Vanessa Kirby has amassed an impressively starry ensemble cast for the first feature out of the gates for Aluna Entertainment, the production company she established in 2021 with former Film4 exec Lauren Dark.
“Night Always Comes,” which Oscar nominee Kirby will lead, is set to star Jennifer Jason Leigh, Zack Gottsagen (“The Peanut Butter Falcon”), Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), Julia Fox (“Uncut Gems”), Eli Roth, Randall Park and Michael Kelly.
Shooting is now underway in Portland on the thriller, which is based on the 2021 novel by Willy Vlautin. Benjamin Caron directs from a script by Sarah Conradt (“Mother’s Instinct”).
As per the logline, “Night Always Comes” follows Lynette, a woman who risks everything to secure a future for herself and her brother by setting out on a dangerous odyssey in Portland, in doing so confronting her own dark past over one propulsive night.

Director Paul King does not qualify his newest movie as a traditional film production. Nor does he credit it as a Paul King “picture,” “joint,” or otherwise effort of industry. Instead, during the opening titles of Wonka, the movie is simply described as “a Paul King confection.” It’s a cute flourish for a movie about the most famous chocolate maker in cinema. It also proves surprisingly, and joyously, apt; for Wonka is indeed the sweetest thing you are likely to experience at a movie theater this holiday season. More impressive still, it doesn’t feel like teeth or brain rot either.
To be sure, in its best moments, Wonka is a pure sugar rush. It leaps and bounds alongside its characters as they dance across the surfaces of a nighttime sea; it also ascends as they do by way of a handful of balloons, floating ever upward toward a...

Amid Bruce Willis’ decline in health, his wife Emma Heming Willis is making sure their children remain happy and are in good spirits.
Through a couple of snapshots on her Instagram stories, Emma can be having fun with her daughters, Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn Willis.
The first photo shows Emma, dressed as Waldo hugging one of her daughters, who is dressed as a mystical fairy.
Another photo sees Emma smile in a series of photos with her other daughter, who is dressed as a pirate.
Bruce, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (Ftd) earlier this year, has Emma as his primary caregiver.
Despite being vocal about awareness of Ftd, Emma has posted only occasionally about her husband, preferring to give him privacy as he deals with the disease.
Glenn Caron, a close friend of Bruce, did give an update on his dementia in mid-October.

After a protracted process securing the music rights for streaming, Moonlighting is finally lighting up television screens again, newly remastered and available on Hulu. The five-season series aired on ABC between 1985 and 1989 and starred Cybill Shepherd as Maddie Hayes, a former model-turned-business owner, and Bruce Willis as David Addison Jr., the detective with whom she starts a private-eye business. Creator Glenn Gordon Caron told TV Insider this month that William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew inspired the show. “I thought, if you could catch the funny, sort of violent, sort of passionate, nonetheless heartfelt — you’re looking at these two people, [who] hate each other [and] are made for each other, the contradictions,” Caron said. “If you could figure out a way to do that in a modern setting, that would be wildly entertaining. That’s really what Moonlighting is or at least ...

Neiman Marcus welcomed Schiaparelli’s creative director, Daniel Roseberry, to Los Angeles with Demi Moore and her daughter, Scout Willis, among the well-wishers.
Both wearing Schiaparelli, Moore and Scout looked beautiful for the welcome party.
Moore wore a white suit with black swirls and Scout donned an all-black outfit with gold buttons.
Scout, 32, is the second daughter of Moore and action star Bruce Willis. In addition to Scout, they also share Rumer, 35, and Tallulah, 29.
Though Moore and Willis are no longer together and have moved on with different people, they have remained close, as Moore continues to support Willis amid his dementia diagnosis.
Willis retired from acting in March 2022 after he was diagnosed with aphasia. A year later, his family announced that it had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.
Today, he is “incommunicative,” as Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron told the New York Post.

“Moonlighting” was more than a watercooler show. It was an obsession. Episodes were taped and rewatched. And for good reason. There had never been a anything on the small screen like the 1985-89 ABC romantic screwball comedy detective series. The rapid-fire dialogue recalled such Howard Hawks’ classics as 1938’s ‘Bringing Up Baby” and 1940’ “His Girl Friday.” Fourth walls were broken. There was a black-and-white episode and even and wild and crazy take on William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew.” That was just the tip of the innovations.
Creator and executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron told me in a 2000 L.A. Times interview that ABC didn’t give him total freedom when it came to the episodes: “The truth is no one let me do everything. I just did it. Ignorance is bliss. There were rules and I chose not to listen to anybody. At a certain point, the network said- ‘This is working.

Moonlighting is finally available for streaming, and creator Glenn Gordon Caron knows that star Bruce Willis — who starred opposite Cybill Shepherd on the ‘80s-era ABC dramedy — is “really happy” about that. “When I got to spend time with him, we talked about it, and I know he’s excited,” Caron told the New York Post. “I know it means a lot to him.” Caron, who said he visits Willis every month or so, offered an update on the actor’s battle with frontotemporal dementia — a neurological condition that can cause unusual behaviors, emotional problems, and difficulty communicating and walking, according to the National Institute on Aging. “I have tried very hard to stay in his life. He’s an extraordinary person,” Caron said. “The thing that makes [his disease] so mind-blowing is [that] if you’ve ever spent time with Bruce Willis, there is no one who had any more joie de vivre than he.

As fans of Bruce Willis, we all hope for the best as he and his family go through their trying time as the actor lives with frontotemporal dementia. Unfortunately, not everything will offer a glimmer of uplifting news. With his breakout series Moonlighting now streaming on Hulu, creator Glenn Gordon Caron has provided an update based on recent visits.
Speaking with New York Post, Caron noted that his time with Bruce Willis as of late has been difficult as he sees how much has been taken from the actor. “My sense is the first one to three minutes he knows who I am…He’s not totally verbal; he used to be a voracious reader — he didn’t want anyone to know that — and he’s not reading now. All those language skills are no longer available to him, and yet he’s still Bruce…When you’re with him...

“Moonlighting” creator Glenn Gordon Caron shared excitement for the classic 1980s rom-com detective series finally being available on streaming, but also that star Bruce Willis, 68, has continued to see his condition worsen. Moonlighting creator Glenn Gordon Caron has spoken to Bruce Willis about the ’80s hit dramedy, which is making its streaming debut on Hulu.
He shared a health update on Willis, who played detective David Addison opposite Cybill Shepherd’s Maddie Hayes, who owned the Blue Moon Detective Agency.
Willis, 68, has frontotemporal dementia and retired from acting in 2022.
“The process [to get Moonlighting on streaming] has taken quite a while and Bruce’s disease is a progressive disease, so I was able to communicate with him, before the disease rendered him as incommunicative as he is now, about hoping to get the show back in front of people,” Caron told the New York Post. “I know he’s really happy that the show is going to be available for people, even though he can’t tell me that. When I got to spend time with him, we talked about it and I know he’s excited.

With “Moonlighting” now available on streaming for the first time thanks to Hulu, series creator Glenn Gordon Caron spoke to the New York Post and confirmed he was able to tell series star Bruce Willis about the show’s streaming resurgence amid the actor’s ongoing frontotemporal dementia (Ftp) diagnosis. “Moonlighting,” the Emmy-nominated ABC dramedy that ran for five seasons and 67 episodes in the late-1980s, served as Willis’ acting breakthrough. He plays a wisecracking detective who teams up with a former fashion model (Cybill Shepherd) to solve crimes after she finds herself broke and left with a detective agency as her only asset.

(Welcome to Did They Get It Right?, a series where we look at an Oscars category from yesteryear and examine whether the Academy's winner stands the test of time.)
Every year, one or several films racks up an impressive haul of nominations. 14 is currently the record, shared amongst "All About Eve," "La La Land," and "Titanic," but routinely, you'll see eight, nine, or double-digit nominations for movies. This past year, "Everything Everywhere All at Once" had 11, while "All Quiet on the Western Front" and "The Banshees of Inisherin" managed nine apiece.
Most of the time, however, the Academy likes to spread the wealth. Take last year's movies. Even with "Everything Everywhere" doing abnormally well, it only won seven of those 11. "All Quiet" just won four, and "Banshees" went home empty-handed. A nomination domination does not necessarily set you up to do a massive clean sweep of the Oscars. Even "Titanic,...

A number of recent releases have flown under the radar due to the hustle and bustle of Oscar season, and Benjamin Caron’s Sharper is among those titles that warrants your attention.
Released last month on Apple TV+, Caron’s feature directorial debut stars Julianne Moore and Sebastian Stan, as well as John Lithgow, Justice Smith and Briana Middleton. And while it’s best to go into the thriller completely blind, it chronicles a New York City-based confidence game that affects a number of interconnected characters. The story’s underbelly hit somewhat close to home for the filmmaker as he was able to draw on experiences from his childhood in the Midlands of England.
Because the film is most rewarding without the foreknowledge of con artists being involved, Caron was rather protective of the film’s marketing campaign. In fact, he even suggested a trailer that would include misdirection in the form of a rom-com.

Variety has selected its list of 10 Brits to Watch for 2023, an honor the publication has been bestowing since 2013 on artists across all entertainment media. Past honorees include Harry Styles, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jodie Turner-Smith.
The honorees will be profiled in the Feb. 8 issue of Variety and feted at the seventh annual Newport Beach Film Festival U.K. Honors, to be held at the Londoner Hotel in London.
“With film and television production roaring in the U.K., the royals constantly garnering international chatter and the search for a new James Bond heating up, there’s another fact of U.K. entertainment life that shouldn’t be overlooked: the U.K. new-creatives well is fairly overflowing,” said Steven Gaydos, Variety‘s senior VP of global content and executive editor. “Always a dynamic source of exciting fresh voices, one look at Variety’s 2023 10 Brits to Watch proves that Britannia remains a vital center of artistic regeneration.

Julianne Moore and Sebastian Stan are targeting a family of billionaires in the latest A24 and Apple TV+ film.
For “Sharper,” Oscar winner Moore plays a seductive single mother who sets her sights on an outrageously wealthy businessman (John Lithgow), while her disgraced son (Stan) works his own angle to win a fortune. Justice Smith and Briana Middleton also star as crucial pieces of Stan and Moore’s plan to raid the rich.
Emmy-winning “The Crown” filmmaker Benjamin Caron directs the neo-noir thriller. Per the official synopsis, no one is who they seem in New York City’s bedrooms, barrooms, and boardrooms. Characters compete for riches and power in a high-stakes game of ambition, greed, lust, and jealousy.
Director Caron told People that the film is “inspired by a long line of great films that love to keep audiences guessing up until the end, including ‘The Usual Suspects,’ ‘House of Games,...

Maddie and Addison, back again?
A cryptic tweet from writer/producer Glenn Gordon Caron suggests we’re either about to get a reboot of Moonlighting or someone is about to land the reruns from the ’80s drama that starred Cybill Shepherd and Bruce Willis.
Caron, who created the drama for ABC back in the day, teased a big announcement with Disney for Wednesday. Rumors about a potential Moonlighting reboot have circulated periodically over the past several years but Disney sources indicate that currently there is no reboot idea developed enough for an announcement. A modern-day series about a pair of sexy private eyes would presumably be for Hulu or Disney+.
Getting the existing seasons of Moonlighting on streaming has faced challenges that have been insurmountable to date, so solving those issues would be huge for fans of the show.
Disney and I have put our heads together and come up
with a plan.
