Dillon Carmichael, the Kentucky singer-songwriter with a deep outlaw-country voice, highlights his more lighthearted side on the new song “99 Problems (Fish Ain’t One).” A cheeky fishing tune in the tradition of Brad Paisley’s “I’m Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin’ Song)” and Craig Campbell’s “Fish,” it announces Carmichael’s upcoming five-song Ep I Do for You. Carmichael says the project includes more high-energy songs than ballads.
“I’m so excited for I Do for You to come out. It’s been a long time coming. This Ep...

When Chris Lane recorded his first LP, Girl Problems, he and producer Joey Moi decided to double down on the skill that they believed could help the North Carolinian stand out in the crowd: his ability to slip easily into falsetto, a technique that rarely makes its way into the country catalog. Well, easy to sing in the studio, anyway. Hitting those high notes nonstop on tour proved to be a different story.

If you’ve ever listened to country music on the radio, you’ve no doubt heard of Bobby Bones — the infectious deejay whose morning radio show garners a cool three-million plus listeners each day and who Forbes recently dubbed “the most powerful man in country music.” Bones, who grew up in Arkansas and gained radio fame in Texas before moving to Nashville, uses his platform not only to promote undiscovered country music artists, but more importantly, to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
“I grew up without a lot,” Bones tells People backstage before the concert began.

Captain America did his country proud this week. As part of a Uso Holiday Tour with his Avengers co-star Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans visited servicemen and servicewomen stationed in Turkey, Qatar and Afghanistan over the past few days. Ray Allen, Craig Campbell, Maya Dirado, and Jim Karol were also involved in the tour. When Evans and Johansson visited Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan Wednesday, the actors hosted a 20-minute Q&A shortly before Campbell performed his biggest hits. "This is a lot bigger than Turkey!" Evans marveled. As fans cheered, Johansson added, "You guys are rowdy!" "My first Uso tour was in 2008 and it was such an incredibly touching experience," Johansson...

Canada-born Devon-based comedian Craig Campbell’s show is a curious mix. Campbell, like many comedians, begins by interacting with the audience, deliberately picking on late-comers and scouring the audience for people who have come from far and wide to see the show.
Oddly though this interaction continues throughout almost all of the performance, occasionally it manages to launch Campbell into one of his routines, there’s an old bit about being on mushrooms and talking to the police and some tales of going cycling and looking like a fool in front of some cool kids. But it doesn’t quite stitch together with the audience banter and often the show would benefit from a stronger throughline and less interaction.
Having said that, Campbell’s style is very personable, his stories aren’t so much bits of carefully crafted stand-up but rather simple anecdotes about the odd situations he’s wound up.

Spooks, Qi, 8 out of 10 Cats, Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow and a re-run for Reaper. Plus lots of movies too in the week ahead...!
Where do MI5's secret agents hide out when they're not defending the Isles? Why, among comedians, that's where.
We start our weekend off in the style that only Mr Stephen Fry can deliver with a ninth series of Qi. The first of sixteen episodes welcomes Phill Jupitus, Jack Dee, Ross Noble and, of course, Alan Davies to the letter 'H' and the topic of Hodge Podge tonight, Friday, September 17th at 8:30pm on BBC1.
A little later in the evening, Jimmy Carr-hosted 8 Out Of 10 Cats returns to trump Qi with one series better (numerically, that is) in the first of five episodes at 10:00pm on Channel 4. Guests joining regulars Jason Manford and Sean Lock are Dr Christian Jessen, Jamelia, and the Jacks,...
