A couple days ago, Sony Pictures unveiled a trailer for their Marvel Comics adaptation Venom: The Last Dance, giving us our first look at the film that’s meant to wrap up the Venom series and is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release. Now Forbes has published an interview with star Tom Hardy in which he talks about ending the series with a bang – and teased that this movie might have an R rating. (The previous two Venom movies were rated PG-13.)
Hardy told Forbes, “This one – I’m so, so excited about because we’ve gone much bigger. If the mission statement is commercial, blockbuster, action and superhero movie, how can we imbue a sense of something that’s fun and different? What’s going to entice people that they have a memory, they have a moment, they have an event? This comes from us who are really,...

Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock for one final time in this autumn’s Venom: The Last Dance. Here’s a new trailer.
Venom is one of the more off-beat and wayward franchises in the superhero genre, with Tom Hardy evidently relishing his dual role of scruffy journalist Eddie Brock and Venom, the alien symbiote that becomes his unlikely partner.
Six years on from the 2018 original and the 2021 sequel, Let There Be Carnage, Hardy reprises the role for the third (and seemingly final) time in this October’s Venom The Last Dance. And if you’ve been wondering whether or not it’ll continue the knowingly over-the-top style of the last two movies, then fear not: the trailer below sees Venom fighting a monster on the roof of a moving jumbo jet and, a bit later, possessing a horse.
Actor and filmmaker Kelly Marcel (who wrote the last two installments) is on directing duties here,...

Now the film, titled Venom: The Last Dance, is aiming for an October 25th theatrical release – and today, Sony Pictures is starting to build the hype by unveiling the first trailer! You can check it out in the embed above.
The first Venom was scripted by Jeff Pinker, Scott Rosenberg, and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer directed that film, which made $856 million. But then Fleischer turned his focus to making Zombieland: Double Tap and Uncharted – so Andy Serkis took over as director on Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Which was written by Kelly Marcel, working from a story she crafted with star Tom Hardy. That sequel earned $506 million at the pandemic era global box office. Serkis said he would be...

Wait, you want more? Sigh.
As the new title implies, Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Tom Hardy’s final outing as the titular anti-hero, also known as Eddie Brock. British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films – 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage – will also direct as well as produce this time round, making it quite an auteur project.

Magician heist sequel Now You See Me 3 – in the works for years – is finally set to begin filming in the next six months according to star Jesse Eisenberg.
Proving that time itself is a dark illusion, it’s now over a decade since the original Now You See Me materialised in cinemas. Directed by Louis Leterrier, its magician-based twist on the knock-about heist format – a kind of Oceans 11 with wands – made it a decent hit, spawning a miniature franchise.
According to Jesse Eisenberg, who recently spoke to Collider, Now You See Me 3 – a sequel talked about as long ago as 2015 – is finally due to get underway this year.
Responding that he’s read the script, Eisenberg told the outlet that “Hopefully it will happen in the next six months,” and added that “it’s really great.”

Hollywood’s biggest night (that isn’t the 2024 Film Independent Spirit Awards) is coming up, with the 96th Academy Awards taking place this Sunday, March 10. Of course, many Oscar-nominated filmmakers began their careers in independent film. So! This week we’re taking a look back at some of the best Film Independent moments from this year’s Oscar nominees. First up: Oppenheimer composer Ludwig Göransson brings Black Panther to Beverly Hills.

Entering the Film Independent Presents special event An Evening With Ludwig Göransson on January 15, attendees to the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills found a stage set with multiple instruments arranged for performance. Chatting before the show, a fellow composer agreed that the scene seemed to set up for African percussion, some sort of guitar band and a string section (which turned out to be a quintet.) The eclectic mix of instruments seemed a good...

The Uncharted franchise finally made its way to the big screen last 2022 and was considered a success by Sony’s standards and is now hailed a franchise according to Tom Rothman. Sequels and spinoffs are definitely up for grabs, and given the success of the first entry and Mark Wahlberg’s update, production may be well underway. After being stuck in development hell for years, one could only hope that future installments will have a smoother production.
Despite getting mixed reception from both critics and fans alike, the first film directed by Ruben Fleischer managed to generate $400 million at the box office. Tom Holland also has respect for the IP after becoming a fan during the production of Spider-Man: Homecoming which made his athleticism a huge factor for his casting and the film evolves around a younger Drake which serves as a loose prequel from the original storyline.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe At Worldwide Box Office: From Venom To Madame Web! ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
With Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web out in the theatres, another movie has been added to Sony’s Spider-Man universe. We have seen other films in that universe, including Tom Hardy-led Venom. However, the films comparatively earn less at the box office than the MCU movies, but remind you, we are not talking about Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films.
The Spider-Man movies have been under Sony for a long time until Tom Holland played the role; it merged with the MCU, and thanks to that, the fans witnessed Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom’s versions of Peter Parker in 2021’s No Way Home. In the end credits, we saw Tom Hardy’s characters, Eddie Brock and Venom.

A Look at Video Game Movie Adaptations With Highest Box Office Success (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Video game movie adaptations, especially video games with large fanbases, have always been a touchy subject. The ‘physics’ of video games is different; translating all that action and storyline into a film is not the most straightforward task, and when you factor in the expectations of an entire fanbase — the whole ordeal becomes downright daunting. Luckily, video game adaptations have taken off in the past decade, especially on TV in 2023 — and quite successfully! Their box office numbers prove that.
But, as mentioned above, these movies are brutal, considering their more fantastical elements and ‘animation.’ The latest addition anticipated for success in this category is the upcoming Minecraft, scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.
Minecraft has a star-studded cast, including Jason Momoa, Matt Berry, Danielle Brooks, and possibly Jack Black. Let’s just wait and see how it pans out.

Exclusive: Uriah Shelton has been cast as a series regular in the Prime Video series Motorheads from writer/showrunner John A. Norris.
Shelton will portray Curtis, somewhat of an outsider and a skilled young mechanic who crafted his motorcycle from scratch. He strives to keep a distance from the world of his older brother, Ray.
As Deadline revealed in late November, the series also stars Ryan Phillippe, Nathalie Kelley, Michael Cimino and Melissa Collazo.
Motorheads is about first love, first heartbreak, and turning the key in your very first car. Set in a once-thriving rust-belt town that’s now searching for a glimmer of hope, the series is the adrenaline-filled story of a group of outsiders who form an unlikely friendship over a mutual love of automobiles. And while some characters will be navigating the hierarchy and rules of high school, others will be racing from a dark past.

Drake described the forthcoming installment as a “reimagining” of the first two films, with production set to begin next spring.

Production had to come to a halt when the Screen Actors Guild went on strike in July – but Sony was obviously confident that the strike was going to be wrapped up quickly when they announced that same month that they had moved Venom 3 up to a July release. But the strike only came to an end last night, and as Venom 3 gears up to head back into production, Deadline reports that Sony now has it scheduled to reach theatres on November 8, 2024.
November 8, 2024 is a date Sony always had reserved for one of their Marvel-inspired properties… they just didn’t expect Venom 3 to be the film that would land on that date.

Despite the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, sales agents and distributors are convening in Santa Monica this week in the hopes of reconnecting with buyers and kicking off deal discussions at the American Film Market.
After an underwhelming Toronto Film Festival, which saw little deal activity, there’s hope that a few of the starry packages being shopped at AFM will get picked up. But given the climate in Hollywood, many projects won’t officially hit the market until February at the European Film Market in Berlin. The marketplace is not only strained by the strike but the shifting appetites and belt-tightening at the major studios and streamers. At the same time, the return of buyers from China to AFM after several years away is seen as a positive sign.
