- He formed a nightclub partnership with Huntz Hall in 1950 that resulted in the breakup of both men's marriages. Gabe's wife, Barbara, and Mrs. Hall jointly divorced them on 14 May 1953, citing the act as an alienating factor.

- It was incorrectly reported in a Topps Boba Fett magazine that Dell provided the voice of Boba Fett in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980). Lucasfilm eventually corrected the item, confirming that it was actor Jason Wingreen who did the voice for the film, and speculated that the confusion resulted from the fact that Dell most likely provided the voice of Boba Fett for the animated segment of The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), but that no record of what voice the actor actually did supply could be found.
