Season 1 of “Homecoming” is still the gold standard for podcast-to-tv adaptations. Next week, people involved on both sides of that process will try to capture the magic in audio form.
Below, you can listen to the trailer for the latest Spotify and Gimlet drama, “The Final Chapters of Richard Brown Winters,” starring Catherine Keener, Parker Posey, Bobby Cannavale, Sam Waterston, and Darrell Britt-Gibson. Written by “Homecoming” co-creator Eli Horowitz and “Sandra” writer Kevin Moffett, the new series not only shifts its gaze to a fictional author, it trades in an episodic structure for a feature-length audio tale.
The story follows a young fan (Britt-Gibson) on a quest to confront reclusive writer Richard Brown Winters (Waterston) about why he’s disappeared from the public eye for a decade. When he and a group of fellow enthusiasts travel to Winters’ desert home to extract the truth and push him to finish the...

(Above) Two-time Tony winner Norbert Leo Butz performs at McC Theater's annual Miscast Gala at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Some of Broadway’s most luminous stars stepped out to support McC Theater at its 2017 edition of the annual Miscast Gala on April 3. The event, held inside New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, did as it does each year: allow stars of the stage to perform songs from roles in which they’d never be cast. The event this year had an added significance, as it also marked McC Theater’s 30th anniversary. The driving forces behind the theater company—artistic directors Robert LuPone, Bernie Telsey, and William Cantler along with executive director Blake West—were on hand to introduce the event. Additionally, the team later revealed that, through the ceremony alone, over $1 million had been raised towards McC’s programming. Among these programs is McC’s Youth Company, which bestowed its 2017 alumni award upon Xavier Galva,...

Oscar winner and frequent stage star Marisa Tomei was honored by the Off-Broadway theater company that gave her some of her first professional gigs. Tomei was introduced by executive director Blake West and artistic directors Bernard Telsey, Robert LuPone, and William Cantler, who all stood by her side as she accepted the honor. “Everything I learned—all my work ethic for theater, my process—was with you guys,” said Tomei, recalling her 1987 collaboration with director Jimmy Bohr originating her role in Alan Bowne’s “Beirut.” She thanked the theater’s founders...
