Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman says she participated in what would become known as the Operation Varsity Blues college admissions scheme because “it felt like I would be a bad mother if I didn’t do it.”
Breaking her silence on the 2019 cheating scandal that led to a 14-day prison sentence for the actor, Huffman said in an exclusive interview with Los Angeles ABC affiliate Kabc, “It was sort of like my daughter’s future, which meant I had to break the law.”
The Kabc interview was featured on Good Morning America today. See the video below.
Huffman was one of the more than 30 parents of college-bound children who paid admissions consultant Rick Singer to, among other things, fraudulently raise Sat scores to better the kids’ chances of getting into top-notch universities. Also caught up in the scheme was actor Lori Loughlin.

One of the titles in the bestselling Arthur children’s book series faces a potential ban after a conservative claimant said that it “damaged souls.”
The Arthur series, penned by US author Marc Brown, tell the stories of a fictional young aardvark Arthur and his family and friends. Of nearly 50 titles in the series – and sales of more than 60million in the US alone – it is Arthur’s Birthday, published in 1989, that has caused consternation.
The Guardian reports that on July 12, Bruce Friedman, a member of the Florida’s Clay County School District community, filed a challenge to the book being available in classrooms because of the storyline: Arthur receiving a birthday present from Francine the monkey of a glass bottle, with the words “Francine’s Spin the Bottle Game” printed on it.
The Daily Beast has published the whole complaint, with the reason for Friedman’s ban request being “to protect children.

Photo: ‘Arthur’: Hey! Arthur This week, ‘Arthur’ closed its 25th and final season to much fanfare and nostalgic tweeting. Many fans noted the fact that grownup Arthur having hair implies that he was bald for the entirety of the show, and of course, the meme of Arthur’s fist made a resurgence. Millions of kids and parents grew up with the iconic aardvark, and the show’s end served to remind us of a small way in which we’re all connected. There is still plenty to look forward to from the residents of Elwood City. In an interview with Variety, ‘Arthur’ author Marc Brown alluded to future plans for the Hey! Arthur franchise including podcasts and games, and episodes of ‘Arthur’ will continue to air on PBS. In the meantime, however, let’s take another moment to appreciate 25 years of ‘Arthur.’ Related article: Oscar-nominated - Exclusive: 'Dune' Full Commentary,...

The students of Lakewood Elementary may be all grown up, but “Arthur” isn’t really ending.
The PBS Kids series, based on Marc Brown’s picture books of the same name, is the longest running animated children’s show in TV history, and on Feb. 21 aired the four episodes that comprise the 25th and final season. But at 75, Brown finds himself invigorated by possibilities that remain for his beloved aardvark, including podcasts, games and more.
Series finale “All Grown Up” looks 20 years into the future to see who Arthur and his animal pals become, an idea that emerged from one of the questions children ask Brown most frequently. Buster ends up a schoolteacher, while Francine presides over a trendy sneaker business and Muffy campaigns to become Elwood City’s newest mayor. D.W. is a traffic cop, Binky is a weatherman and George runs the Sugar Bowl, everyone’s favorite cafe.

Marc Brown’s popular cartoon show “Arthur” wrapped Monday night on PBS. The final episode, titled “All Grown Up,” fills in any questions viewers might have about where their beloved humanoid animal characters are headed in the future.
Set 20 years later, the episode opens on Arthur, the central aardvark, who now has long hair, sitting in a diner and looking content. He has become a graphic novelist, thanks to an instructional drawing book he accidentally took from the library.
Buster the Bunny slides into the diner booth across from Arthur in that first scene, where we learn that he has taken on the profession of teaching, looking very snappy in his outfit.
Muffy embarks on a mayoral campaign, looking to become Elwood’s civic leader while George, who now owns the Sugar Bowl, cheers her on from the sidelines.
Francine now sports a short haircut, and works for a sneakers manufacturer.

It was an emotional kind of day on February 21 as everyone’s favorite aardvark animated series Arthur came to an end after 25 seasons. The PBS show, which debuted in 1996, aired its final episode, ‘All Grown Up,’ on Monday, offering viewers a glimpse of what becomes of the beloved characters who inhabit Elwood City. After introducing a board game that predicts occupations, the episode jumps ahead 20 years in the future, delivering a Six Feet Under-style ending. After accidentally taking an instructional drawing book from the library (from the show’s creator Marc Brown nonetheless!), Arthur winds up becoming a graphic novelist. The scene sees the anthropomorphic aardvark sporting a floppy haircut and some wispy facial hair as he reads the first chapter of his book to his old friends. Original Arthur voice actor Michael Yarmush returned to voice the older version of the character. Meanwhile, Arthur’s best friend, Buster, is working as a teacher,...

Pretty unreal how the long-running PBS animated show, "Arthur," aired its final episode on February 21, 2022, ending its 25-season, 253-episode legacy by bringing character fates full circle. Nearly all residents of Elwood City were allowed to peek into their futures, with the titular Arthur, now sporting facial hair (!) becoming a graphic novelist, which is so heartwarming. Based on a series of books by Marc Brown, "Arthur" has always had a sweet core message at its heart, which was actualized in the season finale, "All Grown Up," wherein each character is allowed a glimpse into the future via a fortune-telling game.

Thanks to Marc Brown, we've learned to work and play and get along with each other. Well, Ok, maybe our parents had something to do with that too, but Brown certainly played a crucial role. The American author created a cultural phenomenon with the conception of Arthur Read, a bespectacled aardvark with a penchant for learning everything life had to offer. Though Arthur was first introduced in the 1976 children's book Arthur's Nose, the character became part of our everyday lives thanks to PBS' TV adaptation of Brown's Arthur Adventure book series. In the beginning, there was a fist: five brown fingers, emerging from a yellow argyle sweater sleeve. Though one cannot see the owner of the fist’s face, nor even his upper body, everything you need to know about his emotional state is telegraphed by the strength of those five fingers, tightly clenched in ire, threatening to unleash the sheer animalistic force contained therein. “Animalistic” is a good word to use here, because the fist belongs not to a man, but to an aardvark: namely, Arthur Read, the bookish, eight-year-old...

Hey! (Hey!) This is not a wonderful kind of day. PBS' animated series Arthur, which is based off the Arthur Adventure books by Marc Brown, is coming to an end after its upcoming 25th season. Executive producer Carol Greenwald confirmed the news to IGN July 27, writing, "In the winter of 2022, the 25th and final season of Arthur will debut." This news is particularly devastating for the millennials here at E! News who grew up enjoying Arthur and the adventures he had with sister D.W., best friend Buster and more. Despite Arthur's impending end, Greenwald assured fans that there's still plenty of content to expect in the future, adding, "Producer GBH and PBS Kids are...

“Arthur,” the iconic animated children’s series about a lovable aardvark, is ending after its 25th season.
The longest-running children’s animated series in the history of American television, “Arthur” will end on PBS Kids, with its final season launching in winter 2022.
Original show developer Kathy Waugh broke the news in an interview on the Finding Dw podcast with voice actor Jason Szwimmer.
“‘Arthur’ is no longer in production. We had our wrap party two years ago,” Waugh told Szwimmer. “I think [PBS] made a mistake, and I think ‘Arthur’ should come back and I’m know I’m not alone in thinking they made a mistake. I don’t know if it was a ratings issue or if it felt like it needed to be retired. To me, it felt evergreen, like it was never going to end but it did end, we finished the last episode [of] Season 25 two years ago.

As Kabc/Channel 7 anchor Marc Brown covers the ongoing protests against police brutality, as well as the unrest that has followed, he’s mindful of not repeating some of ways that local TV did — and didn’t — cover the 1992 Los Angeles uprising.
“In 1992, it became just coverage of looting, coverage of fires,” he told Variety of the events following the Rodney King trial, in which officers were found not guilty in the beating of an African American man, despite video proof of the assault. “The problem between the community and police kind of got glossed over and left behind in the carnage that we were having to report on.”
“I wanted to make sure that as we cover it, that we don’t make the kind of mistakes that were done then. We can’t cover this in a way that it’s just glossing over the root causes of it,...

There comes a point in a household where the tinny sound of guffawing YouTubers leaking from a child’s headphones can be tolerated no more. A point when, after the possibilities of trees, nature, and industrial estate soft plays have been exhausted, it’s time for them, and you, to watch some proper kids’ television.
Below is some of the aforementioned proper kids’ television, all of it currently available to Amazon Prime subscribers.

Just in time for the holidays, it’s Arthur’s Perfect Halloween. Wait, no, it’s Arthur’s Perfect Christmas, how timely! For kids who’ve grown up anytime between the mid to late 90s to now, the cartoon adaptation of Arthur the Aardvark, originally a string of children’s books by Marc Brown, has been a morning and after school mainstay that touches on basic behavioral and educational topics like bullying, doing your homework, lying, and so forth. It’s now been running for 15 seasons and, as you might expect, it produced a holiday special which, just as you might expect from our politically correct times, touches on Christmas, Hanukkah, and even Kwanzaa.

J. Edgar (Warner Bros.) Director Clint Eastwood provides a rock-solid, albeit rather flat portrait of polarizing FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover, covering his life from late teens to his death. Leonardo DiCaprio does an impressive turn as Hoover, never crossing the line into caricature, and creating a Hoover that is all too human, making for an all the more unsettling look at absolute power run amuck. Where the film stumbles is the love story at its core: Hoover’s relationship with longtime aide Clyde Tolson (Armie Hammer). In the hands of an openly-gay director like Gus Van Sant, this could have been a heartbreaking, tender story of forbidden (unrequited?) love, but Eastwood seems to tiptoe around their romance, with far too much delicacy and deference. The film works well when recreating the famous crimes and investigations which Hoover made his name on (the Lindbergh kidnapping,...
