Exclusive: Matthew Modine has thrown his hat into the ring as a candidate for president of SAG-AFTRA. Modine, a member of the union’s local and national boards of directors, is running at the top of the Membership First ticket, the self-styled progressive wing of the union that promises more democracy and transparency — which the union’s loyal opposition says is in short supply. He seeks to unseat Gabrielle Carteris, who’s been president of the union since 2016.
“As a current national and local board member of SAG-aftra, it would be my honor to represent all 160,000 members of the union I have proudly been a member of for nearly four decades,” he said in a statement. “It is my privilege to stand up for our legacy in order to safeguard our future. It’s hard to believe that, nearly 23 years after we met him, Shawn Hunter is swapping “I do”s with the love of his life on Friday’s Girl Meets World (Disney Channel, 8:30/7:30c). Heck, even his bride-to-be is struggling to wrap her head around the momentous occasion.

Shortly after John Davis graduated from Harvard Business School, he faced a dilemma: whether to join one of his mentors, cable TV pioneer Bill Daniels, in a regional sports cable network; get a Ph.D. and teach at business school; or follow his dad, Marvin, to Hollywood. It was 1981, and Marvin — a larger-than-life, Denver-based oilman — had just leveraged $50 million of his own money to buy 20th Century Fox for $722 million.

Chicago – The many sides of the mega film legend Marilyn Monroe was like a prism in an ever-changing kaleidoscope. Yet somehow actor and playwright Amber Hargroder was able to capture Monroe’s essence in a one woman show.
..and illuminate the heartache of the world’s best known sex symbol, destined to be alone. This weekend only, Juniper Productions presents “Marilyn Monroe, Whoever You Are” at the Den Theater in Chicago.
Play Rating: 5.0/5.0
The journey of Norma Jeane Mortensen – the name on Monroe’s birth certificate – from 13 foster homes to number one sex symbol, is one of triumph for the overcoming of those early life odds, and tragedy for the karma that had to be endured to get there. One of her quotes, never attributed, was “everyone wants to go to bed with Marilyn Monroe, but no one wants to wake up with Norma Jeane.” And in a sense, that...

The cast of the hit 90s show "Boy Meets World" grew up together, so it's no surprise that the actors still keep in touch.
The show ran from 1993 to 2000, and news that Disney is making a sequel series, "Girl Meets World," on which Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel will reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence, has everyone excited.
We're pumped to see what Disney does with the spinoff, and we're slightly giddy after witnessing the show's original cast tweeting at each other. Rider Strong, who played Shawn Hunter and hasn't signed on to the new series, gave the Internet the gift of live tweeting the cast's reunion -- complete with plenty of references to the show.
In a series of tweets he wrote:
"Cooking for dinner w/ @BenSavage @daniellefishel & #WillFriedle Before you tweet at me, let me preemptively answer some of your questions...I am wearing pants.

So…when Girl Meets World, will Tgif'ers get to see any memorable Boy Meets World stars return? Don't get us wrong, we are delighted Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are back, but what about Rider Strong or Bill Daniels? Will there be a reunion of sorts? So many questions! Lucky for us Ben just spilled a few details about what's to come on the Disney reboot: "We're going to wait and see what happens," Ben told Rolling Stone about returning characters. "Obviously, I don't want to give away too many details. But there's definitely been discussions about some of everyone's favorite characters popping up in the show and making appearances." The show is set...

Save for some bit roles in a smattering of unremarkable TV shows, the world hasn't heard much from Ben Savage since 2000. That's when his reign as Cory Matthews, the lovable goofball lead on the seminal Nineties sitcom Boy Meets World, came to an end. But last week, with one tweet, Savage returned to our lives: "I'm going to be a father!" the 32-year-old wrote. "Well, on TV at least. The 'Boy Meets World' sequel is officially happening!"

The official news of the "Boy Meets World" sequel series coming to Disney next year still has us elated -- but we're pretty bummed to hear that there are no concrete plans for Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong) to appear.
Strong took to his official site on Wednesday to finally comment on "Girl Meets World," and while he's supportive of the idea and open to revisiting Shawn, he has no official involvement. "Boy Meets World was a defining aspect of my life, and I cherish those seven years. It was never just a job -- on a personal level, many of my best memories and friendships were formed because of it," Strong writes.
He continues, "I am extremely happy for Ben and Danielle to be able to continue the story. At this point, I have no official involvement in Girl Meets World. There might be a chance to see some of...

If you’re like myself, then you grew up on ABC’s T.G.I.F. block of shows. I mean, who didn’t love Family Matters, Step by Step, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Hangin' With Mr. Cooper and of course Boy Meets World?!
News broke yesterday that both Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel would be reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga. Now Fishel has even written a very heartfelt letter to all the adoring fans who grew up on this show. You can read it in its entirety below, but she mainly touches on what we can expect from the new show and how it will be different.
She says that she has no idea who else from the original show will return. With William Daniels (better known as Mr. Feeny) still acting, most recently seen on a stint in Grey’s Anatomy these past weeks, one would think he would return.

Topanga Lawrence herself assures fans they can anticipate 'familiar faces' on the new series. Danielle Fishel has remained fairly silent on the topic of Girl Meets World, but now that she and Ben Savage have officially signed on to star on the Boy Meets World sequel series, she's got a lot to get off her chest — including what long-time fans can expect from the new Disney Channel series. "I do not know how many BMW cast members will be returning for Gmw, or how often they may appear if and/or when they do appear," she writes in a new Tumblr post. "I am going to do my best to not speak for others ... but because I have known Michael Jacobs, Ben Savage, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, and Bill Daniels for 19 years, I know we share many of the same feelings regarding the 7 wonderful years we spent making BMW. ... Topanga talks!
Shortly after TVLine revealed that Danielle Fishel — along with her longtime co-star Ben Savage — had officially signed on for Disney Channel’s buzzy pilot Girl Meets World, the actress used her Tumblr page to share some insight (and scoop?) on the prospective Boy Meets World sequel series.
“Gmw is a new show” for a new generation, but with “familiar faces, familiar themes, and familiar messages” to its predecessor, Fishel explained. “It will also have new faces, new themes and new messages,” she noted.

It appears that all systems are go on the "Boy Meets World" sequel series, titled "Girl Meets World." The two key actors, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel, are in place to reprise their roles as Cory and Topanga. The original series' creator, Michael Jacobs, is once again at the helm. Disney is preparing to shoot a pilot episode this February, dependent only on the casting of the lead character, Cory and Topanga's daughter, Riley. And, judging by fan response, barring some kind of disaster with the pilot -- it's looking to be a sure thing to be picked up by the network.
Many fans of "Boy Meets World," which aired from 1993-2000 and spanned the characters' lives from middle school into their college years, had doubts when they heard about the new show. It's difficult to live up to such a nostalgic memory, particularly one that's still fresh thanks to regular reruns on ABC Family.

Harrison Ford wore jeans at his wedding to Calista Flockhart. The "Indiana Jones" actor shunned designer clothes and dressed down in a pair of denim Wrangler pants for the nuptials, which took place last week.
Calista didn't object to her groom's laid back style choice and donned a simple white sundress for the outdoor ceremony. Friends of the couple insist the no-frills wedding is a sign of their commitment to each other.
Bernie Pollack, a close friend of Harrison, told People, "They're both honest in their approach to life and to each other. This [marriage] will only enhance what they already had."
Harrison, 67, and Calista, 45, tied the knot at the Santa Fe mansion of New Mexico's state governor Bill Richardson, who presided over the ceremony with the assistance of the state's Chief Justice, Charles W. Daniels.
