“Hesitation Wound” and “Hollywoodgate” were named winners at the Zurich Film Festival, as the 19th edition of the Swiss festival came to a close.
Selman Nacar’s drama “Hesitation Wound” impressed the Feature Film Competition jury.
“Moral issues are a frequent underlying theme in many films, but the dilemma facing the main character in this film is really strongly felt here,” argued the jury, which comprised president Anton Corbijn, Finola Dwyer, Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, Juho Kuosmanen and Bryce Nielsen.
Praising “wonderful” Tülin Özen, cast as a lawyer struggling at home and at work – “a woman forever on the verge of either breakthrough or breakdown,” wrote Variety – they added: “It’s a film that stayed with the majority of the jury throughout the festival and even though it was a fight with two other contenders, it became our favorite. Selman Nacar, thank you so much for this delicious film.”

Deauville American Film Festival will forge ahead with its honorary tributes to stars such as Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Peter Dinklage and Joseph Gordon-Levitt despite the fact that they won’t be in attendance due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
The festival’s artistic director, Bruno Barde, told Variety ahead of the event’s press conference on Thursday that he empathized with actors and writers who are on strike to “protect themselves against the dangers of artificial intelligence.”
“AI has always existed in cinema and it’s now posing a threat to screenwriters, set designers, dubbers and, of course, to actors whom we’re using the image of. Cinema is an art that elevates humankind, and artificial intelligence does the exact opposite. It’s a danger,” Barde said.
And while he stands in solidarity with the strike, he has opted “to maintain all the tributes which will pay homage to careers...

Here’s the downside to having an Oscar shortlist: Completely sidelining great contenders so early in the season.
One oversight by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Music branch this year was the “sexy and dangerous” original score, as the pic’s composer Isabella Summers puts it, of Netflix’s feature take on D.H. Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover.
And, yes, per Summers, Florence and the Machine is still together. As the British musician-turned-composer explains today on Crew Call, she was coming off a tour and got the chance to supply a song to indie pic Assassination Nation.
From there she was encouraged to make her foray into scoring, first working with Mark Isham on the Hulu limited series Little Fires Everywhere, on which they notched an Emmy nom for original dramatic limited series score. Lady Chatterley’s Lover is the first of four film scores by Summers to be unveiled.

There's nothing like a "Top 10 Movies of the Year" list to make me realize just how deeply cursed the United Kingdom is when it comes to movie distribution.
"Tár"? I don't know her, and won't get the chance until midway through January. "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On"? Sounds cute! I look forward to checking it out in February, seven months after the United States release. "Pearl"? It would be faster to import the U.S. Blu-ray than to wait for the UK theatrical release in March of 2023. "On the Count of Three"? There's seemingly no intention of releasing Jerrod Carmichael's feature directorial debut over here at all. Somehow, and I don't know how, Brexit is to blame for this.
Fortunately, every now and then, a movie does manage to make the journey across the Atlantic to bless our humble screens. This year brought some true gems from the U.

In the past five years, 43 features have earned Academy Award nominations for best picture, and with those dozens of films, thematic throughlines have emerged that offer a sense of what kinds of films voters favor for the top prize.
Historical films have earned the most nominations, exemplified by Green Book winning the award in 2018. While crowd-pleasing blockbusters have also earned best picture nods in recent years (contrary to the perennial criticism that the Oscars are out of touch with what the average filmgoer is consuming), none has won the category.
And while biopics often earn acting trophies for those films’ stars, they are not necessarily the sorts of films Oscar voters select as their favorite of the year.

Staying true to the D.H. Lawrence classic, theater actor Matthew Duckett, who has cerebral palsy, made his feature film debut with “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” — the first disabled actor to play the part of Clifford on a Netflix production. The film started to stream Dec. 2 on the platform.
“I’ve been in a great many productions where I’ve been allowed to live in my disability, which has been incredibly freeing as an actor,” Duckett said, describing the differing approaches to how productions address the accessibility needs of their actors. “But something I was really grateful to see happen was to have someone on-set dedicated to my needs as a disabled artist and to the honesty of the production of a disabled character.”
Netflix enlisted help of C Talent, a talent management company led by and catered to the disability community, specifically hiring lead disability and access consultant Dan Edge to...

This review originally ran September 2, 2022, in conjunction with the film’s world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival.
Because we are acutely aware of the un-bliss and infidelity to come, the starry-eyed wedding vows at the start of the latest “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” — premiering at the 2022 Telluride Film Festival — seem both aching and mischievous to us. Happily ever after? Not so fast.
But they certainly mean something sacred to Lady Constance Chatterley, played spiritedly by Emma Corrin (Princess Diana of “The Crown”) in a performance of feathery grace. With her young head in the clouds and heart fluttering with romance, completely unaware of the type of tale she’s leading, you can see in her glowingly lit face that she means every blissful word of her matrimonial pledge to Lord Clifford (Matthew Duckett), a square nobleman soon to be shipped back to the Great War. Her exuberance is matched only by Isabella Summers’ light-headed,...

Plot: Based on the classic D.H. Lawrence novel, a story well ahead of its time, we follow the life of Lady Chatterley, a woman born to a life of wealth and privilege, who soon finds herself married to a man that she eventually falls out of love with. Lady Chatterley engages in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate, discovering more desire and intimacy than she thought possible. When she realizes that she has fallen heart and soul, she breaks all traditions of the day and seeks happiness with the man she loves.
Review: Whether you have read it or not, the reputation of Lady Chatterley’s Lover casts a huge shadow over the annals of literature. Written by D.H. Lawrence, Lady Chatterley’s Lover has been a commonly banned book due to its explicit sexual content, including some of the first uses of profane language in popular fiction.

Lady Chatterley’s Lover is a 2022 drama movie directed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre starring Emma Corrin and Jack O’Connell. Another adaptation of the novel written by D.H. Lawrence.
The erotic awakening of a dissatisfied woman, in this well-known story that has been adapted with exquisite photographic flair.
Premise
Lady Chatterley, disenchanted in her marriage, despite leading a life of wealth and privilege, gets involved in a torrid affair with a gamekeeper on their English estate. The passion she discovers and level of intimacy is beyond what she ever imagined.
Lady Chatterley’s Lover (2022) Movie Review
The provocative story by D.H. Lawrence that gave so much to talk about and became a revelation in its era. Beyond the literary analysis – and keeping in mind that it is not the first erotic novel in history (to be read the irony), it did have substance and was wonderfully written.

Can a film with an entire scene of full-frontal frolicking in the rain still feel polite? Yes, as it turns out. Lady Chatterley’s Lover is the god tier in sexy literary classics, but the sexiest thing in Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s Netflix adaptation are the shots of the English countryside. That surely doesn’t feel right.
Emma Corrin plays posh, yearning Constance Chatterley; Jack O’Connell is Mellors, the gruff gamekeeper who catches her eye after her husband, the upper-class Sir Clifford, is maimed in battle. I so wanted to love this film. A literary period drama? Sexual tension across the class divide? The shadow of war? Wonderful actors? It must be nearly Christmas. But instead of crackling with electricity, it just hums like an energy-efficient light bulb.
Dh Lawrence’s now infamous 1928 novel is about the human spirit recovering from a cataclysmic war. “Ours is essentially a tragic age,...

Romantic and sexy, the latest adaptation of D.H Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover has Emma Corrin (The Crown) as the titular Lady and Jack O’Connell (Unbroken) as the Lady’s working-class lover, Oliver Mellors. Lawrence’s work, controversial in its time, has been adapted countless times over. Thanks to the sizzling chemistry between Corrin and O’Connell, director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre’s version is one of the best.
Screenwriter David Magee’s adaptation of Lawrence’s classic novel arrives on Netflix in 2022 as a luscious bodice ripper and rebuke of society’s expectations and restrictions within well-defined classes.

A film about unbridled passion should be covered in just that, unbridled passion. I'm talking casting, production design, direction, score, the works. I want to feel swept up in the magic of the love being born on screen, and in order to really feel taken on a wild ride by a romantic period drama, all of those elements really need to be in play. Netflix's "Lady Chatterley's Lover" encompasses all of these key components and brings us a feverishly brilliant adaptation of a classic novel that has had its merit debated the world over. In this version of the story, everything is urgent and love is contagious. One taste is all it takes. Led fiercely by Emma Corrin and Jack O'Connell, "Lady Chatterley's Lover" is a self-assured, strong parable about the power we beg love to have over us, and it packs the biggest punch of any romance this year.

When she meets and falls for Oliver Mellors, the gamekeeper on the Chatterley family estate, their secret trysts lead her to a sensual, sexual awakening. Emma Corrin and Jack O’Connell carry this idealistic, moving French version of Dh Lawrence’s transgressive novel
Here is a movie that could so easily collapse into self-satire, especially at the first sneery-knowing intonation of the word “milady”, a phrase probably now most associated with Parker from Thunderbirds. But the commitment and passion of its two lead performers, Emma Corrin and Jack O’Connell, carries this new version of Dh Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley’s Lover, and the actor turned director Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre finds the keynote of idealism. The film is never shy of eroticism and full-on sex, if sometimes going for a slightly quaint soft-focus approach. But Clermont-Tonnerre is never in any doubt that this is a love story. The last adaptation of any note was from another French film-maker, Pascale Ferran’s flawed Lady Chatterley (based on an earlier version of the book). Perhaps it takes a...

Some people may be slow to go to cinemas as the pandemic eases, but here in Los Angeles, they’re certainly not sluggish to head to awards season events, and Netflix took over the old Amoeba Records space on Sunset Blvd Monday (aka The Lighthouse Artspace) for their very swanky, in-person concert Playlist event which touted a lineup of platinum composers and music supervisors working on their projects.
Not only did the event serve as a music sampling of Q4 Netflix series and movies, but it also doubled as an awards season preview for voters as well. The trailer for Netflix's upcoming film adaptation of the literary classic, "Lady Chatterley's Lover," is here, and like the controversial D.H. Lawrence novel from which it's adapted, things get a little hot and heavy in it. There's more than one pair of bared buttocks, and you may or may not glimpse an "unhappily married aristocrat" straddle the "gamekeeper on her husband's country estate," as Netflix describes the couple.
"Lady Chatterley's Lover" stars Emma Corrin, who was nominated for an Emmy for their portrayal of Princess Diana in season 4 of "The Crown." Jack O'Connell co-stars and the movie is helmed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, who was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for her 2019 directorial debut "The Mustang." Netflix and Sony 3000 Pictures unveiled the first trailer for the forthcoming film adaptation “Lady Chatterley’s Lover,” based on the classic novel about a neglected woman whose affair with her husband’s gamekeeper sparks a sexual awakening.
Fans of the D.H. Lawrence novel’s steamier sections won’t be disappointed: plenty of bodice-ripping, bare buttocks and rain-soaked embraces are to be found as Lady Constance “Connie” Chatterley (Emma Corrin) and Oliver (Jack O’Connell) pursue a forbidden romance.
The blue-hued clip starts off with a flashback to Connie and Clifford Chatterley’s wedding day, their austere expressions saying it all. “I’m not really a part of this world,” Connie confesses during a montage of lonely days at the estate.

The blue-hued clip starts off with a flashback to Connie and Clifford Chatterley’s wedding day, their austere expressions saying it all. “I’m not really a part of this world,” Connie confesses during a montage of lonely days at the estate.

"I didn't say you were gentle. I've had enough of gentleman…" Netflix has revealed the first official trailer for Lady Chatterley's Lover, a sensual and erotic new film from French filmmaker Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre following her debut The Mustang in 2019. This one premiered at the Telluride Film Festival a few months ago, and also recently played at the London Film Festival this fall, with a theatrical release planned at the end of November before it's streaming on Netflix. Connie, born into wealth & privilege, finds herself married to a man she no longer loves. When she meets Oliver, the estate's gamekeeper, their secret trysts lead her to a sexual awakening. Emma Corrin is courting scandal in the Netflix adaptation of the controversial novel “Lady Chatterley’s Lover.”
“The Crown” alum stars as the titular Lady Connie Chatterley, who embarks on an affair with gamekeeper Mellors (Jack O’Connell) while her ailing husband, Sir Clifford (Matthew Duckett), grows suspicious. Joely Richardson also stars as Sir Clifford Chatterley’s nurse. The film premieres in select theaters November 25 and will be streaming on Netflix December 2.
Based on D. H. Lawrence’s novel of the same name, the film is helmed by Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre (“The Mustang”) and adapted for the screen by David Magee (“Life of Pi”). The novel was previously at the center of a history-making obscenity trial. The film was produced for Netflix by Sony’s 3000 Pictures.
“When I reread the novel, I thought it could have been written today,” director de Clermont-Tonnerre told Vogue. “It’s scary that not that much has changed since the ’20s.

Antonin Baudry, who made his feature debut with Netflix’s submarine thriller “The Wolf’s Call,” is set to adapt Homer’s epic war tales of “The Iliad and The Odyssey” into a science fiction series titled “Ulysse.”
Pathé has recently boarded the series project, which is being co-developed by Axelle Boucai (The Mad’s Women Ball”) and Alain Goldman at Paris-based Ness Films.
“Antonin Baudry is writing the adaptation and had the idea of transposing these mythological tales in space and in the future,” said Boucai, who cited “Dune” as inspiration.
The producer said the series will follow the fantasy-filled adventures of Ulysse through the 10-year Trojan Wars and beyond. “Ulysse” will also involve mythological characters from “The Iliad and the Odyssey,” such as Achilles, Helen, Hector and Penelope. Homer is known as one of the greatest of the ancient Greek epic poets in the Western classical tradition.
