A trailer for the Stranger Things stage play promises fans will not only get to return to The Upside Down soon, but might also get some clues into what’s ahead in season five.
The minute-long trailer for Stranger Things: The First Shadow was posted to the show’s social media Wednesday, and featured a series of clips presented on a static-y analog TV. “The beginning of the Stranger Things story might hold the key to what is next…” the trailer teases. Beyond images of the popular Netflix series’ cast and scenes from seasons past, eight buttons, a clock with spiders spilling out and a red-lit stage are also featured.
The trailer marks the second look at the show — expected to open later this year on the West End at the Phoenix Theatre — following a shorter, but just as cryptic, teaser in March. The show was initially announced in July 2022, with Trefry,...

You know what they say about Broadway: If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.
Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to be adapting a musical loosely inspired by Martin Scorsese’s beloved 1977 movie musical “New York, New York” for Broadway, set for a March 2023 release. The official opening night will be in April 2023, and Tony winner Susan Stroman will direct and choreograph the musical.
The Scorsese film starred Liza Minnelli as a lounge singer who falls for a saxophonist, played by Robert De Niro. Their romance gives way to their respective ambitions and dreams of music stardom against the backdrop of the Big Apple in the 1940s.
However, the same characters will not be appearing in the new iteration. Deadline reported the Broadway production will “feature little of Scorsese’s storyline” from the film. Yet the setting remains the same: post-war 1946 in Manhattan as the city recovers.

Musical theater invented the triple threat, and the trifecta of acting, singing, and dancing has created many a Broadway star. But shows today are showcasing a wider array of skills, from musicianship to athleticism, and raising the question of whether the actor’s toolbox has expanded.Take the Broadway musical “Once,” which just won eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, and Best Actor in a Musical. Similar to the musicians who starred in the original film, lead actors Steve Kazee and Cristin Milioti play their own instruments, as does the supporting cast, which often create a symphonic swell around the central love story.“We were interested in finding vivid, unique actors who just so happened to also be accomplished musicians,” said Jim Carnahan, the casting director for “Once.” “I think we are seeing more actor/musician driven musicals these days. Given the influx of these types of projects it’s.

There’s been a lot of shuffling happening on Broadway in the post-Tonys week, when many shows un-loved by the awards must leave the Great White Way.However, it doesn’t look like “Once” will be departing the Bernard Jacobs Theatre anytime soon. After the musical, which started at the New York Musical Theater Workshop in the fall, had its best week ever at the box office, landing in the top 10 grossing shows for the first time, it went on to lead the Tony winners with eight total, including Best Musical and Best Actor. A national tour has been announced, and according to producers, more stops could be added to the tour. The casting directors for the Broadway production is Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel. After winning Best Play on Sunday, Bruce Norris’ “Clybourne Park” extended its limited run for a second time and is now set to close at the Walter.

Anyone who recalls Bryan Cranston as doofus dad Hal on the Fox comedy "Malcolm in the Middle" knows the man is committed to his craft. Standing around in tighty-whiteys while Hal's wife shaves his back hair, speedwalking in a skintight bodysuit and aerodynamic helmet, and showcasing dazzling choreography in "Dance Dance Revolution," Cranston solidified himself as one of TV's top comedians with his go-for-broke, vanity-free performance. Yet even Cranston's biggest fans couldn't have been prepared for his complex, gut-wrenching turn on AMC's "Breaking Bad" as Walter White, high school science teacher, loving husband and father, and Albuquerque's top methamphetamine producer. "Breaking Bad" was created by Vince Gilligan and features precisely the perfect blend of taut drama and clever satire one would expect from a former writer and producer of "The X-Files."
