As The Girls on the Bus approaches the halfway mark of the season, it's no longer controversial to say that the Max series is wholly divorced from reality. Critics are in agreement that the drama, based on Amy Chozick's 2018 memoir Chasing Hillary, fails to accurately depict journalism and life on the campaign trail; co-creators Chozick and Julie Plec even embrace escapism as protagonist Sadie McCarthy (Melissa Benoist), a reporter for New York's biggest paper, compares presidential candidates to contestants on The Bachelor and daydreams about Scott Foley's small-town mayor stripping to Ginuwine's "Pony." But Episode 4, "Two Americas," offers the show's most egregious moment of fantasy yet as socialist, Gen Z influencer Lola (Natasha Behnam) and Fox News stand-in Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore) go to battle, only to lay down their arms in the name of friendship.

Amid a very busy week of Oscar events, Sean Penn’s relief organization Core took a moment to shift the focus from toasting this year’s top films to raising money for ongoing crises around the world.
At Core’s Pre-Oscars Benefit on Tuesday — sponsored by The Hollywood Reporter and Dodge — $1.4 million was raised to finance the group’s humanitarian work, with support from a star-studded group of attendees. Penn, Core CEO Ann Lee and CAA’s Bryan Lourd (who is both Penn’s agent and a Core board member) co-hosted the event, held at a private residence in Laurel Canyon, while Bill Burr served as the night’s emcee.
“This is such a wonderful organization — I’ve done so many benefits in my stand-up career where the charity was B.S., like 10 percent of 10 percent went to something,” Burr told guests at the beginning of the night. “This is actually...

Photo: ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’
The opening voiceover that kicks off ‘Magic Mike’s Last Dance’ ponders the inherent social function and the ineffable form of radical self-expression and communal communication that is singularly cultivated by the artform of dance. The omnipotent narrator’s high-minded investigation of the ancient query “What is dance and why is it so powerful?” persists in these voiceover passages throughout the movie, alongside a steadily delivered stream of dry-witted plot management. While this anthropological analysis of the nature of dance may not be the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of the ‘Magic Mike’ franchise, every entry in this provocative trilogy has, above all else, endeavored to depict the human body (specifically the male form) as a living, breathing, work of art on screen. Despite the unavoidable predictability that comes with being the third movie in a trilogy, in its best moments,...

Justin Timberlake will return to “Saturday Night Live” in the wake of backlash following ex-girlfriend Britney Spears’ shocking memoir “The Woman in Me.”
In the memoir, Spears alleged Timberlake encouraged her to have an abortion, among other revelations about their relationship. Spears also recounted a cringe encounter between Timberlake and Ginuwine; the audiobook narration of the exchange went viral thanks to Oscar winner Michelle Williams’ accent impersonating Timberlake. (Smart money is on Timberlake appearing in a sketch about this in some form.)
The Emmy and Grammy-winning musician will appear in the January 27 episode of “Saturday Night Live” with Dakota Johnson hosting. Johnson will be promoting her upcoming superhero film “Madame Web.”
In 2023, Timberlake reunited with *Nsync band members for animated film “Trolls Band Together.” Timberlake also recently appeared in Benicio Del Toro’s “Reptile.”
The “Social Network” star will take the “SNL” stage for his fifth solo musical guest appearance.

The judges on The Masked Singer were caught off guard when John Oates was revealed as the Anteater on the singing competition reality show on Wednesday night (December 13th) — despite the obvious “Maneater” reference staring them right in the face.
Prior to the big reveal, Oates performed a rousing rendition of Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B Goode,” though his weighty costume prevented him from doing any dance moves besides flailing his arms around. Watch a full replay below.
None of the members of the judging panel — comprised of Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, and Robin Thicke — were able to guess who was under the costume. McCarthy Wahlberg in particular was beside herself after having previously interviewed Oates for SiriusXM.

One of the claims that Britney Spears made about Justin Timberlake in her best-selling memoir The Woman in Me has been called into question by musician Ginuwine.
The 42-year-old Princess of Pop unleashed her memoir earlier this fall, and it included a number of revelations about her relationship with the musician and Trolls star.
One of the stories that she told about her time with Justin involved him adapting a blaccent while interacting with Ginuwine. The moment went particularly viral thanks to narrator Michelle Williams‘ retelling of it in the memoir’s audiobook.
Is Britney‘s recollection of the moment correct? According to Ginuwine, not so much.

“I’ve always loved theatrical rock and roll,” says music legend Sebastian Bach while discussing his time as Tiki on “The Masked Singer.” The Skid Row frontman was eliminated on episode 9 following an “I Wanna Rock” night performance of “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” by Kiss. “Elton John, Kiss, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, I’ve always loved a big show. Big costumes, fire and smoke and bombs going off. ‘The Masked Singer’ is definitely a big production.” Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.
One of the most fun aspects of Bach’s time on the show was song selection. “Most TV that I’ve done is very scripted,” he explains. “I was on ‘Gilmore Girls’ for seven seasons. On that show it’s a story, so if they said, ‘We’re doing this song, Hollaback Girl,’ I don’t have any problem with that,...

Things got a little hot on “The Masked Singer” for R&b superstar Ginuwine Wednesday night. “I don’t want to be no diva,” he recalls about complaints his Husky costume was overheating. The “Pony” singer was eliminated on episode 9 following an “I Wanna Rock” night performance of “Always” by Jon Bon Jovi. “For what it was all worth, it was something that I overcame. You can’t maneuver in that suit and it’s really heavy. I’m used to moving, so when I couldn’t move as much as I wanted to it got a little difficult.” Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby senior Denton Davidson above.
Despite the heat, Ginuwine loved Husky and his experience on the Fox reality TV competition. “I thought they did their due diligence because that’s pretty much something that represents me,” he says of his costume. “I’m a go-getter.

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer, including the identities of the eliminated contestants.
It was a double elimination night for The Masked Singer, and two contestants got the axe during rock night.
Despite a rendition of “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” that got the audience and the judges going, Husky was first on the chopping block, sending Tiki and Sea Queen into the battle royale. After making it through several rounds of The Masked Singer, it’s hard to believe the artist behind this mask almost declined the chance to perform at all.
“My agent gave me a call and said that they wanted me on the show, and originally I said no,” Ginuwine told Deadline a few hours before his unmasking. Luckily, he had a change of heart.
“I’m pretty much a person [that likes] space to myself,” he said. “So I figured,...

Below, Ginuwine takes us inside his experience on the show. What made you say yes to doing The Masked Singer? Ginuwine: Just coming out of my comfort zone. Michelle Williams is a storyteller first and foremost. While she's already known for her acting skills, it didn't take long for the internet to fall in love with her latest performance: the audiobook narration of Britney Spears's new memoir, "The Woman in Me." The project makes Williams eligible for a Grammy in the best audiobook, narration, and storytelling recording category, meaning she could soon be halfway to Egot status. After listening to her work for themselves, fans are convinced there's no one more deserving.
Following the book's Oct. 24 release, excerpts of the audiobook began circulating on social media, with Williams's impression of an early-2000s-era Justin Timberlake in particular going viral on X (formerly Twitter). "One day J and I were in New York, going to parts of town I had never been to before. Walking our way was a guy with a huge, blinged-out medallion. He was flanked by two giant security guards,...

The 42-year-old musician and Nsync member has turned off his Instagram comments, following the release of ex Britney Spears‘ memoir, The Woman In Me.
The 41-year-old pop star shares many details about their romance and split, including the bombshell revelation that the two got pregnant, but ultimately, Justin successfully encouraged her to go through with an abortion.

A source tells Page Six exclusively that Justin made the decision because of the “hateful, disgusting things people were saying” on his page.
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young,” she wrote in the book.

Michelle Williams has, in an act of profound sympathy and of ecstatic transformation, given another astounding performance in a career full of them. And it’s in the unlikeliest of venues.
One might expect the audiobook for Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman in Me” to have been narrated by its author — herself no stranger to performing. But, in the book’s introduction, Spears goes on mic to explain that the book’s subject matter is too emotional for her to read aloud. And so, it falls to the five-time Oscar nominee to give voice to the contours of Spears’ life.
It’s a canny choice, and a surprising one. The first time in a while that many people had heard Britney Spears’ voice — not her world-beatingly unique singing voice, the one to which we’ve grown accustomed from endless radio replays, but her plain, everyday speaking voice — was startling and raw.

The revelations in Britney Spears’ new memoir keep coming. In the latest excerpt from The Woman in Me to go viral, the pop star looked back on her time hanging out with old flame Justin Timberlake and his band *Nsync, who Spears believed “tried too hard” to fit in with Black artists back in the early aughts.
*Nsync, of course, blew up as hip-hop was at the beginning of its decades-long reign at the top of the music industry, which is presumably why Spears writes that Timberlake and co. were eager to pal around with rappers. “*Nsync was what people back then called ‘so pimp,'” the singer writes in her memoir. “They were white boys, but they loved hip hop. To me, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group.”
Spears continues, “*Nync hung out with Black artists.

Origins is a recurring series giving artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Slothrust take us through their cover of Ginuwine’s “Pony.”
Slothrust have announced their latest EP, I Promise, set for release on October 20th. As the first taste of the project, the rock duo has unleashed a reinterpretation of Ginuwine’s sensual classic “Pony.”
Swapping bombastic R&b for sleek, bass-driven rock, Slothrust’s “Pony” honors the original by treating it with reverence and respect, rather than poking fun. The result is a hard-rocking rendition complete with distorted low-end, syrupy guitar lines, hard-hitting drums, and hypnotic lead vocals.
“When Slothrust covers other people’s songs, our goal is always to offer them through a different lens,” vocalist Leah Wellbaum says of the cover. “We grew up listening to a lot of ’90s R&b, and ‘Pony’ was always one of our favorites.

Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff, one half of the rap duo Timbaland & Magoo who had a hit “Up Jumps Da Boogie” from their platinum 1997 debut album Welcome to Our World, has died at 50. Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and others confirmed the news on social media but did not give details.
Timbaland & Magoo met as teenagers in Norfolk, Va and broke out with “Up Jumps Da Boogie,” which featured Missy Elliott and Aaliyah and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It made the Top 5 of the R&b chart as the album rose to No. 33. Another single from the disc, “Clock Strikes,” reached the pop Top 40 and No. 24 on the R&b tally.
The duo’s follow-up album, 2001’s Indecent Proposal, peaked at No. 29 and sold more than 350,000 copies but failed to spawn a chart single. That came after their track “We At It Again” was featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack in 2000.
