"Had a dream last night..." "Dreams don't always make sense." Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for Stronghold, an indie post-apocalyptic thriller made by Brazilian filmmaker Julia Camara. This will be available to watch on VOD in August - doesn't look like good enough for theaters anyway. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives are disrupted and their future threatened. The film stars Bianca A. Santos and Jaqueline Fleming as the familial pair in peril, and Oliver Rayón as the stranger who shows up, plus Keith Allen West and Narineh Tahmasebian. The film premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in LA this year. The dialogue is rough, the plot is derivative - you've been warned. // Continue Reading ›...

Writer/director Jeffrey Reddick has a lot of form when it comes to supernatural horror. Not only did he create the long-running Final Destination franchise but he’s also behind the likes of underrated and under-seen supernatural slasher Tamara, Dead Awake and the more recent The Final Wish. All films that play with the idea of the dead returning for revenge on the living in one form or another. And Don’t Look Back is no different.

"What if my actions are coming back to haunt me?" Gravitas Ventures has released an official trailer for an indie horror film called Don't Look Back, marking the feature directorial debut of a filmmaker named Jeffrey Reddick, who created the Final Destination franchise and wrote the scripts for all of the sequels, too. This time he toys with the "Good Samaritan" concept: when a young woman overcoming her traumatic past is among several witnesses who see a man fatally assaulted and don't intervene, they find themselves targeted by someone, or something, out for revenge. Or is there something more going on? Kourtney Bell stars as Caitlin, along with Bryan Batt, Will Stout, Skyler Hart, Jeremy Holm, Jaqueline Fleming, Amanda Grace Benitez, Damon Lipari, and Han Soto. At first glance, this seems like I Know What You Did Last Summer meets Final Destination, with a few extra intriguing supernatural twists. Take a look.

It’s safe to say I’m a fan of the films of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. In my seven years of doing this, I can count on one hand the number of times I've inadvertently deleted or otherwise lost audio from an interview -- literally one of the worst things that can happen to a journalist. Unfortunately, I was forced to tick off one of those fingers just last week, when I settled in to transcribe my chat with Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton -- the longtime creative partners who collaborated on a total of four entries in the Saw franchise and two films in their Collector series -- and discovered that our nearly 30-minute chat had been wiped out entirely. Luckily, Dunstan was kind and understanding enough to respond to a set of emailed questions in the aftermath, and while I lament that our much more extensive previous conversation will never see the light of day -- among other things, you better believe I dug...

It’s not easy being a vampire hunter, especially when you’re also the President of the United States. You’ll get to find out how Abraham Lincoln swings his two jobs when Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” opens this Summer. You’ve been waiting for this, right? Probably not. Of all the Summer films, “Vampire Hunter” is flying so low under the radar in terms of building buzz, it might end up killing the whole “let’s just toss tow genres together and see what happens!” shtick once and for all (finishing what “Cowboys and Aliens” started, natch.) Of course if that happens, it would also spell the end of Seth Grahame-Smith’s career in Hollywood, but hey, he’s still got the books. Starring Benjamin Walker as Abe Lincoln, with Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk, Jimmi Simpson, Jaqueline Fleming, and Erin Wasson.

Following up on those new images from Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” that Todd posted yesterday, here are a half dozen more from the film. I’m still not sure if the movie is going to play it straight or go slightly camp with it. After all, we’re talking about Abraham Friggin Lincoln fighting vampires with an ax here. It’s kinda hard to go Too serious with something like that. Right? Then again, I guess it could work. I can’t really tell the tone of the film from anything that’s been released so far, and five new images don’t make it anymore apparent. According to the USAToday article, the film will be “serious history and tongue-in-cheek horror”, whatever that means. The blonde that’s fighting Abe is Erin Wasson, by the way. Also starring Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper,...

With a title like “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of tone they’re going with for the movie. From everything I’ve seen, it looks like a pretty dead-on serious film, similar to “Cowboys and Aliens”, another film where the title would seem to indicate a wacky, campy product. Turns out, that film was, for the most part, played pretty straight, with a dead-serious Daniel Craig. Star Benjamin Walker looks similarly determined to slay vamps in these three new pics from the movie. “Abraham Lincoln” finds Walker playing a young version of the man who would eventually become the 16th President of the United States, and co-stars Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk, Jimmi Simpson, and Jaqueline Fleming. Timur Bekmambetov of “Wanted” fame directs. Slaying June 22, 2012. Get more images and videos in our “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” preview...

Hey, killing vampires in-between that whole running the country stuff is hard work, you know. Every now and then even Honest Abe Lincoln’s gotta take a little rest … with his trusty ax nearby just in case, of course. Check out a new International poster for Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”. Yes, it’s a novel concept, but so was “Cowboys and Aliens”, and we all know how that one turned out… And no, studio people, constantly calling Bekmambetov a “visionary filmmaker” in all your film’s press material doesn’t necessarily make him one. The film stars Benjamin Walker as the Prez/vampire slayer, with Anthony Mackie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Dominic Cooper, Rufus Sewell, Alan Tudyk, Jimmi Simpson, and Jaqueline Fleming. Abe strikes (then takes a break) June 22, 2012. Get more images and videos in our “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” preview page...

Chicago – One way to craft an unforgettable, undeniably adept film is to make a new one. Hollywood views that as financially risky, though, and it often doesn’t happen without being based on a book with a built-in audience or a film that’s already an international box-office success.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
Just like the Swedish smash hit “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” was recently remade for U.S. audiences by David Fincher of “The Social Network” fame, producer and star Mark Wahlberg found financial worth – and he’d sell you on artistic, too – in the international remake route. He’s hoping he’d earn U.S. assurance from what recently worked in Iceland.
While U.S. audiences were well aware of Fincher’s hijacking from Sweden, “Contraband” being a U.S. remake of Iceland’s “Reykjavík-Rotterdam” is lesser known. That film most Americans can’t pronounce is one of the...

Here’s a new image of Benjamin Walker taking the pain to some vampire types from Russian director Timur Bekmambetov’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”, his revisionist take on the 16th President of the United States as a secret vampire slayer. By now you.ve no doubt seen the candid photographs of Daniel Day-Lewis in character on the set of Steven Spielberg.s Lincoln. These are . something different: .Honest. We have them below and you can see them full size over on IGN: I love the design on these. You can.t see him in the poster, but that.s Benjamin Walker as Lincoln. He.ll be joined on screen by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, Dominic Cooper as Henry Sturgess, Rufus Sewell as Adam, Alan Tudyk as Stephen A. Douglas, and Jaqueline Fleming as Harriet Tubman. That.s awesome. The film is Bekmambetov.s adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith.s mash-up novel, which re-imagines our 16th president as a vampire slayer stomping through the Civil War-era United States. Bekmambetov...

Contraband Trailer. Baltasar Kormákur‘s Contraband (2012) movie trailer stars Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster, Giovanni Ribisi, and Lukas Haas. Contraband‘s plot synopsis: “Chris Farraday long ago abandoned his life of crime, but after his brother-in-law, Andy, botches a deal for his ruthless boss, he’s forced back into doing what he does best — running contraband — to settle the debt.”
This not the first time this storyline has appeared on screen. “This is a remake of the 2008 film Reykjavik-Rotterdam, which Baltasar Kormákur also appeared in, featuring a new screenplay adaptation by Aaron Guzikowski.” The Contraband plot reminds me of the remake for Gone in Sixty Seconds where a criminal comes out retirement after another criminal related to them bungles a crime and will be killed.
Contraband also stars J.K. Simmons, Lukas Haas, Diego Luna, Robert Wahlberg, Monica Acosta, Jaqueline Fleming, Michael Beasley, Nedal Yousef, and Kirk Bovill.

After changing its director and its title, Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father is getting ready to roll cameras this coming January, and it may do so with a rising star in a major role. As ShowBiz411 (via ThePlaylist) has heard, Captain America and The Devil’s Double actor Dominic Cooper is now rumored to be playing the son of John Travolta‘s John Gotti, in the role of John Gotti Jr.
People are already pointing out that he has no real resemblance to the actual man, who also happens to be a producer on the movie, but the guy is talented enough where I wouldn’t consider it to be a real problem — not only that, but he knows this kind of part. This Friday, in fact, he’ll be seen as Uday “Son of Saddam” Hussein in The Devil’s Double; there would definitely be an interesting...

There’s nothing like a nice article in the New York Times to quiet your naysayers. Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter got theirs today, and in return they gave the Nyt the first pic from the film. Two, if you count the behind-the-scenes pic of director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted) and star Benjamin Walker.
