The India Media Centre, University of Westminster, in association with the London Indian Film Festival, is organizing an international conference “What’s New? The Changing Face of Indian Cinema: Contemporary and Historical Contexts”.
The conference will take place on 8th and 9th of July at Cayley Theatre, Marylebone Campus, University of Westminster, 35 Marylebone Road, London NW1.
Papers are invited that explore any aspect of the current and historical challenges to the mainstream form of Indian cinema and its hegemony over the popular cinematic imagination of India and the South Asian diaspora. Papers may deal with film-making in any language and of any era or region. They can include the textual, industrial, commercial and reception contexts of films that subvert the mainstream, and/or the critical contexts within which they have been debated.

Oscar® nominees gather day before for symposiumGreg Cannom won the 2009 Academy Award® for Achievement in Makeup for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. This was Cannom.s ninth Academy Award® nomination, and he previously won for Mrs. Doubtfire (1994, with Ve Neill and Yolanda Toussieng) and Dracula (1993, with Michèle Burke and Matthew Mungle). During the Feb. 22 broadcast, he thanked the film.s cast; his agent, Helen Cohen; the movie studios and the city of New Orleans, where much of the film was shot. .I share this with Colleen Callaghan, who should be up here with me,. Cannom said in his acceptance speech.
