In World War II, she received an Award of Merit from the U.S. Treasury for her promotion of war bond sales.
She is interred in Arlington National Cemetery with her husband, Thomas J. Hutter, a former World War II United States Army surgeon. - In two out of her four credited films, Manila-born Fely Franquelli portrayed a Filipina involved in the fight against the Japanese during World War II: "Cry Havoc" (1943) and "Back to Bataan" (1945). Her role in the latter was the more substantial of the two.
