- (1985) Michael Cartel wrote "Disguise of Sanity," Toluca Lake: Pepperbox Books. ISBN 0-96146225-0-7 (LC 85-60605), a book-length nonfiction that addressed the rise in serial murder. The cover and pages of Cartel's book appear in the made-for-TV, Body of Evidence (1988)_, and the cover contracted for the feature "Virtuosity" (1995)_.

- TV commercial for Ivory Soap Liquid - Actor - Michael Cartel landed one of three male acting spots for a commercial and job print from a cattle-call audition of some 2,000 teenage actors at the Screen Gems Burbank ranch (filmed at nearby Griffith Park). One of the other winning actors was 19-year old Tim Matheson.
- (January 1988 - July 1997) Adjudicated Newspaper, "The Valley Vantage," Superior Court Decree No. SFC 858 - Editor and owner - Along with his wife Mari Cartel, Michael Cartel ran a community newspaper for 10 years, featuring celebrity interviews and outrageous Mad Magazine-style satire. Aside from the popular lampooning, the weekly was honored (in 1988) by the L.A. City Council and Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley "for its outstanding community service," and "encouraging public awareness and action on matters of serious social implication." The Cartels finally realized a considerable profit when they sold their publication at the end of the tabloid era. Just in time.
- (1975) TV commercial production for Ad-Vantage Marketing Corporation, based in Pasadena, California. Along with filmmaker Gary Troy, Mike Cartel produced 16mm direct-sale television commercials for a national venture marketing concern. Cartel scripted, acted and wore six crew hats while Troy did all the rest.
- (1967) Michael Cartel (sometimes co-wrote and) performed in original one act plays at Carl Monson's Curtain Call Theater on Lankershim Boulevard, that assisted the beginning of the NoHo Arts District in North Hollywood, California.
