The journalist was on hand Tuesday night (April 13) in Washington, DC to cut a special globe-shaped cake in honor of the award-winning documentary series' milestone anniversary, and Zap2it was lucky enough to be invited for the fun.
First, guests enjoyed a screening at National Geographic headquarters highlighting the upcoming "Explorer: 25 Years" special that will air Monday, April 19 at 9 p.m. Et/Pt and then joined Ling for champagne toasts, lobster filo triangles, chicken satays and other assorted nibbles.

New citizen Cesar Millan has been reupped for a sixth season on National Geographic channel. The network has been home to "Dog Whisperer" Cesar Millan, where the Friday night ratings and viewership have grown steadily since the show's inception. Millan recently became a citizen of the U.S., and also celebrated the 100th episode of his popular behavioral show for dog owners. National Geographic announced that Cesar Millan was greenlit for 30 more episodes. "Cesar's passion and dedication to the well-being of all dogs is truly inspiring," Ngc executive vice president of content, Steve Burns, said in a press statement. National Geographic Channel's popular "Dog Whisperer" has been renewed for a sixth season.
The Friday night staple starring dog guru Cesar Millan has been granted 30 more episodes, which will roll out sometime later this year.
"Cesar's passion and dedication to the well-being of all dogs is truly inspiring," Ngc executive vp content Steve Burns said. "We could not be more excited about extending this important franchise on our network."
Last week, the Mexico-born Millan became a U.S. citizen. The show celebrated its 100th episode in the fall.
