- Paul Ferris was unable to work in his last few years owing to the debilitating and depressing disease Huntington's Chorea. He was found dead at his Bristol flat on 30 October 1995 and an inquest was held on 30 January 1996. Coroner's verdict: suicide by drug overdose.
- Copmposed the Cliff Richard hit "Visions" in the '60s, around the same time as The Shadows released their version of the Maroc 7 theme that he also composed.
- In 1987 MGM/UA refused to pay royalties to Ferris for the video release of Witchfinder General (1968) and brought in Kendall Schmidt to re-score the movie on a lower budget.
- Billed himself as "Morris Jar" in his acting appearance in "Witchfinder General" as a means of paying tribute to the composer Maurice Jarre whose work he admired.
