Photo: RopeofSilicon.com It only feels appropriate to send off a parting shot as Comic Con obviously dominated the site for the better part of the last five days and in all honesty I'm not sure if I am giong to do it again next year, so I may as well make the most of what my fourth year in attendance garnered me. Probably the one thing studios are most interested in is figuring out what movie(s) came out of the convention with the most buzz and attention lavished on them from the online media masses. Nielsen Entertainment has promoted two executives to fill key positions that were vacated this week when the marketing and measurement firm fired three employees and then sued them. The company elevated Kathy Benjamin to senior vp home entertainment, replacing Jason Kramer, and David Gilison to senior vp Nielsen Interactive Entertainment, replacing Michael Dowling. Kramer and Dowling, along with former vp Grant Johnson, were fired Monday after Nielsen learned that the trio were planning to create a company that would compete with Nielsen. In a lawsuit filed later that day, Nielsen accused the three of misappropriating trade secrets belonging to Nielsen.

Nielsen Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against three former employees who intend to launch a competing market-research company, claiming that the recently ousted executives misappropriated Nielsen trade secrets. The company filed its suit late Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court against Michael Dowling, Grant Johnson and Jason Kramer. Nielsen confirmed Monday that the three were fired from their positions (HR 3/21). Dowling was a senior vp who ran Nielsen Interactive Entertainment, which, among other services offered, measures advertising in video games. Johnson was a vp in that unit, and Kramer was executive vp and general manager at Nielsen NRG Research and Analytics.

Nielsen Entertainment has dismissed three senior executives, including the general manager of its Nielsen Interactive Entertainment unit, a Nielsen spokesman said Monday. Nielsen spokesman Jack Loftus confirmed that the executives terminated Monday were Michael Dowling, general manager of Nielsen Interactive Entertainment, which measures advertising in video games; Nielsen Interactive Entertainment vp Grant Johnson; and Jason Kramer, general manager of home entertainment. Dowling, who founded the unit about five years ago, said that the three are preparing to launch a service that competes in some fashion with Nielsen Entertainment, though he was not specific. He strongly denied any wrongdoing.
