Hallmark’s latest mystery movie will deliver twists, turns, and plenty of laughs, star Paul Campbell has promised. The Cases of Mystery Lane, which premieres March 19 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, stars Campbell and Aimee Garcia as a married couple who get caught up in a murder investigation. But even though the crime is serious, the movie will have a light touch, according to the actor.

Who doesn't love a good mystery?
Hallmark Movies & Mysteries has been bringing old-fashioned mysteries to viewers for a while, and each new release offers something different.
Aimee Garcia and Paul Campbell star in The Cases of Mystery Lane as Birdie and Alden Case, a married couple who has lost their center, who find each other again when they play amateur detective.
This is Aimee's first Hallmark production, and she couldn't have picked a better movie or worked with a better partner.
It's not Aimee and Paul's first time working together, which could be why their chemistry is so natural on screen. Behind the scenes, they share a mutual admiration for one another and aren't afraid to express it.
Aimee said, "He is my kind of actor. He is so professional and so good with comedy and drama, comfortable with improv because he's also a writer. He was just so...

Paul Campbell has starred in (and written!) quite a few Hallmark movies, but the world he steps into for his latest is mostly new to him: mysteries. (Although his 2021 Christmas film The Santa Stakeout did have a crime component.) He stars opposite Aimee Garcia in The Cases of Mystery Lane (premiering March 19 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries). Garcia’s Birdie Case is a bright, successful attorney. Her husband, Alden (Campbell) may be smart and charming, but their marriage is strained because he can’t settle on a career. And so he begins taking classes to become a private investigator (without telling Birdie), only for an assignment to lead to a murder case… that requires him to get help from his wife. Campbell previews the film, hopefully just the first for the Cases. You’ve done quite a few Hallmark movies. What appealed to you about this one? Paul Campbell: The script...

Christmas is quickly approaching, with Netflix having released its yearly selection of original festive romantic comedies.
Over the last few years we’ve seen the streaming service take inspiration from the likes of Hallmark and Lifetime to produce cookie-cutter Christmas romcoms guaranteed to numb your mind like one too many mulled wines.
Revolutionary these films are not, but boy, do they hit the spot during the festive season. With titles like The Princess Switch, The Knight Before Christmas and A Castle for Christmas on offer, audiences have learnt that no plot is too ludicrous for a Netflix Christmas romcom. The more time travel, magic, döppelgangers and fictional European royalty on offer, the better.
With that in mind, I’m taking a look at Netflix’s in-house Christmas romcoms and ranking them based on just how ridiculous they are. This list has also been updated for 2022, which means this is the...

Here’s when and where you can stream more than 20 new holiday movies and specials this year, including at least three new versions of “A Christmas Carol:” the Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell musical “Spirited;” Netflix’s animated “Scrooge” with the voices of Luke Evans and Olivia Colman; and “A New Diva’s Christmas Carol,” where the mean old miser is now a faded music star who’s now a mean old judge on a reality TV show.
And — “Mean Girls” alert — Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett each have a holiday movie out this year. And don’t forget “Hannukah on Rye,” about two deli owners who get matched up for the holidays, featuring singer Lisa Loeb.
If you don’t have the Hallmark channel, which is Christmas movie central, their new movies will be available on-demand on Peacock for 72 hours after their network premiere and on subsequent re-airings.

There's just something about the Christmas holiday season that gives many of us a dopamine kick that has us feeling warm and fuzzy inside, and there's research to back it up. It's for this reason that Christmas movies tend to be so popular this time of year - even the corniest ones seem worth watching. But until recently, it was hard to find Christmas movies that resembled what Christmas looks like for Latinx families. While we could enjoy rewatching films like "A Christmas Story" or "It's a Wonderful Life," it would certainly be nice to see a film that at least acknowledges how Latinxs in the States celebrate the holiday and how the major emphasis for us is actually on Noche Buena (Christmas Eve), not Christmas Day. After all, we do make up 19 percent of the US population, according to a 2021 study from the Pew Research Center. Director Gabriela Tagliavini...

In Netflix's new holiday rom-com "Christmas With You," Aimee Garcia plays Angelina, a Latin pop star dealing with career burnout who's tasked with writing the next "All I Want For Christmas Is You"-level holiday song. Garcia steps into the role of the singing-dancing extraordinaire so seamlessly that one might assume she's actually a pop star. So, is Aimee Garcia really singing in "Christmas With You"?
The answer is yes, and Garcia, who is not a trained singer - believe it or not - tells Popsugar taking on the role of an international pop sensation was "terrifying." While Garcia has some singing experience after recording a song for a season five musical episode of Netflix's "Lucifer," the role of Angelina presented a whole new challenge.
"Netflix had offered me this role in 'Christmas With You' because of the musical episode on 'Lucifer,' but I barely sang and danced [for that]," Garcia says.

Freddie Prinze Jr. says his latest project, a Netflix holiday rom-com co-starring Aimee Garcia, is one of the few times he’s gotten to play a character written explicitly as Latino.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment published Thursday, the Punky Brewster actor and Star Wars: Rebels voice star opened up about how limited his opportunities to play culturally specific characters in Hollywood have been across his nearly three-decade career.
His latest role in Christmas With You, he says, was one of a handful of roles that defied that. “I’ve never gotten to do it before unless I wrote the damn thing,” Prinze said. “So when [director] Gabriela [Tagliavini] brought this to me, all I wanted was the opportunity to earn her respect.”

Freddie Prinze Jr. was a staple of late '90s and early 2000s cinema, starring in iconic rom-coms like "She's All That" and "Boys and Girls," the horror franchise "I Know What You Did Last Summer," and family films like the "Scooby Doo" series. Now, more than 20 years after his last rom-com role in 2001's "Summer Catch," Prinze Jr. is making his highly anticipated return to the genre in his new Netflix holiday movie "Christmas With You."
Prinze Jr. spoke to Popsugar about what made him realize he was ready to return to romance on screen. "I'm 46 now, so I have much more life experience and a much better perspective than I did when I was 26," he says. "When I was 26, I wanted to do everything, and I didn't care what other people wanted."

Freddie Prinze Jr. has officially ended his decades-long hiatus from romantic comedies. The 46-year-old actor stars opposite Aimee Garcia in Netflix’s new holiday movie, “Christmas With You”. The seasonal flick follows Angelina (Garcia), a pop star who’s grappling with career burnout and escapes to a small town where she finds not only inspiration but a shot of love.
Inspired by an Instagram video from a young fan named Cristina (Deja Monique Cruz), Angelina decides to visit the young girl at her school as a bit of a publicity stunt. However, thanks to a fierce winter storm, the singer finds herself snowed in with Cristina and her father Michael (Prinze Jr.), who just so happens to be a music teacher and songwriter. The two inevitably begin a musical collaboration, but their bond might also grow to become something more intimate.

Christmas With You is a romcom starring Aimee Garcia and Freddie Prinze Jr. It is directed by Gabriela Tagliavini.
A young woman who has it all, health, wealth and success, and yet is still a bit lost. However, thanks to Christmas she will recover the true Yuletide spirit in the most traditional way. Does it sound familiar?
Premise
Angelina is a pop star who feels burned-out, and despite it all decides to grant a young fan’s wish in a small-town New York, where she not only finds the inspiration to revitalize her career but also a shot at true love.
Movie Review
New York is so generous in film, that includes the most used clichés, especially, when it comes to the Christmas theme. So if we add to that a music star who has lost the Christmas feel, we have the perfect premise for a season movie.

The ex-teen heartthrob plays a single father who enters into an unlikely romance with a pop star in a milquetoast yet watchable romance
Say what you will about Netflix’s latest yuletide offering, you can’t file a truth-in-advertising complaint. Christmas With You could hardly be a more generic title, and the 90-minute bundle of anodyne cheer lives up to its vanilla promise.
As is often the case with low-budget, high-tinsel end-of-year films, it’s more vibe than narrative, more sweatpants than sequin frock. While some holiday specials thrive on the preposterous setups, Christmas With You keeps it simple and sticks with being more or less an excuse to bop around with the jolly trio who anchor the production. There’s Cristina (Deja Monique Cruz), a high school girl about to have her quiñcenera, her widowed father, and a Latina pop star named Angelina Costa who is struggling to compose...

‘Christmas with You’ Review: Freddie Prinze Jr.’s Netflix Holiday Rom-Com Will Make You Feel Nothing
It’s been 18 years since Freddie Prinze Jr. made his last “Scooby-Doo” appearance, but the beloved ’90s teen star has still yet to solve the mystery of how to be a convincing actor. Not to sound like a total Scrooge, but Netflix’s “Christmas with You” is such a woefully by-the-numbers approach to the holiday rom-com that it forgets the most important ingredient: it even lacks the spirit of Christmas itself.
In Gabriela Tagliavini’s film, Prinze stars as Miguel, a single dad music teacher whose talented singer daughter Cristina (Deja Monique Cruz) uploads a rendition of pop star Angelina’s (Aimee Garcia) hit track on Instagram. Angelina’s own flailing music career hinges on a Christmas hit, all the better to mimic Mariah Carey’s career (this is an actual reference in the movie) but Angelina just can’t tap into the holiday spirit, as she’s reminded at...

As sweet, sticky and snappy as a candy cane, “Christmas with You” provides a refreshing, sugary boost to any Netflix subscriber’s cinematic diet. This holiday offering, centered on a burnt-out pop star searching for creative inspiration and finding love, welcomes its co-star Freddie Prinze Jr. back to rom-coms, a genre from which he’s been absent for the past two decades. It also delivers unexpected seasonal delights with authentic, universal appeal. The ease with which it packages comedic hijinks and poignancy allows specifics of Latin American culture to shape and broaden its genuine emotional impact. And what a lovely gift that turns out to be.
Recording artist Angelina (Aimee Garcia) has been conquering the pop charts for decades, but finds herself stuck at a creative crossroads. The industry at large and her record producer Barry (Lawrence J. Hughes) are determined to pit her against label-mate/ingénue Cheri (Nicolette Stephanie Templier), who has stronger songs,...

"I really think this could be the one, Mo." "The song, or the music teacher?" Netflix has revealed an official trailer for a schmaltzy holiday romance called Christmas With You, one of their latest Hallmark Channel offerings. The streamer continues to make "content" that is generic and easily digestible, resulting in a lot of Hallmark-esque low quality films that will be forgotten as soon as the credits roll. What is this one about? Seeking inspiration for a hit holiday song, and feeling career burn out, a pop star named Angelina grants a young fan's Christmas wish to meet her — and finds a shot at true love along the way. This seems like a rip-off mash-up of the plots from both Marry Me and Notting Hill previously, both of which are much better films than this. Christmas With You stars Aimee Garcia as Angelina, Freddie Prinze Jr. as her "music teacher" love interest,...

Nobody in the Montana Territory circa 1881 watches a former slave like Cicero (Isaiah Mustafa) walk into town without keen interest. That goes for friends and foes alike. Luckily for him, Yellowstone City is a progressive settlement in many ways. It has its fair share of racists and bigots to be sure, but you can’t help feeling heartened as far as seeing a saloon owned by a gay couple (Richard Dreyfuss’ Edgar and John Ales’ Mickey) who act as fathers to wayward souls like the young Dakota native working the stables (Tanaya Beatty’s Violet) or the Latina den mother of their brothel (Aimee Garcia’s Isabel). If anyone is willing to open their doors to Cicero, these are the folks. But they’re not the only ones drinking today.

The first tip-off is the title: “Murder at Yellowstone City” is not your standard-issue shoot-’em-up. Rather, director Richard Gray’s well-crafted and handsomely mounted indie is as much a solidly constructed mystery as it is it a conventionally satisfying oater, with much to recommend to fans of either genre who rarely get to sample such a mix. Indeed, outside of Henry Hathaway’s “Five Card Stud” (1968) and the lamentably short-lived 2003 TV series “Peacemakers,” it’s hard to recall many other scenarios that suggest what might have resulted had Zane Grey and Agatha Christie bellied up to the bar and swapped ideas.
