Online TV platform Pluto TV is feeling festive this April 20 (4/20) -- a counterculture holiday that celebrates all things cannabis.
In addition to piloting a skywriting stunt in Los Angeles today, where a plane wrote a message urging passersby to “Get High” (above), the free Ott service offered up a special block of programming on its very own Thc channel -- located at number 420, naturally -- which celebrates marijuana year-round with cartoons, documentaries, and live music. Today’s marathon features The Greatest Movie Ever Rolled, following comedians and potheads Doug Benson and Graham Elwood on a comedy tour; Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap, where Ice-t travels the country to speak with prominent hip hop artists; and more.

The summer music festival season is over, but there’s still at least one can’t-miss festival on the horizon. This weekend marks the third annual Los Angeles Podcast Festival, which features live recordings of dozens of comedy podcasts, as well as panels, stand-up shows, and parties. The lineup of all-star microphone fiends features Marc Maron (Wtf With Marc Maron), Aisha Tyler (Girl on Guy), Dana Gould (The Dana Gould Hour), Jimmy Pardo (Never Not Funny), Todd Glass (The Todd Glass Show), April Richardson (Go Bayside!), Larry Miller (This Week With Larry Miller), Janet Varney (The Jv Club), and an eclectic bunch of others.

Doug Benson is very funny. Whether or not you agree with the above statement is a good barometer of how you’ll feel about the perpetually inebriated comedian’s latest film, The Greatest Movie Ever Rolled. Unlike his previous effort, Super High Me, this one is akin to a Morgan Spurlock documentary in name only. This one follows Benson on tour with comedy partner Graham Elwood as they traverse through the American midwest. It’s not about smoking marijuana for 30 consecutive days, although that probably happens within the film. This movie is simply a road movie. Two comedians and the open road. Which is where it begins to rely heavily on how much you are entertained by these two men. From a technical standpoint, it’s a capably made documentary. Director Ryan Polito, whose major credits include a number of Taylor Swift concert films, has knack for keeping things naturalistic and cutting out a lot of the...

Wow! I literally just jumped up for joy hearing this final wave. I think that this might be my favorite selection of films since I have been attending. Films like American Mary, Antiviral, Berberian Sound Studio, the remake of Who Can Kill A Child? – Come Out and Play and the World Premiere of the sequel to The Collector! These films plus a few others just caps off what I’m sure will be my favorite Fantastic Fest yet!
Also, for those keeping score, Michael picked 7 movies that are definitely showing while I picked 6. However, this could change once the secret screenings show. Again, Fantastic Fest starts next Thursday and we plan to have reviews, interviews and possibly video & audio blogs. Anyway, here’s the announcement:
