“Ted Lasso,” “Yellowjackets,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Renee Rapp were just a few of the winners from the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards, held Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton.
It’s the first of two dual ceremonies — the second happens May 11 in New York City — but we’ll go out on a limb and say it’s the best one because it’s first, and in Los Angeles (just kidding). And prior to the awards actually being handed out, the stars were out in force with some absolutely iconic looks for the Red Carpet.
Among them were Sydney Sweeney, Wayne Brady, Chlöe, Jason Sudeikis, Niecy Nash, and that’s barely a sample. Read on and see some of the best outfits and fiercest attitudes from the GLAAD Media Awards 2024.

Melissa Joan Hart is a fan-favorite actor who also happens to be a certified pop culture icon. She rose to prominence for her work in family-friendly sitcoms like Clarissa Explains It All only to become a major star for her work as the title character in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Ultimately, it was Hart’s family-friendly image that led to some issues down the road. Most notably, Hart faced some serious repercussions after she opted to pose for the men’s magazine Maxim when the young star was at the height of her success.

Clueless came out in 1995, and since then, it’s become an iconic part of American culture. In fact, it remains so beloved that Alicia Silverstone, who played the starring role of Cher in the film, brought back the character for a commercial during this year’s Super Bowl. Before Clueless became a movie, it was almost created as a TV series instead. But the studio executives passed on the idea because they thought it was missing one important element.

Stacey Dash and Elisa Donovan from 1995’s Clueless are opening up about where they think their characters would be in a possible remake.
While speaking with Entertainment Tonight at ’90s Con over the weekend, Dash said it “would be up to Amy [Heckerling, the original movie’s director]” as to whether the cast would get back together for another take on the ’90s staple.
“Everybody seems to think that we have some sort of opinion or idea,” Donovan added. “I certainly feel like there is a real desire from fans and the public to see that.”
As for where their characters, Dionne and Amber, would be more than two and a half decades later, Donovan said that “seeing them as adults and in their lives as grown-ups and with children or without children would be pretty hilarious.”

After 28 years, Alicia Silverstone reprised her role as Cher Horowitz from the cult classic Clueless for Rakuten’s Super Bowl commercial on Sunday.
Paying homage to a debate scene from the original movie, Silverstone, 46, is filmed walking to the front of the classroom, wearing her iconic yellow plaid jacket, which was redesigned for the commercial by Christian Siriano, who had a cameo in the ad as well.
Silverstone was also joined by fellow Clueless cast member, Elisa Donovan, who reprised her role as Cher’s nemesis, Amber, for the commercial.

For football fans, the Super Bowl is a time to see how the end of the NFL season plays out, with extra pressure if your team made it to the big game. For non-football fans, the Super Bowl is a time to gather together, eat lots of food and hush everyone around you during the commercial breaks.

Alicia Silverstone reprised her Clueless role for a Super Bowl Lvii commercial. The actor slipped into her yellow plaid outfit for a TV spot promoting the Rakuten service. Check out the throwback in the video posted above.
The ad starts with Silverstone as Cher Horowitz saying that she “used to be pretty clueless about shopping” in a scene reminiscent of the 1995 film comedy taking place in Mr. Hall’s debate class. To recreate the scene from the Amy Heckerling-directed movie, Cher even had her nemesis Amber, played by Elisa Donovan, next to her.
Another callback from the film takes Silverstone into Cher’s rotating closet picking out clothes, a scene at Rodeo Drive and a location in front of the Horowitz’s Beverly Hills mansion that includes the iconic white Jeep. From the looks of it, Cher hasn’t gotten any better at driving and things keep popping up “out of nowhere.

Alicia Silverstone is Cher Horowitz once again. The actor reprised her iconic role in a “Clueless”-themed ad for Rakuten that ran during the Super Bowl.
The commercial opens with Silverstone walking to the front of a crowded high school classroom. While Supergrass’ period-appropriate 1995 alt-rock hit “Alright” plays in the background, she then turns to the students and addresses them, monologuing about the benefits of the shopping app Rakuten. It’s a scene reminiscent of the classroom debate from Amy Heckerling’s 1995 comedy — and that’s just one of the many callbacks featured in the ad.
Cher’s spinning closet also makes a cameo, as does Rodeo Drive. Another shot, in which Silverstone sits in the driver’s seat of a white Jeep that’s just crashed into a delivery van, makes it clear that — even 28 years later — Cher’s driving skills haven’t gotten much better.

For a new Super Bowl ad for cash-back shopping platform Rakuten, Alicia Silverstone slipped into a yellow tartan skirt to reprise her star-making turn in Amy Heckerling’s iconic 1995 comedy Clueless. But when it comes to the big game, it turns out Silverstone is just as adorably oblivious as Cher Horowitz.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever watched the Super Bowl in my life,” the actress tells THR by phone from Amsterdam, where she’s shooting a movie. “If I didn’t have this commercial for Rakuten, I wouldn’t know when the Super Bowl was.”
No doubt countless Clueless fans are glad she got that sorted out so they can see her opposite Elisa Donovan’s Amber in the well-known (and much quoted) debate scene. “It was nothing short of surreal,” Donovan told THR of getting the gang back together for the spot that was developed by Rakuten’s in-house marketing team,...

Alicia Silverstone has returned to her film roots 27 years after Clueless hit theaters and changed the fashion world. In honor of Super Bowl Lvii, the shopping site Rakuten chose one of the 1995 film’s most iconic scenes to recreate in an ad. Not only did Alicia return to embody Cher Horowitz, but Elisa Donovan also donned her fashionable best to play Cher’s rival, Amber Mariens. Here are the details.

Clueless was a film that captured the essence of 1990s glam fashion. The New York Times wrote that grunge fashion dominated the industry during that period. This was replicated in the film by several characters, including Brittany Murphy’s Tai. The bright, bold colors worn by the lead female characters caused a sensation due to their take on a typical schoolgirl uniform, punched up a notch.

In a new Super Bowl ad for Rakuten, Alicia Silverstone is reprising one of her most famous roles alongside fellow co-star Elisa Donovan, and once again, the debate is fierce. The spot opens with Cher (Silverstone) and Amber (Donovan) in their classroom debating whether “fiscally responsible shopping” is an oxymoron. But Cher once again takes the cake by highlighting the pros of the service, including its many Cash Back opportunities.

The Super Bowl hasn't actually happened yet, but as is tradition these days, we're already getting a good look at many of the biggest commercials that are set to run during the game. Does this take pretty much all of the joy and surprise out of actually experiencing them live without any warning? Yes. Are some of them still a lot of fun? Also yes.
Among the batch of early releases is a commercial for the online cash back program Rakuten, which works as an extension on your computer or an app on your phone that helps you get coupons and cash back when shopping. Rakuten went all out for their Super Bowl commercial with a scene that features one of the most recognizable characters in teen movie history: Cher Horowitz from "Clueless." Alicia Silverstone is reprising the role she played 28 years ago, alongside Elisa Donovan, who played antagonist Amber in the film.

"She is never, ever allowed in my house again!" Dust Bowl Pictures has debuted a brand new official trailer for an indie drama titled Complacent, written & directed by filmmaker Steven R. Strangely this film is listed on IMDb as originally premiering in 2012, but I can't find any info as to where it premiered then, even though it's only just now getting a release (8 years later...?). "I know how to take care of myself." Shout Studios has released an official trailer for a film titled Mdma, telling the mostly true story of a drug ring that a young Asian American woman ran in the 1980s. This semi-autobiographical period crime drama is both written and directed by Angie Wang, and it's about the story of Angie Wang and her gritty past - she was just Chinese-American woman "scrambling for status in a world of white, west-coast privilege." This was originally titled Cardinal X when it premiered at a few film festivals last year. While in college, and only at the age of 19, Angie became one of California's top dealers of the drug known as "Ecstasy", or "X", officially called Mdma. It's a popular party drug that became common often at raves and underground dance parties in the 1990s. Annie Q. stars as Angie, and the film's full cast includes Francesca Eastwood,...

Donald Faison encountered a very Clueless fan on Tuesday.
The 44-year-old actor who starred in the beloved ’90s film, shared a selfie on Instagram posing with a teenager wearing a T-shirt with the entire cast on it.
However, the teen clearly chose the shirt for the sake of fashion and not to pay homage to the movie as she had no idea who Faison was.
“#Clueless for real for real…she was like who are you and why do you want this picture? #MovieOlderThanYou,” Faison captioned the hilarious shot.

There’s no magical spell to convince Melissa Joan Hart’s kids to watch Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
“I tried!” she tells Et. “They're so not into it. I think it's because it [stars] me. I'm like, 'But, guys, there's a talking cat!' They're into this show, The Thundermans, and they have a talking bunny. I'm like, 'Guys, if you like this show, you'll love Sabrina.' But then, I can't really watch it. I tried. It's, like, my childhood, but it's hard. I don't know. It's weird.”
Et caught up with the actress and her Sabrina co-stars backstage at Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con, where they reunited for the first time in nearly 15 years. While Hart can’t convince her three sons -- 11-year-old Mason, 9-year-old Braydon and 5-year-old Tucker-- to watch her now-classic series, some of her castmate’s kids are super into it.

Director Angie Wang decided that the story of her youthful days as a struggling college student turned into a drug dealer was perfect for the big screen.
Wang took initiative to direct and to write the narrative film Cardinal X based on actual events from her life.
The film follows a college girl back in 1984, who struggled with college payments. She turned to making ecstasy in the chemistry labs and organized a drug dealing network in night clubs. Eventually, the fast-paced, high-life all came crashing down.
The film stars Annie Q, Francesca Eastwood, Elisa Donovan, Noah Segan, Henry Zaga, Yetide Badaki, Pierson Fode and Aalyrah Caldwell.
Lrm had an opportunity to speak with Angie Wang for Cardinal X at the press day event at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
We managed to talk about on what was real and fictionalized for the film, her previous life and putting it all on screen today.

Twenty-two years ago, Cher Horowitz, the posh teenager at the center of the film Clueless, gave an excellent metaphor in support of letting refugees into America. Her quotes from the classroom-set scene became popular with the protesters opposing Trump's executive order that bans refugees and citizens of seven Muslim countries.
During an in-class debate, Mr. Hall (played by Wallace Shawn) poses a question to Cher (Alicia Silverstone) and her classmate Amber (Elisa Donovan). "Should all oppressed people be allowed refuge in America?" he asks of his students, noting that Cher would take the pro position.

We love Clueless more than is probably acceptable, so when we heard that director Amy Heckerling is working on a jukebox musical we got seriously excited (and even started breaking in our purple clogs in preparation).
But one big question remains - who's going to be in the production? After all, Heckerling admitted that casting would be the biggest issue, so we started thinking about who could step into the iconic roles of Cher, Josh, Tai, Elton et al. Below are some of our suggestions, but let us know who you think should get involved.
Cher (Alicia Silverstone) - Kiernan Shipka
Admittedly, our first thought for Cher was Taylor Swift, because she's our first thought for most things. But actually, wouldn't Kiernan Shipka be ace as Cher? She's proved that she has serious acting chops thanks to her stint in Mad Men, but we'd like her to show off her...

The long-rumoured Clueless musical has been confirmed.
The original film's director Amy Hecklering told Entertainment Tonight that casting would be the main challenge for the production.
"I've written what they call the book, and it's a jukebox musical," Hecklering said.
"Well, casting - that's, like, going to be like the main problem."
Last July, Heckerling revealed that popstar Katy Perry had expressed an interest in playing the lead role of Cher.
Cher was played by Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 film, and was supported by Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Paul Rudd, Dan Hedaya, Elisa Donovan, Justin Walker, Donald Faison and Breckin Meyer.
A TV spinoff ran for three seasons on ABC from 1996 to 1999.
Rock of Ages director Kristin Hanggi will direct the play and Dodger Theatricals (Jersey Boys) is producing.
Hecklering has not confirmed what songs will be in the Clueless musical.

Bangs have been a thing since time immemorial (didn’t Ludvig von Beethoven have them?). Their popularity is no mystery! Bangs serve so many purposes. They can mask a super-big forehead, a weird hairline, or unplucked brows. They’re versatile, and can work with every hair texture. And in the ’80s, they even managed to defy gravity. Remember the teased-and-sprayed Croissant Bang? Classic.
Bangs have always been awesome, but it wasn’t until the mid-’50s that they experienced a makeover that reverberated through the culture something fierce. Frequently topless pinup girl Bettie Page debuted a microscopic little fringe on her forehead — and the look was so cute, it sent scores of bobbysoxers searching for scissors. Several decades later, in the retro-mad ’90s, the trend resurfaced when supermodels like Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista resuscitated the look — and it lasted until the early aughts.

The Clueless gang is back together - and looking better than ever. At an La Film Festival outdoor screening of the cult classic on Tuesday, stars Alicia Silverstone (Cher Horowitz), Stacey Dash (Dionne Davenport), and Elisa Donovan (Amber Mariens) reunited for a Q&A alongside creator/director Amy Heckerling. In addition to posing for photos together that took us right back to the '90s, they raved about all the fun they had on set. "I thought I was channeling Marilyn Monroe and Lucille Ball, and obviously that wasn't the case," Alicia joked at the event. "But I just felt like that! Especially when I pushed [Elton] off [of me at a house party]. Those were the things that I found lovely." Though Alicia recently told Popsugar that she doesn't think they'll make another movie, now that we've seen the gang back together, we want one even more.

The cast and crew of Clueless reunited for a special screening on Tuesday (May 6).
Alicia Silverstone appeared alongside co-stars Stacey Dash and Elisa Donovan at the event, which was held as part of this year's Los Angeles Film Festival.
They were joined by the 1995 film's director Amy Heckerling, costume designer Mona May and producer Stephanie Allain.
Silverstone played Cher in the comedy, which reimagined Jane Austen's Emma in modern-day Beverly Hills. Dash starred as Cher's best friend Dionne, while Donovan played her rival Amber.
Male stars Paul Rudd and Breckin Meyer were absent from the event, but previously took part in a 2012 reunion for Entertainment Weekly.

I hope you’re watching ABC Family‘s Melissa & Joey, and if you are, you’ve got a treat in store for you tonight as the show welcomes two cool guest stars. It’s a Sabrina, the Teenage Witch and Blossom reunion with both Elisa Donovan and David Lascher joining Melissa Joan Hart in fun guest spots.
The pair have an interesting, oft-intersecting career path. Just to refresh your memory, both were on the Clueless television series, both were on Blossom, Beverly Hills, 90210, and Sabrina.
Elisa Donovan has recently been on The Lake, in a slew of The Dog Who… movies, and was on the really awesome webseries, In Gayle We Trust, which she actually mentioned during the interview.
Lascher will always be Ted from Hey Dude! to many, but hasn’t done a lot of acting post Sabrina.
