As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Way back in 2001, Jeepers Creepers introduced us to a very effective movie monster who likes nothing more than to harvest and then eat the organs of human beings. The film, starring Justin Long and Gina Philips was hugely popular, and managed to rake in almost $60 million dollars internationally from a reported budget of just $10 million dollars. When you factor in the subsequent profit the film will have made from the various home entertainment revenue streams, you can see why it’s spawned three sequels, to date. The first movie took the horror landscape by surprise, so naturally the first sequel wouldn’t be far away, and before you could say ‘please don’t...

Occasionally, some actors leave the spotlight and almost disappear into oblivion after enjoying years in the spotlight, and that includes the mysterious Jonathan Breck, known for his role in Jeepers Creepers. While his name may no longer be as popular as in the early 2000s, horror genre lovers will quickly recognize his face. Or at least the prosthetics that cover it. With no upcoming film, it’s been over three years since Jonathan Breck starred in a movie. This is not abnormal, as it’s common for some actors to take a break at some point in their careers. Jonathan Breck still identifies...

Now, I, like many, have my views on the writer/director of Jeepers Creepers, and this is, for sure, a controversial release from 101, but as I was sent the film to review, I will do just that. I will merley speak about the movie itself, and lay out a list of the extra features that appear on this release. Let’s get going.
Jeepers Creepers was released back in 2001 and was a successful movie. A road trip creature-feature, this flick was a popular one with many fans when it came out almost twenty years ago. It follows a couple, Patricia (Gina Phillips) and Darry (Justin Long), who are driving home from spring break when they see something dumped in a tunnel. When...

From Jigsaw to Leatherface to Amityville: The Awakening, this Halloween season will soon present horror fans with an embarrassment of riches as theaters across the globe begin hosting all sorts of cinematic ghosts and ghouls.
But if there’s one movie that was quietly shunned by distributors, it’s Jeepers Creepers 3 (for good reason, too, but more on that later). Yes, after years spent languishing on the brink of development, Victor Salva’s threequel faced another uphill battle when many of America’s major theater chains dropped it like a hot potato. Only a small handful of companies stood firm, leading to an exclusive one-night-only screening via Regal Theaters.
Such pent-up demand led to Jeepers Creepers 3 securing a second theatrical showing (October 4th), but other than that, the film’s distribution is about as limited as they come. Leave it to Syfy, then, to step in and secure JC3‘s TV premiere.

*before going into the review, let’s get the obvious out of the way: we at Age of the Nerd would like to take a moment to say we are fully aware of Victor Salva’s criminal history and the moral dilemma that is presented when discussing or financially supporting his movies.
The horror landscape has changed rather drastically in the sixteen years since controversy magnet Victor Salva first introduced slasher-starved audiences to “the Creeper” (Jonathan Breck) and his taste for body parts in the ‘Jeepers Creepers‘ franchise. Since then, there’s been the rise of the torture porn sub-genre and filmmakers like Eli Roth and Rob Zombie, the supernatural found footage genre, an obnoxious onslaught of inferior remakes (fingers shall be pointed specifically at The Wicker Man, When a Stranger Calls and Black Christmas) and a needed return to form thanks to filmmakers like James Wan, David Sandberg and Jennifer Kent.

It’s going on 17 years since the original Jeepers Creepers took flight, when film fans were introduced to an all-new and downright terrifying horror icon in the form of The Creeper.
Initially conceived by series creator Victor Salva, The Creeper is a winged demon that feasts on human flesh every 23rd spring, and thanks to the recent launch of Jeepers Creepers 3, there’s another harvest on the cards. But while reflecting on the breakout success of Salva’s 2001 thriller, Creeper actor Jonathan Breck discussed the franchise’s lasting legacy in an exhaustive interview with IGN.
It’s a legacy that has undoubtedly been tainted by Victor Salva’s dubious past, after the contentious filmmaker served 15 months in state prison for sexual misconduct with a minor. And though his victim, Nathan Forrest Winters, has since issued a candid statement regarding the release of Jeepers Creepers 3, the horror threequel continues...

Stop us if you’ve heard this one. A vaguely demonic creature emerges every 20-something years to terrorize, stalk and ultimately devour residents of a small town before returning to its slumber. Nope, we’re not talking about Pennywise, the freaky killer clown currently rocking the box office in director Andy Muschietti’s It. As horror fans will know, the same modus operandi applies just as equally to the Creeper, the boogeyman that headlined 2001 horror hit Jeepers Creepers and its 2003 sequel. Now, writer/director Victor Salva and actor Jonathan Breck – who donned the hat and trenchcoat as the Creeper in Salva’s previous two entries – aim to resurrect the character once again with Jeepers Creepers 3.
Set between its predecessors, this installment attempts to recontextualize those events while introducing new characters that have been affected by the Creeper’s rampage. While Brandon Smith reprises his role as Sergeant Tubbs from the first film,...

Unlike most other horror threequels, Jeepers Creepers 3 bucks tradition by situating its story between the events of Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2, and though it’s taken an awful long time to take flight, Victor Salva’s nightmarish vision is about to slither onto the silver screen.
But what of the franchise’s future? A Jeepers Creepers 4 has already been pitched before, when it was revealed back in May that Salva had been quietly plotting a new continuation in the Creeper saga. That’s something that series mainstay Jonathan Breck (The Creeper) echoed during an exhaustive interview with IGN, one that touched on everything from make-up and prosthetics to Salva’s criminal record. For the record: Breck is firmly of the belief that the contentious filmmaker deserves a second chance.
As for a potential fourth film, it’s not off the table:
Yeah, if we’re lucky enough to have it happen.

On the one hand, there are those out there who plan to vote with their wallet and forego Jeepers Creepers 3 entirely – hence those threats of protesting late last month – while others are of the belief that Victor Salva deserves a second chance despite his dubious past.

The Creeper appears every twenty-three years. This time, Jeepers Creepers III takes place between the previous two films: Jeepers Creepers (2001) and Jeepers Creepers II (2003). Unbelievably, it has been fourteen years since the first sequel. This time, the Creeper (Jonathan Breck) is attacking an entire town, while a Sergeant (Brandon Smith) tries to end the curse once and for all. On September 26th, the film will have a one day theatrical showing, across the United States. Now, a movie clip is available for the film and it is self-titled "Lift Off." The clip shows more of the Creeper. He pulls up in a familiar van, at night. Meanwhile, police officials are trying to stop his latest massacre. They are outmatched as the Creeper descends from above. The film has received a restricted rating. Jeepers Creepers III has a 100 minute runtime. And, the film will be in theatres, thanks to Screen Medial Films and Fathom Events.

The Creeper is back with a bloody vengeance. A third film in the Jeepers Creepers franchise is coming. On September 26th in select cities the film will be playing up on the big screens, and from early ticket sales it looks as if fans are ready to take a look at what the Creeper has been up to.
The last time fans got a glimpse of the Creeper was all the way back in 2003. Controversial director Victor Salva wrote and directed the film. Jonathan Breck will reprise his role as the Creeper. Gina Phillips will reprise her role as Trish Jenner, from the first film. Phillips will have a cameo in the film.
The plot of the film will follow a disbelieving Sgt. Tubb’s (Brandon Smith ), who set’s up a task force to hunt the Creeper after the events of the first film. Terror ensues as the Creeper fights back.

Jeepers Creepers 3 is a mystery wrapped in a riddle nestled inside a piece of human skin an enigma.
Much of that confusion comes down to the prolonged time gap between the long-brewing horror threequel and its predecessor – Jeepers Creepers 2, for instance, first took flight in 2003 – not to mention the heinous controversy involving franchise creator and director, Victor Salva. In short: the filmmaker was accused of sexual misconduct with a minor almost two decades ago, and served 15 months in state prison.

I'm a big fan of the Jeepers Creepers horror franchise. The first two films were great, and a third has been in development for years. It was supposed to go into production last year, but it ended up being shut down for unknown reasons.

It might have something to do with how much I love Everybody Wants Some, but I’m still thinking about Richard Linklater and his career to date. Yes, I touched on that a bit last week, and previously in 2014 when Boyhood was making its way through the awards season, but I’m not quite done just yet. There’s something about Linklater that has me constantly thinking about and re-evaluating his films. Interestingly enough, his flicks tend to be ones that lend themselves nicely to introspection/retrospection. In doing this, one of the things I’ve actually come up with is that he’s actually yet to make a bad movie, despite having a nearly 20 deep filmography. As such, it made perfect sense to rank his films today, showing you just how varied yet consistent he is as a director. It’s really quite something to behold, at least in my eyes…...

I knew going in to see Richard Linklater’s new film Everbody Wants Some earlier this week that it was likely to appeal to me. What I didn’t expect was a near masterpiece and perhaps an instant cult classic. I absolutely adored this movie and really think it’s among the best titles of 2016 so far. Linklater has made something that’s not just a worthy companion piece/spiritual sequel to Dazed and Confused, but something that even continues some of the themes explored in Boyhood. This is another top notch effort that shows his current filmmaking to be at near master status. This is a special film. The movie looks at the first weekend at college for freshman pitcher Jake Bradford (Blake Jenner). We basically just follow him as he meets his teammates, including Glenn McReynolds (Tyler Hoechlin), Willoughby (Wyatt Russell), Billy Autry (Will Brittain), Dale Douglas (J.

When I first saw Jeepers Creepers, it scared the hell out of me! I haven't seen it since, but something tells me I might feel a little differently after watching this audition tape. Jonathan Breck is a lot less creepy when he's not in all that makeup! In fact...things look a little sensual at the end. See the video below!

"Welcome to the big time, boys!" Paramount has debuted the first official trailer for Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some, formerly known as That's What I'm Talking About, a comedy following a group of baseball players growing up. This is Richard Linklater's follow-up to Boyhood and a sort-of sequel to Dazed and Confused. It definitely has that vibe. The cast features mostly up-and-coming actors including: Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Tyler Hoechlin, Ryan Guzman, Wyatt Russell, Dora Madison, Blake Jenner and Jonathan Breck. This looks great, can't wait to see it. My only Wtf question - how are there so many quotes from reviews not yet published for a film still four months out from release? Very odd. Anyway - enjoy it! Here's the first official trailer for Richard Linklater's Everybody Wants Some, direct from YouTube: A group of college baseball players navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.

There’s every chance that 2015 will go down as the year when the horror icons of yesteryear were given a new lease of life. With Michael Myers on the verge of a comeback in the appropriately titled Halloween Returns and murmurings of a new take on A Nightmare on Elm Street, fans of the genre have experienced an ice-cold trickle of nostalgia creep down their spines in recent weeks.
And one studio keen to get in on the action is Myriad Pictures, after announcing plans to move forward with Jeepers Creepers 3. Before you grab your pitchforks and decree the need for long-in-development horror sequels, it’s worth nothing that original writer-director Victor Salva is on board for the horror threequel, while Jonathan Breck and Brandon Smith are ready to tackle the flesh-hungry Creeper once more.

Also back is original cast member Brandon Smith as Sergeant Davis Tubbs for a movie that will explore the Creeper's origins and why he kills.
Jeepers Creepers 3 takes place in the final hours of The Creeper's 23-day rampage, as a taskforce works to take down the creature once and for all.
Victor Salva – the director behind 2001's original Jeepers Creepers - is back behind the lens for part three, which will begin filming in Vancouver early next year.

The long-gestating third film in the monster movie series, Jeepers Creepers, is finally going to happen as it's been given a greenlight, has a rough start date, and even a plot to go with it! Come inside to learn more.
Frankly, this isn't news I was expecting to wake up to. In fact, I don't know that I was ever expecting to see Jeepers Creepers 3 come to fruition. If anything, I expected the franchise to 'reboot' at some point down the line, but never get the sequel fans had been asking for. Strange things happen every day, apparently, and lo and behold Jeepers Creepers 3 is finally moving forward.
The original writer/director Victor Salva is returning once again to helm the third film, with Jonathan Breck also returning to once again portray the demonic monster from which the film gets it's name. Newcomer to the franchise Brandon Smith will be playing Sergeant Tubbs,...

As Bruce Campbell proved to us all last week when he debunked the previous week’s announcement that Army of Darkness 2 was on its way, news of impending horror sequels should probably always be taken with a grain of salt. Countless sequels have been announced over the years, only to drop off the face of the earth shortly thereafter. It’s just the nature of the game, in a fickle business like the movie-making one.
Back in August we took a look at ten of those sequels that we’re still waiting to see, and today I’ve got ten more for ya. They were all planned, they were all announced, but none of them ever actually happened!

As a movie enthusiast and the guy that runs Movie Room Reviews, I, Zack Mandell, have wondered for a while now: which of the horror movie murderers have killed the most in their on-screen careers? Breaking it down by amount of kills, here are the 10 most dangerous killers in the movies. 10. The Creeper – Kill Count: 20 As seen in: Jeepers Creeper (2001), Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003). Depicted by: Jonathan Breck. For a guy that comes out every 23 years and can only kill for 23 days, a kill count of 20 is pretty impressive. His obsession with body parts is pretty disgusting too. Unfortunately, his victims generally are not allowed to just donate them, meaning that the creeper has probably racked up an impressive body count over the last couple thousand years. 9. Ghostface – Kill Count: 28 As seen in: Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), Scream 3 (2000), Scream 4 (2011); depicted by: Skeet Ulrich, Timothy Olyphant, Scott Foley, Emma Roberts, Matthew Lillard and Rory.

Victor Salva’s Jeepers Creepers will be remembered for being Justin Long‘s breakout role and for turning the 1938 Louis Armstrong hit into a iconic horror ballad. Beyond that, it’s an above average horror film, that, despite the end being much weaker than the majority of the film, is quite entertaining and provides some quality scares.
We first meet Trish (Gina Philips) and her brother Darius (Long) as they drive along a deserted road, surrounded by meadows and farmland, on their way home from college. Their sibling banter is suddenly interrupted by an old, rusted truck that comes flying up on their car, horn blaring.

*full disclosure: a Blu-Ray copy of this film was provided by 20th Century Fox. Director/writer: Victor Salva. Cast: Gina Philips, Justin Long, Jonathan Breck, Patricia Belcher, Eileen Brennan, and Brandon Smith. It is disturbing to read that director Victor Salva was convicted of child rape in the late '80s. Yet, he still found work with Disney and he would later move on to Powder (1995) and the film reviewed here, Jeepers Creepers (2001). This title has recently released on Blu-Ray for the first time September 11th and despite the director's sordid history, there is something unique in this creature feature. An abrupt ending is the only element to take something away from full enjoyment, while acting, story and characterizations are all given suitable attention. The story follows siblings Darry (Justin Long) and Patricia (Gina Phillips) as they return from Bannon College. They are heading home when a darkened vehicle tries...
