation scene) and even Lars Von Trier’s controversial serial killer memoir, The House That Jack Built.
That being said, there are exceptions to this rule, as some movies manage to terrorize audiences into leaving the theater regardless of genre. One memorable example of this is Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2013 revenge thriller Only God Forgives, a film so brutal and inaccessible that quite a few critics ended up treating it like a snuff film from hell back when it was first released. However, I’ve come to learn that horror fans have a knack for seeing beyond the blood and guts when judging the value of a story, and that’s why I’d like to make a case for Winding’s near-impenetrable experiment as an excellent horror-adjacent experience.

Doctor Who’s Ncuti Gatwa and W1A’s Hugh Skinner will star in a National Theatre revival of Oscar Wilde’s play about courtships, betrothals, and confused identities. The Importance of Being Earnest also stars three-time Olivier Award winner Sharon D. Clarke playing the imperious Lady Bracknell.
Director Max Webster, making his Nt debut, told Deadline exclusively that casting Gatwa and Skinner as the idle bachelors Algernon Moncrieff and Jack Worthing -both leading double lives – who pursue two young women, both determined to marry someone called Ernest, and with Clarke as the dreadnaught dowager decreeing her own rules of class, taste, and propriety, was “a dream come true.”

It’s been a long time coming, but a remake of the 1994 film The Crow (which was based on the comic book series created by James O’Barr) will finally be making its way out into the world on August 23rd, which is when Lionsgate will be giving the film a theatrical release. With that release date swiftly approaching, we figured we should gather together all the information we have on this movie… and here it is, Everything We Know About The Crow Remake:
Development Hell
When the original The Crow was released, it was successful enough to spawn a franchise, with three sequels following over the next eleven years. We got The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005, with several other potential sequels (including one that would have been written and directed by Rob Zombie) being developed and scrapped along the way.

Swift seems to also be moving ahead in the relationship department as her beau Travis Kelce reportedly called her his ‘significant other’ at an event. The couple, who have been together since September 2023, reportedly attended the Mahomes Foundation’s Gala auction. Swift reportedly auctioned four tickets for her Eras Tour.

April came to a close with a number of smaller releases, ahead of the start of the summer movie season launching in May, though one movie definitely stood out ahead of the others. Read on for the weekend box office report.
Luca Guadagnino‘s tennis romance, “Challengers,” starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, opened in 3,477 theaters on Friday with solid reviews, racking up $1.9 million in previews from Thursday and earlier. After pulling in $6.2 million on Friday (including previews), “Challengers” won the weekend with ease, making an estimated $15 million, and receiving a fair “B+” CinemaScore from audiences polled, as the movie became the talk of social media all weekend. “Challengers” also added another $9 million overseas in 52 markets to bring its global total to $25 million.

Refresh for latest…: Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s Kung Fu Panda 4 has topped the half-century mark globally, now with $503.5M worldwide. Of that, $318.5M is from the international box office. Passing $500M makes KFP4, directed by Mike Mitchell (and co-directed by Stephanie Ma Stine), only the fourth animated title to the benchmark since 2020, joining Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($1.4B) and Minions: The Rise of Gru ($943M), and Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ($691M).
Overseas, the return of Po & co is now the highest grossing film in the franchise in 37 markets including Mexico ($35.2M) and Brazil ($8.1M). The series of films recently topped the $2B mark globally to become the 7th highest grossing animated franchise of all time. Dwa has the most animated franchises to the $2B milestone worldwide with Shrek ($3.972B), Madagascar ($2.257B), and now Kfp ($2.3B).

Ryan Gosling is an actor who has portrayed several different types of characters throughout his movies. From the humorous Ken in Barbie to a lover of cars and Irene in Drive, Gosling has done it all in his iconic Hollywood career.

Game, set, now what to make of this match?
“Challengers,” a sexy, subversive, R-rated drama set in the world of tennis, easily took first place at a sluggish domestic box office this weekend with $15 million from 3,477 locations. On one hand, it’s a respectable result for an artsy movie aimed at discerning, adult audiences, but what keeps it from being a championship performance is that “Challengers” has a hefty $55 million budget (to say nothing of its marketing costs). The Amazon MGM Studios release will need strong word-of-mouth if it’s going to keep rallying — and next week brings Universal’s “The Fall Guy,” a Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt action-comedy that marks the start of summer blockbuster season. The competition only stands to get fiercer from here.

Netflix is pivoting to lower-budget filmmaking projects, moving away from the high-octane big-budget action flicks, the New York Times reports. That would be a piece of great news for filmmakers as it opens up more opportunities to screen your next project on the Netflix platform.
Netflix and independent filmmaker Enough with the mega-budget projects
The story begins with Mark Wahlberg. According to Bi in 2020, Netflix paid Wahlberg a whopping $30 million to star in “Spenser Confidential,” which clocks in at 24 on the highest-paid film roles of all time. Critics panned the action thriller, an adaptation of Robert P. Barker’s 2013 novel “Wonderland.” It scored a dismal 36% on Rotten Tomatoes despite the hefty investment. That caused some turbulence in the screening giant, in which Netflix’s previous film chief, Scott Stuber, left the company in January following clashes with bosses over what kinds of films to produce. Nicolas Cage is all about his family. The actor puts his kids above everything else, even turning down massive roles in movies like The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix because they would have meant being away from home for too long. For Cage, that wasn’t worth it. He chose to stay close to his kids, preferring bedtime stories over Hollywood blockbusters.

Why The Nice Guys Stopped at One Ryan Gosling believes that the chances for a sequel to The Nice Guys are slim, primarily because The Angry Birds Movie dramatically overshadowed the original comedy during its crucial opening weekend. In a recent chat with Comicbook.com while promoting his latest action-packed movie The Fall Guy, Gosling touched on the unlikelihood of reuniting with Russell Crowe for another round of their much-loved comedic investigation adventures. In his interview, Gosling mentioned, So much of a sequel, I think, is decided by the opening weekend of a movie, and we opened up against Angry Birds,

Ryan Gosling surprised theme park guests at Universal Studios Hollywood when he made an appearance during a Waterworld pre-show inspired by his latest movie, The Fall Guy.
A video shared on social media went viral, which shows Gosling taking part in The Fall Guy Stuntacular Pre-Show ahead of Waterworld.
Director David Leitch also appeared on stage as the show went on to showcase the stunts on jet skis. They start integrating Gosling into the action, the actor says, “No, I just came out to say hi.”
“I think he’s making it sound less original than it is,” Gosling joked. “The film’s a comedy, it’s a drama, it’s a love letter to the stunt community. It’s been getting really great reviews, so check it out, if you feel like it.”

Sad tear-jerker movies are something we all need in the moments of sorrow and pain to release all our negative emotions crying alongside the characters. They get even more tearful when complicated or even impossible romantic relationships are featured, like in Ryan Gosling’s The Notebook (2004) and Anne Hathaway’s One Day (2011).
These films obviously inspired last year’s drama that takes romantic struggle to a whole other level. It focuses on the relationship of the two childhood friends, Nora and Hae Sung, who get separated by Nora’s emigration from South Korea.
A decade later, they try to reconcile via Skype calls, however, this attempt fails due to the personalities’ differences that developed during that time. Another decade later, they contact one more time, and this time Hae Sung intends to visit Nora in New York.
You can already guess how many essential issues this movie raises: the themes of emigration,...

Ah, "The Notebook." Everyone knows about this now-classic romance film, helmed by Nick Cassavetes and starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams. It's the story of a boy and a girl from different sides of the tracks who fall in love with each other in the 1940s. Gosling's character, a poor hellraiser named Noah, woos McAdams' wealthy Allie first by dangling off a Ferris Wheel and then inviting her to lie down in the middle of an intersection. Sounds romantic. We've all been there, right?
Meanwhile, while this story is playing out in the past, we also cut back and forth to the present, where an old man named Duke (James Garner) is telling the love story of Noah and Allie to an old woman (Gena Rowlands) in a nursing home. It used to be said that every movie, no matter how badly it did at the box office or critically, went to heaven. Heaven, of course, meant physical media. First, it was VHS, then it was Laserdisc, then DVD, Blu-ray, and now 4K Blu-rays; every movie would get some kind of physical media release. After all, rentals and sales were important to a film’s profitability. In fact, some movies that tanked theatrically did so well on DVD that they became perennials, such as Donnie Darko or The Transporter, with the DVD sales of that movie directly influencing the studio to greenlight a sequel and give Jason Statham a legit career as an action star. Yet, despite physical media making a comeback, it’s worth noting that some of the most popular movies in recent memory have never gotten a physical media release. And we’re not only talking about...

Few people in Hollywood have track records so diverse and unique as Ryan Gosling. It’s hard to think of a genre the actor hasn’t tackled yet, and whatever he does, he does it brilliantly. In 2016, Gosling joined forces with Russell Crowe to create the most iconic mismatched duo of private investigators, and the movie they made both revived the greatest cop bromances of all time and brought a fresh take to the table.

And yet, 2016’s The Nice Guys managed to surprise the audience and critics by adding their own spin to the classic.

In 2022, Netflix released The Grey Man, an action thriller film starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush (in his Hollywood debut), Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton. The movie received mixed reviews, with critics praising the cast and action but criticizing the “clichéd script.” The movie was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, with Joe Russo contributing to the script alongside Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
But, despite the mixed reviews, Netflix was seemingly satisfied with the movie as a sequel was ordered, and based on what the Russo Brothers recently said, The Grey Man sequel seems to be their top priority at this moment, although they do have a lot of upcoming projects.

With Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame being such box office successes, many fans assumed that the Russo Brothers (Anthony and Joe Russo) would return to direct Avengers: Secret Wars. But in the years that followed, a lot changed.
During that period, the Russo Brothers helmed a few flicks through their Agbo company. Among them are the crime drama Cherry, starring Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo, and the action thriller The Gray Man, featuring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans.

After creating the heartbreaking yet truly magnificent exit of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Avengers: Endgame, the Russo Brothers — Joe Russo and Anthony Russo — are all set to bring new action to the screens. And this time, this peak entertainment would not be through Rdj or the MCU, but rather, ostensibly through Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling.

As it turns out, the dynamic duo recently hinted at wanting to work with Evans and Gosling once again. The project they would be collaborating on is the sequel to the masterpiece from 2022, The Gray Man. But that’s not all because Evans isn’t the only Chris the mastermind filmmakers are looking forward to working with: They also want Chris Hemsworth to reprise his iconic role!

She wore a vegetable-print ensemble that instantly attracted attention. I was charmed by her whimsical outfit, which her stylist Jessica Paster selected from Loewe’s Fall 2024 collection.
Inspired by the works of reclusive artist Albert York, the collection features bright themes that include picturesque rural landscapes, feminine florals, and vegetables. I love how these creative, innovative designs are infused in the collection’s avant-garde silhouettes.

Ryan Gosling joined Kelly McCormick, David Leitch and Emily Blunt at The Fall Guy premiere in Paris.
The film follows stuntman Colt (Gosling) after he abandons his career and girlfriend (Blunt) after a stunt goes terribly wrong.
Gosling sported the suit-with-no-tie look, Leitch showed off his tee with a suit, McCormick stunned in a blue floral dress, and Blunt sparkled in a silver gown with a gray suit.
The actor was nominated for best supporting actor for his role as Ken in the Barbie movie and performed “I’m Just Ken” at the Academy Awards wearing all pink.
At the 2024 Academy Awards ceremony, Gosling called out the Academy for failing to nominate Margot Robbie for her Barbie role and Greta Gerwig for directing the movie of the summer.
“But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making,...

The Russo Brothers are one of Hollywood’s busiest duos in an industry that moves at the speed of light. With an alarming amount of projects heaped onto their respective plates, two stand out among the crowd for action fans: Extraction 3 and The Gray Man 2.
Speaking with GamesRadar+ at the Sands: International Film Festival in St. Andrews, Scotland, the Russos said The Gray Man 2 is actively developing. The 2022 original starred Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as a skilled CIA operative (Gosling) and a psychotic former colleague (Evans) who triggered a global manhunt led by international assassins. Despite getting the shaft from critics, casual audiences loved watching two of Hollywood’s biggest stars square off against one another while explosions light their destructive path.
“We’re developing concepts we think are the right direction to take the character in and so, we are working on that at the moment,” Joe Russo told GamesRadar+. “I mean,...

Following the massive success of “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame,” there was a time when the Russo Brothers were the biggest filmmakers on the planet, and most fans presumed, don’t worry, they’ll be back to direct “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
But much has changed in the ensuing years. The Russos, via their Agbo company, have delivered two films in that time that they themselves have directed, the drama “Cherry” with Tom Holland for Apple and the would-be Netflix franchise “The Gray Man” with Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, an expensive affair that never took off with critics.

“I love music,” declares Rickey Minor, and it’s clear that the music director for the past two Academy Awards telecasts means it. The enthusiasm and joy he projects is infectious. He proclaims that he would “play at the opening of an envelope” and that when it comes to work, “I don’t turn down nothin’ but my collar.” He recalls once telling Quincy Jones that he loves working in music so much he would do it for free and Jones telling him, “Don’t say that.” But while he listened to Jones and insists on getting paid for his work these days, plenty of it comes his way. He’s the go-to music director for live awards shows including the Oscars, the Emmys, the Grammys and The Kennedy Center Honors. Why? Minor believes it’s his meticulous preparation. “Notes, notes, notes,” he says. “I’ve always got my legal pad ready to go.
