Disney Channel has made it official — giving a straight-to-series order to a spinoff of its hit live-action comedy series Jessie, which will wrap its run after four seasons and 101 episodes. The yet-untitled spinoff will be toplined by original series’ stars Peyton List, Karan Brar and Skai Jackson who will reprise their roles as of Emma, Ravi and Zuri Ross, respectively. Disney Channel has ordered a fourth season of Jessie for a January 2015 premiere. The live-action comedy series stars Debby Ryan, Kevin Chamberlin, Peyton List, Karan Brar, Cameron Boyce, and Skai Jackson. Ryan, who also produces, is slated to direct an episode this summer. There’s also a wedding arc set for this fall in which Jessie gets engaged. From 2014 to date, Jessie is TV’s No. 1 telecast in its time period, and overall, is TV’s No. 2 live-action series in kids 2-11 (1.6M/4.0) and kids 6-11 (1.3M/5.4), and the No. 4 TV series in tweens 9-14 (1.2M/4.8), according to Nielsen. The order comes ahead of the Disney Channel series’ Season 2 finale in September. In the current season, Jesse is No. 1 series in its Friday time period in the kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and tween demos, growing from its first year. Production on Season 3 will begin in July in La ahead of a fall launch. The series stars Debby Ryan as a nanny for the high-profile Ross family — 14-year-old Emma, the biological child of the bunch, 11-year-old Indian adoptee Ravi, 12-year-old American adoptee Luke and 8-year-old African adoptee Zuri. Disney Channel has picked up two live-action pilots from some of the creatives behind its two top-rated series, including a spinoff of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and another from a consulting producer on Hannah Montana. Housebroken is a half-hour multicamera project that centers on the Suite Life character of Arwin the handyman moving in with his sister to take care of her kids. The actor portraying the recurring role of Arwin on Suite Life is Brian Stepanek. The project is from executive producers Danny Kallis, Pamela Eells and Irene Dreayer. Kallis and Eells are writing, with Rich Correll directing the pilot. Kallis and Dreayer are executive producers on Suite Life, while Correll has directed episodes of the series, and Eells has written for the show.
