Combining Irish music, charisma, and a ghost's unfinished business made it feel like Fall.
Many ghosts have unfinished business. It's a well-known trope in murder mysteries, and Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Murder in G Major expanded on it with detailed characters and picturesque Irish charm.
I was as captivated by the Irish scenery and music as I was trying to solve the mystery, and I love murder mysteries.
Tamera Mowry-Housley was delightful as the lead character, a former orchestra conductor Gethsemane Brown. She's easily charmed by Ireland and the tales surrounding Orla and Eamon's deaths, but she insists that ghosts don't bother her.
She tries to blow off her first encounter with the ghost Eamon McCarthy as a coincidence or a hallucination because if she actually saw him, there might be something wrong with her. Her dad saw visions, and they all pretended he didn't.
The film never covered any of Gethsemane's other family,...

"This bloody moon better make me bloody rich." Wild Card Distribution has debuted a full-length, official UK trailer for the indie comedy Extra Ordinary, from directors Mike Ahern & Enda Loughman. The film premiered at the SXSW Film Festival this year, but most importantly just won Best Film at the Galway Film Festival in Ireland this weekend. The film is about a sweet, lonely woman in rural Ireland with supernatural abilities, but hates using her "talents" and mostly just stays home. But when a washed up one-hit-wonder rock star makes a pact with the devil, and puts a spell on a local teenager, Rose must overcome her fears and save the day with her own supernatural talents. Maeve Higgins (seen on "Inside Amy Schumer" & "Moone Boy") stars as Rose, joined by Barry Ward, Will Forte, Claudia O'Doherty, Terri Chandler, Jamie Beamish, Emma Coleman, and Risteard Cooper. "The truth is - ghosts are around us all the time." Epic Pictures Group has debuted the first teaser trailer for an Irish indie comedy titled Extra Ordinary, which just premiered at the SXSW Film Festival earlier this month. The story is about a sweet, lonely woman in rural Ireland with supernatural abilities, but hates using her "talents" and mostly just stays home. But when a washed up one-hit-wonder rock star makes a pact with the devil, and puts a spell on a local teenager, Rose must overcome her fears and save the day with her own supernatural talents. Maeve Higgins (seen on "Inside Amy Schumer" & "Moone Boy") stars as Rose, with Barry Ward, Will Forte, Claudia O'Doherty, Terri Chandler, Jamie Beamish, Emma Coleman, and Risteard Cooper. This looks like an amusing new horror comedy in the same vein as What We Do in the Shadows, with ghosts who don't do much scaring,...

A first feature for the writing-directing duo of Mike Ahern and Enda Loughman, whose prior work has encompassed shorts, music videos, and commercials, “Extra Ordinary” is a kind of tea-cosy “Ghostbusters” that’s consistently funny in a pleasingly off-kilter way. The presence of Will Forte as villain should help this Irish comedy (co-produced with Belgium) find North American berths, and its idiosyncratic appeal will find pockets of cult fandom elsewhere outside the U.K.
Comedienne Maeve Higgins brings a distinctive frank-yet-flaky personality not far from her standup work to heroine Rose Dooley, a wallflowerish 30-something who makes her small-town living as a driving instructor. She was once destined for other, greater things, however: Her famous spiritualist father Vincent used or perhaps exploited her own psychic gifts when she was a child, until an accident involving a “haunted pothole” put an end to both his life and her supernatural vocation. Her...

April will see TG4 air a new six part office-based comedy series based in a State Irish language organisation. The series chronicles the strange world of Act (An Chomhairle Teanga), an Irish language organisation that seems to be following policies that are quite unusual. 'An Crisis' follows the downward spiral of Act and its current director Setanta De Paor played by Risteárd Cooper (Aprés Match). Setanta is the guardian of the Irish language but is about to grapple with fate in the form of cutbacks in Government spending, media scrutiny of very questionable projects that have been previously sanctioned and a new Minister who has some scores to settle with him from their schoolboy days together. Other scandals arise from Act's proposal for an unusual method to increase the ratio of Irish speakers, trips abroad of dubious benefit and a strange choice in film-funding.
