- Mark's brother Joe was killed while Mark was filming 'Young Catherine' in 1990. Following a mid-air collision he attempted to fly his damaged plane away from populated areas and was killed in the subsequent crash.
- The yellow Harley Davidson on which he died, at the time, was one of only six like it in the world.
