Dolly Parton and Lily Tomlin have a friendship that goes way back — all the way back to the set of the 1980 comedy 9 to 5. The movie, which featured Parton and Tomlin, along with co-star Jane Fonda, became a cult classic, with fans responding well to the obvious camaraderie between the women. Over the decades since the release of 9 to 5, Parton and Tomlin have been open about their affinity for each other, with fans remaining hopeful that they might eventually reunite for another project. Those fans very nearly got their chance in the early 2000s, when Disney planned on reuniting Parton and Tomlin, along with an all-star voice cast, for an animated film that never debuted.

After telling a lush love story with “Call Me by Your Name,” filmmaker Luca Guadagnino combines that sensibility with his more horror-leaning style from “Suspiria” in his new film “Bones and All,” which tackles the uncomfortable theme of cannibalism. Written by David Kajganich, the R-rated feature film contains sexual content, bloody violent content and brief graphic nudity. The two-plus hour runtime chronicles a story between two young people who take a journey of self discovery together — and who are also cannibals.
Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell star in this story of young love between people ostracized by society. The mix of horror and romance combine to tell a haunting tale of guts, gore and glory.
Fans of Timothée Chalamet may be wondering how to watch “Bones and All.” All your questions answered below.

Warning: this post contains spoilers from the 2020 theatrical version of “Mulan”
The live-action version of “Mulan” premiered last Friday on Disney+.
The remake, which stars Liu Yifei as the titular heroine, differs quite a bit from the 1998 animated version. But a special cameo in the 2020 version ties the two films together. Read ahead for spoilers.
Towards the end of the film, after Mulan has rescued the emperor (a bearded Jet Li) from the hands of warlord Bori Khan (Jason Scott Lee), there is a grand scene in the palace.
There’s a reverse shot of a woman in elaborate robes making her way to the throne. Viewers are led to believe that the woman is Mulan.
It *is* Mulan, albeit the actress who voiced her in the 1998 animated film: Ming-Na Wen.
Wen, who is billed as the “esteemed guest” in the credits, makes an introduction and then steps aside to reveal Liu’s Mulan.

Ming-Na Wen, the original voice of Mulan, radiated on the red carpet as she celebrated the premiere of Disney’s live-action remake 22 years after the beloved film’s debut release.
The Chinese-American actress, 56, who voiced Mulan in the 1998 classic, looked nearly identical more than two decades later as she passed the torch over to the new cast of the Disney remake. After celebrating the premiere, Wen posted a side-by-side Instagram of her original look from the 1998 Mulan premiere next to her look from the 2020 red carpet — and fans piled on the praise in the comments section.

Disney is looking to once again bring honor to the story of Mulan. The second trailer for the film, directed by Niki Caro, was released this morning and further teased a significant reimaging of the classic 1998 animated film directed by Tony Bancroft and Barry Cook. Disney has been re-exploring its animated properties with increased fervor of late. This year alone saw remakes of Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, The Lady and the Tramp, and the sequel, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which works in context of Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. As Cinderella becomes Disney's latest live action box office hit, the studio is planning a new take on Mulan...
Just a very quick update here. We've heard no more on this version of Mulan since we first reported it in March 2015. But there is now a competing project at Sony...
Right. If we're following this correctly, then Disney is currently working on live action takes on Beauty And The Beast, The Jungle Book, Dumbo (with Tim Burton apparently attached to direct) and a new Alice In Wonderland movie. Throw in the Cruella de Vil film too that's somewhere in development, and that's at least five live action movies it's got on the go, that have a grounding in one of its animated films.
Actually, make that six.

Earlier today, Disney announced the line-up for the next couple of Star Wars films, including the release date for "Star Wars: Episode VIII." What they didn't announce was what the title of said episode would be. Have no fear! Creating puns so groan-worthy that even dad jokes would blush is the Internet’s speciality. It took approximately 12 parsecs for Twitter to inundate the world with more terribly hilarious movie titles than you can shake a womp rat at. ★★☆☆☆Branded after the hugely successful six-part BBC documentary series which aired back in the late 1990s, Walking with Dinosaurs - The Movie (2013) is a live action/CGI hybrid from co-directors Neil Nightingale and Barry Cook, and is released this week on DVD and Blu-ray. It's without doubt technically impressive, featuring some of the most visually lifelike dinosaurs since Jurassic Park (1993). And yet it's botched spectacularly by a paper-thin script and some laughably silly voiceover work from actors as Justin Long and John Leguizamo (of Ice Age fame). We follow the story of the adorably named Patchi (Long), born at the end of the Cretaceous period as the runt of a Pachyrhinosaurus litter.

Chicago – “Walking with Dinosaurs” depicts the magnificent titular creatures in stunning realism and 3D vision, and then proceeds to give them line readings with the equivalent sophistication of Archie comics. This adds up to an educational film with a long, dull journey ahead.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
This is geared towards the kiddies, with a flight of fancy that becomes teeth-gnashingly stupid for their adult companions. Its heart is in the right place, as an annoying bird guides the audience through the Cretaceous Era by properly naming all of the species, yet the idea that the production had to “entertain” its young audience with a silly Dino-Shakespearian fight for power – softened for the youthful sensibility – just wasn’t compelling. The kid fidget factor, unless the moppet is a junior scientist, might top out at eleven.

Roughly a year ago we were treated to an enticing teaser trailer for Barry Cook and Neil Nightingale’s Walking with Dinosaurs 3D; a spin-off from the popular BBC television series. The trailer gave off the impression we’d be in for a mature, grown-up nature documentary of sorts, with a David Attenborough style of narration playing over the top. However regrettably Walking with Dinosaurs offers no such thing, instead adding needless human voices to the dinosaurs and having them interact through speech, as this potentially exhilarating tale has become far too child-friendly, suffering greatly a result.
Narrated by Alex (John Leguizamo), an Alexornis bird, we delve into the life of Patchi (Justin Long), a young Pachyrinosaurus, who gets separated from his family and has to venture through the wild and dangerous dinosaur kingdom, hoping to one day emulate his father, the Alpha male of their herd, who dies courageously in battle.

Steven Spielberg can rest easy. Walking with Dinosaurs is no match for the muscle of the Jurassic Park franchise (the fourth due out in 2015), but that isn't a comment on the effects - which are stunning. It's the lack of a compelling story that means it's a bit of a trudge at times; more like a live museum experience than a fully developed film.
Given that 'The 3D Movie' is based on the BBC documentary series Walking with Dinosaurs the educational slant isn't surprising. Actually, it's quite refreshing to see animation that reflects the real world - or at least a recognisable version of it - where the dinos blend seamlessly against epic real-life Alaskan backdrops (as well as some New Zealand locations).
There is a good deal of Disneyfication though.

Sub-vaudeville 1950s sitcom humor and a horrifically dated message about boys as heroes and girls as the heroes’ property. You know, for kids! I’m “biast” (pro): love dinosaurs
I’m “biast” (con): tired of movies that think they can get away with being idiotic because they’re “for kids”
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
I shall very slightly paraphrase the famed chaotician Ian Malcolm — who has had some experience with the terrible lizards — to explain Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie:
Now this is one big pile of shit.
It shouldn’t be. Screenwriter John Collee has written good, smart stuff for kids — Happy Feet — and adults: Creation and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Codirector Barry Cook also codirected Arthur Christmas, which is sheer joy, and his directing partner Neil Nightingale has produced a ton of beautiful nature...

Walking With Dinosaurs and the forces behind Tim Hill, Justin Long, John Leguizamo, Skyler Stone. Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze
Sunday morning, invited by Twentieth Century Fox films to the red carpet at Cinema 1, 2, 3, on Manhattan's Upper East Side, I walked with dinosaur lovers big and small to celebrate the premiere screening of Walking With Dinosaurs (directed by Barry Cook and Neil Nightingale with Tim Hill as Executive Producer). Three longtime dinosaur aficionados, John Leguizamo, Justin Long and Skyler Stone, who give their voices to the photorealistic prehistoric 3-D adventurers, told me about their very first dino-encounters.
Produced by BBC Earth, the animated feature using the latest technology takes us back 70 million years. We follow the fate of Patchi, a Pachyrhinosaurus with a whistling hole in his ear and a great deal of courage, voiced by Justin Long, as his herd migrates through what is now Alaska. Together with his older brother...

Update: John Leguizamo may becoming something of a dinosaur expert. In Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Leguizamo's character Sid "adopts" dino eggs and the baby dinos that hatch to the wrath of their real dino mom. Now, Leguizamo will voice Alex, an "Alexomis bird." (Anyone ever heard of an Alexomis dinosaur?) Also joining the cast is Justin Long (pictured right, he voices Alvin in the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies) as Patchi, a Pachyrhinosaurus. Tiya Sircar (The Internship, Hotel for Dogs) voices Juniper and Skylar Stone ("Max & Luther") voices Scowler, who round out the Pachyrhinosaurus trio.

Due out just in time for Christmas, Fox’s Walking with Dinosaurs: The 3D Movie will be taking audiences back millennia to a world in which dinosaurs walked and ruled our little planet.

Tinseltown’s love of all things prehistoric continues to romp forward. Twenty years since Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park advanced cinema technology and brought the terrifying creatures to the big screen, we still can’t get enough as this latest domestic trailer for Walking With Dinosaurs 3D is here to keep audiences poised for further dinosauric action.
Following on from last month’s international trailer, Fox have crafted a new preview for U.S. audiences. Adding on a voiceover appears to be an attempt to make the film more palatable. It spoon feeds the film to viewers. Fair play to Fox. They’re keen to capture a youthful audience who force their parents to watch all four Ice Age movies incessantly on repeat.
Walking With Dinosaurs 3D comes from director Barry Cook. He helmed Arthur Christmas and Mulan. This time he joins up with Neil Nightingale to share directing duties.

At the beginning of the month, an international trailer for the animated Walking with Dinosaurs 3D debuted, previewing the chronicles of two young dinosaurs as they grow up, hoping to follow in their father's footsteps, and become respected creatures of the prehistoric wild. While that first look made the film seem like a nature documentary with a narrative (and no talking animals), this one takes a more family friendly approach with some cheesy voiceover and some mainstream music to get the kids interested, but the grounded story and visuals could make this worth a trip to the theater for the whole family. We've got a new trailer for a dinosaur movie coming our way called Walking With Dinosaurs. The story for the 3D animated film is told without dialogue and limited narrative. I'm not really interested in the film, but my kids love dinosaurs, so of course they want to see it. I think they'll be disappointed when it's not as good as Jurassic Park.
The movie was directed by Barry Cook (Arthur Christmas, Mulan) and Neil Nightingale, and the story follows two brothers looking to follow in their father's footsteps, which leads to a showdown with dinosaurs in the Arctic North.

What started as an arena show is now coming to the big screen in 20th Century Fox's Walking with Dinosaurs 3D. In what feels like a hybrid narrative and documentary feature with breathtaking visuals, the film chronicles the lives of two young dinosaurs as they grow up, hoping to follow in their father's footsteps, and become respected creatures of the prehistoric wild. These dinosaurs don't talk, but it's clear there's some cutesy kind of humor and liberties taken with the dinosaurs. And while the animation isn't terrible, it doesn't always look like it's top notch work. Still, this could be cool to see in theaters. Watch! I'm a little confused by this first trailer for Fox's Walking with Dinosaurs considering the synopsis suggests humans are involved and there isn't a human to be seen over the course of the trailer's two-minute duration. The synopsis says the story centers on two brothers wanting to follow in there fathers footsteps, which leads to a showdown with dinosaurs in the Arctic North. So, uh, where are the two brothers? There is a second-half to the synopsis that says "an underdog dino triumphs to become a hero for the ages," which would seem to be more accurate based on what we see here so I don't know what to tell you. Of course, perhaps all we're getting here is a look at the dinosaur effects and more is to come down the pike, but it does make it hard to tell you what it's about when the trailer makes it...
