- Chanel Capra was born and raised in New York City. When she was 13, her brother Francis Capra was cast in A Bronx Tale (1993) and her family became involved in the film industry. - After graduating a full scholarship screenwriting program, Chanel also studied animation at the Animation Academy. In 1999, Chanel Capra won the Playboy Film Festival for Best Animated Short, her final semester project, Bad Grlz, was acclaimed for its strong female driven characters and physical empowerment. Chanel continued to work as an independent ghostwriter for numerous studios and high profile literary agencies. In 2002 to 2007 Chanel Capra wrote and produced Nora's Hairsalon 1, 2 and 3, starring Jennifer Lewis, Tatiyana Ali and Lil' Kim. In 2005 Chanel Capra and Chazz Palimenteri reunited for her first feature film, In The Mix starring Usher Raymond and Emmanuel Chriqui. In The Mix was one of Lions Gates widest theatrical release over Thanksgiving weekend. Chanel wrote and produced the feature based on her parents love story. Chanel continued to write and produce and work in film and television while advocating for Autism through visual story books. In 2011 Chanel produced and co-directed a musical short for rapper Lil Mama and singer Mashon. Chanel established Bella Mafia Entertainment, a development company specializing in the development of film, television, music and social media branding. In 2020 Chanel appeared on Netflix' competition reality show, The Circle Season 3 with her sister, model/musician/actress Ava Capra.
