A Megan Thee Stallion verse is not unlike a bag of salt and vinegar chips—there’s something classic and quaint and straight-up hood about the sharp and improbable flavors packed inside every one of them. There were always going to be some quirky juxtapositions with Meg. The twenty-something spitter is an old soul who swears by Pimp C and Biggie and Juicy J. While other rappers her age couldn’t point out Pete Rock in a police lineup, nearly every time Meg spits a freestyle in one of her many viral clips,...

We got French heading into Jue Lan Club in NYC Monday night and gave him props on putting together the peace summit between 'Ye and the creator of the "wave" movement, jailed rapper Max B. As it stands right now, Max B is facing 75 years in prison after he was convicted of manslaughter, aggravated assault, robbery, kidnapping, possession of a weapon and conspiracy in 2009. But the New York Mc said he's staying as positive as possible and operating under the radar.
When MTV News got him on the phone Monday (June 28) from New Jersey State Penitentiary in Trenton, he explained why he recently fired his trial lawyer, Gerald M. Saluti.
"Anytime you lose a trial, on most occasions, people will fire their trial lawyer," he said. "You would need to do something like that. For those who's not familiar with legal terms, it's called ineffective assistance of counsel — that's when your lawyer fails to do his obligated duties.

New York — Bun B gives all the credit to Jay-z for their onstage tribute to Pimp C earlier this week in Houston. During a stop of the Blueprint 3 Tour in H-Town, Bun joined Jigga for "Big Pimpin'," and the two let the crowd recite the late Pimp C's rhymes.
"It was Jay's tribute," said Bun, who was in NYC on Wednesday night filming the video for French Montana's "Bad Habits." "I don't want anybody to get it twisted. Jay-z was a very good friend of mine and Pimp C. He makes sure every time he comes to Houston, it's a big thing, and we can really give it up to Pimp. He doesn't want to do it for himself,...

G-Unit member Tony Yayo is disappointed to see friend and recording partner Max B go to jail. Max, born Charles Wingate, was found guilty of manslaughter, as well as eight other charges, last week in New Jersey. His sentencing is July 31.
Yayo said the trial went south before it even started, blaming his friend's downfall on a January video blog, in which Max and his lawyer, Gerald M. Saluti, spoke about the case for more than six minutes. The two also were part of subsequent Internet interviews.
"It's an unfortunate thing that happened to Max B," Yayo told us. "He just had a kid. I f--- with Max. I f--- with French [Montana]. I think he had bad representation with his lawyer.
