- Inducted into the International Tap Dance Hall of Fame in 2020.
- Betty White received criticism for having Duncan as a tap dancer in her own show The Betty White Show (1952). The producers wanted to remove him from the show, but White said "He stays. Live with it." and gave Duncan more airtime. This soon led to the show's cancellation. Duncan credits White for starting his career.
- Survived by his wife, a step-son Sean Carbone, two step-grandchildren, two sisters, Mabel Duncan, and Eleanor Starr, and a brother, Michael.
