- She taught at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York; Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York; and the Peabody Conservatory of Music.
- She was the youngest of six children.
- She earned her Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Music from the Oberlin College Conservatory in Ohio.
