“A Christmas Carol” has won a whopping five Tony Awards. It swept the design categories for plays, winning costume, lighting, scenic and sound. It also prevailed for Best Score. This marks the first time a Christmas themed production has ever won at the Tonys. So not only is it the first Christmas-time winner, it’s the first such play to take home multiple awards!
This latest adaptation of Charles Dickens classic novel was written by Jack Thorne (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”) and directed by Matthew Warchus. The cast featured Campbell Scott as Ebenezer Scrooge, a role that his father George C. Scott played to great acclaim in a film version. Additional cast members included Andrea Martin as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Lachanze as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Dashiell Eaves as Bob Crachitt. The play was nominated for a total of five Tony Awards.

There’s an abundance of treats offered by director Matthew Warchus’ staging of A Christmas Carol – like Andrea Martin dressed as a Victorian caroler mingling with the audience at Broadway Lyceum Theatre, handing out Clementines and cookies before curtain – but perhaps the best is the revelation that the Dickens chestnut can still inspire such a vibrant, compassionate and timely telling.
Adapted by playwright Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), and starring Campbell Scott as Scrooge, Martin and Lachanze as the Ghosts of Christmas Past and Present, respectively, this Carol (with different casts) has become something of a holiday tradition at London’s Old Vic. Broadway should be so lucky.
With a few moments of immersive theater – a feast in Act II cleverly and playfully makes its way to the (imagined) threadbare Cratchit home in a delightful manner than won’t be spoiled here – this Carol is presented on a dreamlike,...

A batch of new images from Gotham‘s strangely-titled upcoming episode, “Everyone Has A Cobblepot,” have appeared online, showing the return of young Assistant District Attorney Harvey Dent – played by Masters of Sex alum Nicholas D’Agosto – and the debut of the creepy serial killer known as the Dollmaker.
The Borgias and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 actor Colm Feore was cast as the Dollmaker (or in this case, Dr. Dulmacher) late last month, and based on the episode’s synopsis, he’s the one behind the creepy organ donation ring that Fish Mooney was recently caught up in, which makes sense considering he was attached to child smuggling earlier in the season as well.
Check out the new Gotham episode synopsis below, and be sure to tune in when “Everyone Has a Cobblepot” airs on March 2nd, 2015.
