Franco D'Achiardi(1900-1980)
- Composer
Some forty years after his death, forgotten maestro D'Achiardi suddenly received some praise from the highest source. In one of his last interviews Ennio Morricone discussed his own early career at the Rome film studios where he performed trumpet. The three composers Morricone found particularly memorable were D'Achiardi, Enzo Masetti and Angelo Francesco Lavagnino. This interview can be seen in Ennio (2021).
Franco D'Achiardi (1900-1980) had a similar style to Masetti and assisted his senior colleague on Malìa (1946). After a fifteen year career he quit the Rome studios in 1955, although he also scored short films, notably Nasce un trottatore (A Trotter is Born), a ten minute documentary on show horses directed by Vittorio Carpignano in 1955.
The various performing right societies list D'Achiardi's variant names as Francesco Achiardi, Francesco Alberto D'Achiardi and Francesco D'Acchiardi. He also composed under the pseudonym "Millerose."
