It’s official: There’s a curse on “The Voice” Instant Save.
Ever since this twist was created back in Season 6, no artist that’s been saved by Twitter or brought back via a wild card has ever gone on to win the show. Even more troubling, all of the Instant Save recipients have placed last in their respective finales aside from Britton Buchanan, who defied the odds to place second to Brynn Cartelli in Season 14. This year Andrew Sevener of Team Blake Shelton tried his hardest to break the curse but he, too, ended up placing last in Tuesday’s season finale.

Brynn Cartelli won season 14 of “The Voice” on Tuesday by edging out Britton Buchanan in one of the closest votes in the history of the reality competition series. Buchanan, who was coached by one-time winning coach Alicia Keys, had been strongly positioned heading into Tuesday’s finale based on his performances on Monday’s final.
Two of the three songs that Buchanan performed on May 21 made the iTunes top 10, thus qualifying for the vote multiplier. He grabbed the top spot with his original single “Where You Come From.” And his cover of the Young Rascals classic “Good Lovin” took the 10th and final slot. The 14th champion of “The Voice” is set to be crowned on Tuesday, May 22 but according to our latest Gold Derby odds, it may not be the artist most fans were expecting. Team Alicia Keys‘ Britton Buchanan has been the favorite to take home the grand prize throughout most of the season, but things were shaken up during the Tuesday, May 15 live results show. The frontrunner hit a major roadblock when he failed to earn enough votes to yield a Top 3 finish, forcing him to battle it out for the final Instant Save of the season. Since the Instant Save made its debut in Season 6, no artist advancing to the finale by this method has ever won “The Voice.” In fact, they all finished in last place in their finales.

Senator Orrin Hatch (R-ut) today introduced the Music Modernization Act. The fact that the Senate bill, S.2823, is virtually identical to Hr 5477 – the House Mma bill passed unanimously on April 25 – signals all systems go for smooth passage and an update to music laws that the industry has been laboring to update for the past decade.
The bill has been assigned to the Senate Judiciary Committee and has been scheduled for hearing Tuesday.
Having opposed the House version, background music company Music Choice as well as SiriusXM are those expected to oppose Senate passage, but they are among a small minority; the industry overwhelmingly supports the bill Hatch called “crucially important” earlier this year, stating, “our music licensing laws are convoluted, out-of-date, and don’t reward songwriters fairly for their work. They’ve also failed to keep up with recent, rapid changes in how Americans purchase and listen to music.”

In her third stint as a coach on “The Voice,” Alicia Keys is proving to be a fierce competitor. She put together a far stronger team than the other three mentors (rookie Kelly Clarkson and veterans Adam Levine and Blake Shelton). The 12 artists that she brought into the battle round earned a whopping 29 chair turns during the blind auditions.
We are now halfway through this second stage of the competition. Keys has pitted eight of her dozen artists against each other in battles on March 19 and 20. Shocked that Sundance Head won The Voice? He is too. "I actually was very shocked, because the whole time, even myself, I predicted Billy [Gilman] to win," the 37 year-old "soul country" singer tells E! News' Erin Lim in the video above. "I really wanted Wé [McDonald] to win. I voted for her ten times." Head, who was on Team Blake, was named the winner of season 11 during last night's two hour finale, beating Team Adam's Billy Gilman and Josh Gallagher and Team Alicia's Wé McDonald for the title. Listening to his single, "Darlin' Don't Go," which was inspired by and written with help from his wife, it's not hard to see why people...

It’s been a long time between drinks for Blake Shelton — at least if we’re talking about the last time The Voice‘s winning-est coach saw one of his artists take home first prize. Indeed, you’d have to go back to Craig Wayne Boyd’s victory in Season 7 — almost two years ago — for that particular milestone.

As the first night of The Voice's two-part season 11 finale ended on Monday, the final four contestants were feeling pretty good about their performances and looking forward to the show's grand finale.
Et's Sophie Schillaci caught up with Josh Gallagher, Billy Gilman, We McDonald and Sundance Head for a Facebook Live interview after their big night, and the singers each opened up about their nerves going into Monday's show, and how they're feeling heading into the season's final night.
