FX’s Fargo season five episode eight, the season’s penultimate episode, is one of the series’ finest hours of storytelling. It opens with Ole Munch (Sam Spruell) punishing Gator (Joe Keery) for his innumerable acts of cruelty, topped off by the murder of Ole’s elderly mother.
Gator tries to bribe Ole into letting him go, but Ole doesn’t care one iota about promises of women, weapons, or cash. Tied to a chair, Gator can only whimper and beg as he realizes Ole’s about to take a red-hot knife to his eyes. An eye for an eye, correct? “This for that,” says Ole, adding, “What is taken must be given.”
Over at the Tillman Ranch, Dot (Juno Temple) is back in the game after a brief moment of despair at the end of episode seven.

Fargo is finally back for another season after taking a three year long break. Created by Noah Hawley, the FX’s anthology black comedy–crime drama series is based on a 1996 film of the same name and it revolves around a new set of characters in Minnesota and North Dakota in the fall of 2019. Fargo Season 5 revolves around Dorothy “Dot” Lyon, who at first glance seems to be a typical midwestern wife but when her mysterious past comes back to haunt her she gets in trouble with the law, specifically North Dakota Sheriff Roy Tillman.

“Welcome to Marwen” is, in a word, indescribable. But not in a good way.
Robert Zemeckis, who directed “Forrest Gump,” one of the most iconic underdog movies of all time, returns with another male protagonist with a remarkable story. But this time the filmmaker doesn’t quite seem to connect with his subject, which makes for an even greater disconnect with the audience.
Gaining empathy for a protagonist such as the one in “Marwen” shouldn’t really be an issue, though. This is, after all, the real-life story of Mark Hogancamp (played by Steve Carell), who was beaten so terribly by five men outside a bar in 2000 that it left him without most of his memory of the event and everything before then — horrific details that were previously revisited in the acclaimed 2010 documentary, “Marwencol.”

Writer-director Andrew Niccol has made a career out of depicting tech-enhanced dystopias, whether it’s his 1997 debut Gattaca (genetic engineering), his script for The Truman Show (reality TV taken to extremes) or 2002′s S1m0ne, which now seems weirdly prescient in its anxiety over digitally augmented reality. His latest film, sci-fi murder mystery Anon, finds Niccol on familiar ground when it comes to tech-based paranoia, but the plot falls short in comparison to the imaginative world building.
Set in an all-too-believable future, the film stars Clive Owen as world-weary detective Sal Frieland, whose job has been rendered ridiculously easy because all crimes are almost instantly solvable, thanks to an implant called the eye that uploads every citizen...

Last year, the second season of Defiance was way down in the ratings. How will the series perform in season three -- will the numbers get better or fall lower? Will this Syfy series be cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Stay tuned.
Defiance takes place in the year 2047 -- some 30 years after various alien races arrived on Earth. The town of Defiance (what used to be St. Louis) stands as an example of how humans and aliens can live harmoniously (mostly) together. The cast includes Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Jaime Murray, Tony Curran, Graham Greene, Jesse Rath, Trenna Keating, Anna Hopkins, Nicole Munoz, Lee Tergesen, Conrad Coates, and Nichole Galicia.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will...

Defiance returns for season 3 with an arresting two-part opener, but will it continue to improve on season 2's uninspiring arc?
This review contains spoilers.
3.1 The World We Seize & 3.2 The Last Unicorns
For this TV reviewer, Defiance is very much like a favourite meal that’s been made with the odd ingredient that I really don’t care for. For as much as I like the predominant flavour, picking through the contents impairs the overall culinary experience.
Parts of season 2 certainly left a slightly bad taste in the mouth. While many characters and situations were set up as being massively threatening, such as Pottinger and E-Rep, none delivered even a tenth of their hyped potential. It also suffered from an inclination to try to weave a worlds-collide epic narrative with mostly rather ordinary characters, even if some of them are well formed.
If those behind Defiance consider that their inspiration is largely the Western,...

It is, as Grant Bowler aptly puts it, “a Defiance sandwich” in Season 3, as the beleaguered titular town finds itself caught between two new, lethal foes — one of which wastes no time in thinning the herd.
As the Syfy drama’s new season opens Friday at 8/7c (with a two-hour premiere), TVLine welcomed the opportunity to discuss with the Kiwi actor all that lies ahead, including Irisa’s status as a pulp novel pin-up, Nolan’s big (but welcome!) setback and the several shocking sendoffs.

Though Kristin Cavallari shot to fame by starring in MTV's 2004 reality show Laguna Beach, it turns out she doesn't look back on those times with the fondest of memories.
In a candid new interview for Oprah Winfrey's show Oprah: Where Are They Now?, she calls out MTV producers for manipulating her love life for the sake of TV drama.
"You know, Laguna Beach was tough because I felt very used and manipulated," she says bluntly. "Basically, my boyfriend at the time [Stephen Colletti] -- producers would have him go and take out Lauren Conrad -- take her to dinner, bring her flowers, which never would have happened if it wasn’t for the show, for MTV."

Chicago – Every great film is a delicate balance of a number of critical elements. Good films lack in one department while mediocre films have serious gaps that stick out like a red dress at a funeral. The overall mediocre “Tron: Legacy” is exceedingly fixated on its impressive visual effects while neglecting to focus on creating an evocative and humanized story.
Rating: 3.0/5.0
Despite its big-budget use of special effects, you aren’t emotionally connected to its characters or plot. Following the ahead-of-its-time 1982 film “Tron” with Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner, Bridges reprises his roles in 2010’s “Tron: Legacy” with the duality of both Kevin Flynn and Clu. Boxleitner also returns as both Alan Bradley and Tron.
Perhaps surprisingly for some, “Tron: Legacy” is less about the actual character that is Tron and is much more focused on Jeff Bridges’ characters along with his son, Sam Flynn (played by Garrett Hedlund). And...
