PARIS -- French pay TV group Canal Plus's security chief resigned Tuesday after allegations that employees at the pay-TV company had been spied upon. Gilles Kaehlin, a former employee of the French internal security services, resigned his post amid a media row following the publication of a book by one of his staff, who claims he was ordered to carry out covert surveillance on some of the group's employees. The book's author, Pierre Martinet, a former French secret service agent, claimed he put together a file on Bruno Gaccio, co-writer of the "Guignols", the channel's celebrated satirical puppet show.
